It was told to me that RCL gets most of its officers from the Nordic area and Carnival Italian. Are those old stereotypes? Seeing Captain Medina is from Venezuela. Are there any women captains?

Does the captain always operate the controls when bringing the ship to and from the pier? I know you have to take in account wind and wave direction, and oh yeah 140K tons of momentum, but with azipods and thrusters, the Captains make parallel parking look easy.

that's how this chart is read...the first captain is working, the second one listed is on vacation.

I was told to me that RCL gets most of its officers from the Nordic area and Carnival Italian. (not true anymore for RCI, there are very few if any Nordic Jr officers on the bridge, RCI can pay less if they're not Nordic). Are there any women captains? (you must not have looked at the chart carefully, Capt Karin assigned to Majesty, and Capt Lis is assigned to Vision).

(He is there, he is also training the Staff Captain, so sometimes it's the Staff Captain, under the watchful eye of the master, who has his hands on the controls, and sometimes it's the master himself working the controls. They make it look easy because they've had years of experience and training, and they have great team assisting them (deck crew, officers, bridge team)).

Explorer is supposed to be his ship now. I can't plug him into the spread sheet until he starts and I forget to manually put him on Explorer. There's supposed to be a rotation on EX May 15 and that's when his name will show up on the chart

Usually 10 weeks on and 10 weeks off. Might vary a week or two.

How long do captains work a rotation?

it can be anywhere from 8 to 14 weeks with 10 weeks being the norm. Some captains (like Feavelen) prefer a longer rotation. The 2 masters of the ship can work out their own schedule, as long as each works 6 months total on the ship. That way they can plan for personal events. Of course life happens so they can be off for paternity leave, emergency medical leave, or bereavement leave.
