When did Margaritaville become a specialty on Escape?

The new menu with pricing was just posted on another site. Burgers $6.99, most sandwiches between $6.99 - $8.99, margaritas $10.95, key lime pie $3.99.

Kind of proves that NCL had an unexpected opportunity to find out where and how they could make more money.

a burger and fries is now 9.99 and the 18% service or whatever they call it charge

yeah, NO THANK you! I hope to see the venue a ghost town when we sail - it is one thing to have a cover charge, like RCI has for Johnny Rockets, but I already technically have paid to have "INCLUDED" food in my cruise, not pay land based restaurant prices PLUS an addition service charge. This will not go over well, but maybe if enough people do not go, it will change back to complimentary or a cover charge

But after all of the sudden changes they have done, we are probably looking to different lines after this cruise. I enjoyed getting the two perks for free and I'll keep an open mind on the Escape cruise and wont let it sour my experience, but they will really have to go above and beyond on the Escape for me to overlook their faults and book with NCL again.

Ridiculous.... from free to this.

Well .... Johnny Rockets used to be free and then a charge was implemented several years ago on those "other line" ships. So maybe NCL is just following the pack on this one. Although Carnival has managed to keep its burger joint from becoming a fee based diner. And given the tiny area of the pool deck that place has you'd think NCL could manage to keep the burgers coming without huge lines.

I bet there won't be any lines at all now....

So the $6.99 burger doesn't come with any sides, add french fries for $2.99, cole slaw for $2.99. Cuckoo. Is the food that good/different? I predict the lines will vanish.
I'm surprised that the burgers don't included fries or a salad as well, since the land Margaritaville restaurants do, but then their cheapest burger is $15.49 (at least in Las Vegas).

Ill be the first to propose that they take down the margaritaville sign and give us back an Uptown Grill option.

Sounds like a plan.

I wonder what the Jimmy Buffett/margaritaville management are saying about this. I don't belive they will get many new customers or good pr out of this.

The issue I saw on the transatlantic was not a lack of service staff - they were abundant and efficient. The issue was the physical kitchen space just cannot prepare and get out the food in sufficient volume for the size of the venue and the demand. The kitchen needs to be at least twice as big, which at this point is impossible

Geez where does Ncl find their construction engineers and architects?

Too small atriums

Centrally located smoking casinos that make it impossible to enjoy several up charge venues

Too small single pools for the size of a ship

Spice h2o big screen that isn't put to good use

Crowded decks due to rock wall and ropes course

And now they are building restaurants that can handle the volume

Really?

This is some b*llsh*t - very disappointed that NCL is doing this. This was a big draw for us to book this cruise...and it was advertised as being complimentary. Way to go back on your word NCL

Now I'm even happier than before to have recommended an "older" ship (second newest ;)) for our group for our trip in January.

Even though the Western itinerary isn't as interesting, I thought that there probably will be problems (although nothing like this ever crossed my mind) for the first few months of the new ship, so we chose Getaway instead.

Looks like FDR is finding his extra $5 per day p/p over and above his original projection!

Haha older!! :)

What bothers me is that we just paid in full and now they are adding charges - what else will they do?? It's a shotty way to do business and doesn't promote any reason for us to be loyal to this line

Have fun in January!!

....AND being "a la carte" it would not be included in any of the dining plans!

Not necessarily. The only a la carte venue truly excluded from the plans currently is Food Republic. All others are either included in the dining plans free, like Cagneys and Le Bistro, or just have an additional up charge from $7 to $15.

NCL could easily add this venue to the plans for free, or with a flat small up charge. All they need to do is update the Terms and Conditions. Of course, that doesn't mean they WILL. And even it they did, it would count as a "meal" each time you visited, so probably not good use of a dining plan in any case.

But the whole purpose was to reduce the crowds/wait times - so that seems really unlikely!

I love their made to order burgers and salads! We ate there almost every day for lunch! And breakfast! I think we might have to go to the buffet for lunch, the food is prob the same as Margaritaville.

I'll take NCL Getaway's Flamingo Grill over another ridiculous a la carte (let's see how much money we can milk out of our guests) place like Margaritaville.

Ridiculous. On BA and GA they have delicious burgers up at the grill. Will they start charging for those next? Whose going to pay $6.99 and $3.99 for a burger and fries and of course the 18% for your conveience fee. Absurd. I certainly won't be paying for this. Trust me I can afford the $15 but at this point it's the principal. I'll pass

If his objective was to reduce the crowds, then problem solved!

I don't eat at Johnny Rockets on RCI and similarly will not eat at an extra fee Margaritaville on Escape. Bring back the Uptown / Flamingo grill.
