Independence is fantastic

Accounting for the fleet wide decline in quality and service, I've got to say Independence is just amazing. I haven't had much positive to say about Royal Caribbean recently, but we are a few days in and this cruise has been fantastic. The ship is in impeccable shape and the crew we have experienced have been great.

We had a record early boarding time of 10:25 in Fort Lauderdale. We may have to try and squeeze in another trip before she stops doing the 7 nighters out of Ft. Lauderdale! Any questions I'll try to answer.

You may of swayed me I've been racking my brain between the allure or independence in April 16. Even though it's a 7 compared to a 5 night. I've done allure twice and kinda like freedom class better which I've done 3 times. Decisions decisions.

Our last 7 night cruise was last year on the Allure and my favorites are a dead tie between Indy and Oasis/Allure.

If there was any price difference I would go with Independence. We love this a Eastern itinerary on the Independence, too.

Almost exact price per night for a GS. But bringing my 8 yo DD and was trying to figure out what would be best for her.

Can you order steak in the dining room every night ? Also did you go in the casino ? If so , any good paying machines ?

On the Indy, can you pre-book the shows prior to sailing or wait until you board?

Yes, there is a steak available every night for no extra charge. There is also a better quality steak available for around $15 extra.

I've donated $100 to the slots in the casino. They are advertising the "brand new" slot machines in the cruise compass. Don't know whether they are brand new or not. They are the same style!

Today they advertised $120 for 5 days unlimited access on one device. Not a bad deal. You also get a percentage off for C&A memberships.

We had 4G access in San Juan today, so we are just going to use the 24 hours free we got for each of us with the Diamond C&A freebee.

I guess it's a toss-up. We miss the neighborhoods a little bit while on Independence, but miss the Viking Crown, Solarium, gym/steam rooms, and unified pool deck on Allure.

If Independence, Freedom, and Liberty had Park Cafe, it would seal the deal [emoji6].

We have sailed Indy three times, each one fantastic. Our first was the most memorable - we won an auction (charity) to be on the bridge during sail away from port one day. Fantastic - two bottles of champagne, canapés and our own security guard :) . Mind you even he was sent away by the Head of Security who took personal responsibility for us.

Lucky you , was there at the beginning of May and didn't like it that much. But I have to say I saw and increase in level of courtesy from the crew.

On the other hand, No French toast at breakfast, no water dispenser at sorentos or cafe promenade ( you basically have to ask for every single glass of water that you want ). Time conflicts for crown and anchor event and departing sail away event ( there is a new CD so I hope there is also a new schedule did activities ) Guest game was made at 1030pm, first time ever I see that activity at that time. Slow service at MDR. Formal night the same day of a pool party, funny to see some people in long dresses or tie and suit dancing by the pool. I always like the food on royal, this ship I felt it was a little bit low in taste.

Love freedom like u , Liberty was amazing but after my experience with Indy I think I will go back to oasis class next year. I never thought the price difference was a reason, but I find out there is.

No pre-booking of shows in Indy. All except the ice show are first come, first served. If the ice show requires tickets, you will be notified onboard as to the process of obtaining tickets.

So the ice show is the only one you can't just walk up to and enter. You get tickets for the ice show at some time before the ice show. Got it. Thanks.

YES it is a fabulous ship...we loved cruising on her in February....had a great time.

Is the CD the same one as the May 10th eastern, do you know (it was Jamie Fentiman)? I have the compasses for that one, so I was wondering if they will be similar if the CD is the same.

Jamie is not on Indy at this time -- the current CD is Leigh Xuereb until Sept 8th.
