Shifra Posted August 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2009 I remembered that last year the schedule for spring break was posted and it was quite helpful in planning cruises. I found the updated schedule for 2010 and wanted to share it. http://www.tripsmarter.com/panamacity/springbreak/sbcalendar.htm

F19810 Posted August 5, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Shifra, thank you so much for this information. I was thinking of going on another cruise or to Disney for my birthday. Now that I looked at the schedule, I will have to think twice about when to go. See you in november, Judy
cruiser4959 Posted August 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2009 I am booked during the worst week !
recyclelady Posted August 5, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Luckily, my daughter and her husband are grad students at U. of Michigan--which has a really early break starting on Feb.27. They are going on a cruise with us that week, but we shouldn't be inundated with kids of all ages.
Starlaker Posted August 5, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Going through the Panama Canal that week. Sure hope that they don't choose that route.
LARGIN Posted August 5, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Thanks for the info... One thing to consider is that very few of the "Spring Breakers" will be on cruises longer than 7 days...

Woodmnky Posted August 5, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 5, 2009 The scary thing it that my college is not even listed and I'm sure that it is not the only one.
Cruisin' Chick Posted August 5, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 5, 2009 I didn't see UCLA on it...that's a lot of kids
Sox Fan Cruiser Posted August 5, 2009 #11 Share Posted August 5, 2009 That's funny because my little business school, Bentley College (Oops, University, it just got Univ. accreditation) was on there! I didn't expect to see it.
Hulagirl Posted August 5, 2009 #12 Share Posted August 5, 2009 My daughters University isn't on the list either. It is one of the bigger private Universities in the Northwest, so I was surprised it wasn't listed.

(It says "continue" really small at the bottom) P.S. Just went back and checked. UCLA is on the second page. March 15 - 19.

Shifra Posted August 5, 2009 Author #15 Share Posted August 5, 2009 You are all welcome. :) I hope it didn't ruin anyones vacation plans but it is a good thing to know if you are not booked yet. After the college crowd goes back to school you have the families with school age kids cruising in April. If I had to choose I think I would pick families over college break students. Also cruising for more than 7 days.
lkmamom Posted August 5, 2009 #16 Share Posted August 5, 2009 And the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest are off March 6-14. Ironically, I just printed their school calendar today and just noticed this post:) Linda
Hulagirl Posted August 5, 2009 #17 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Yes, I did see there is a second page, and yes her University is not listed. Also, a friend goes to a University in Florida, and what is list is incorrect. I would say that just figure anytime towards the end of February to the middle of April you will always find spring breaks whether it be K-12 or University level. The list is interesting though. Rare Host CJSKIDS Posted August 5, 2009 #18 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Thanks for listing it but the list isn't correct for some of the schools just in case someone is using this to plan their cruise. They list University of Central Florida as being on break from 3/29 through 4/2. UCF is on spring break from March 8-March 13 for 2010.
rdsqrl Posted August 6, 2009 #19 Share Posted August 6, 2009 I don't know why but I find this thread very irritating. College students aren't any worse or better overall than any other segment of the population; haven't we all read plenty of threads lately about bad behaviour from a whole range of ages? I just hate this attitude that college kids are somehow a plague to be avoided at all costs and so it's okay to post school break calendars and issue dire warnings. Ageism is still discrimination, even if it's not directed at senior citizens.

Rare Coral Posted August 6, 2009 #21 Share Posted August 6, 2009 I have not had any problems with college students on spring break (Princess is not their first cruising choice). It is the junior high/high school kids that seems to cause the chaos I have seen.
