Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted April 11, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2010 I don't eat chicken, but I do believe the name is "honey stung" chicken, not "honey stunk" chicken. Other than that I can only offer that many poeple have posted here about how much they enjoy that particular style of chicken.
jerin Posted April 11, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2010 Not sure. I've had it. It isn't bad, but I didn't find it anything to write home about, either.
Cruising89143 Posted April 11, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2010 If it's freshly cooked, it can be very good. On the Oasis, they now have it as room service served with sweet potato fries and ranch dressing. It was very good. If it has been sitting under in the buffet for a while, it's not good at all. Pitbull1130 Posted April 11, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 11, 2010 Thanks I thought I'd missed something......I've had the honey stung it okay but I don't count the days for it. I do count the days until the cruise though.....
Happy ks Posted April 11, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 11, 2010 I have no idea how it can be "freshly cooked" as it is frozen and heated. We've tried it twice, the first time I thought it was no big deal, just battered, dried out pressed and formed chicken with a sweet honey flavor added to it, kind of chewy and fatty while still being dry, weird. Then I tried it again because so many people rave about it. I was right the first time. Many times we stop and eat before boarding, it does cost a little bit, but then you don't have to settle for buffet food :)
lovemylab Posted April 11, 2010 #9 Share Posted April 11, 2010 I find the honey stung chicken to be just okay. I think the hype has more to do with it only being served on the first day. Therefore, if you are eating honey stung chicken it means your vacation is only just beginning :)

luvscruising2007 Posted April 11, 2010 #11 Share Posted April 11, 2010 I tried it after reading the raves on these boards about it. I was very disappointed but tried it on the next cruise and it was much better. But to be honest I think McDonald's chicken nuggets are better. I also think honey stunk chicken is more appropriate.:D
Bakincakes Posted April 11, 2010 #12 Share Posted April 11, 2010 We tried it a couple of times and didn't like it at all. We found it to be dry and very chewy.

lmt425 Posted April 11, 2010 #14 Share Posted April 11, 2010 there seems to be a consensus on this thread but i wanted to put in my .02. we went to the buffet right when it opened, so the honey stung chicken was 'fresh'. it wasn't bad but it defintely did not live up to the hype. my husband had different kinds of chicken almost every day at the buffet...the honey stung was his least favorite. steveru621 Posted April 11, 2010 #17 Share Posted April 11, 2010 For some the taste is secondary, it's the tradition of the first meal on board.

newbiecruiser09 Posted April 11, 2010 #20 Share Posted April 11, 2010 Tried it this last cruise. It was ok but there was a roumalade (sp?) sauce that was by it (not sure if it was for the HS chick or something else) that was awesome! I put that sauce on everything that meal--chicken, veggies, breadstick!! YUM!
MrsPete Posted April 11, 2010 #21 Share Posted April 11, 2010 I think it's okay . . . but nothing special. Definitely over-hyped.

negc Posted April 15, 2010 #23 Share Posted April 15, 2010 Regardless of whether or not the honey-stung chicken is over-hyped, its appearance on the luncheon buffet on embarkation day, signifies to me that my cruise vacation has begun. It doesn't matter much to me whether it is a menu highlight or low light, just the fact that it is on the buffet is all that counts.:D
hawaiibound24 Posted April 15, 2010 #24 Share Posted April 15, 2010 Is it considered "chinese" from the Jade? Like Honey Chicken which a lot of chinese buffets have?
