Do I need a bus/ferry pass?

I'm trying to decide if a 1 or 2 day bus/ferry pass will be worthwhile or not.

Party of 3

Plan on using mini bus for Horseshoe Bay.

The rest of the time between st George's and Hamilton. Once you get to SG and Hamilton from the ferry, do you then to take a bus to destination? Thinking about the caves specifically?

Thanks!

No, you do not need a Transportation Pass.

To figure out if it would be worthwhile during your stay, count the number of times you plan to board a public bus or ferry. The answer will be the number of tokens you will need if you follow your plan. Multiply that answer times $4.50 which is the cost of the tokens p/p.

The one day pass costs $19, the two day, $31.50, then you decide whether there is worthwhile saving.

The min-buses are privately owned so you would pay them with cash.

Yes, if you take the ferry to Hamilton or St George's, if your destination is not within walking distance of the ferry dock, you will need to take a public bus or taxi to get to it.

The caves are not within walking distance of Hamilton or St George's.

You can also purchase a ticket book with 15 tickets good for bus or ferry. Price is $37.50. What you have to remember is 3 people traveling on bus or ferry will need 6 tokens just for one time. No bus transfers. You need a token everytime you get on the bus.

They have not been selling the ticket books at the Dockyard for a number of years. They would have to be purchased in Hamilton or St. George's.

There are transfers available for connecting bus routes. You have to use them on the first available connection.

Is the ticket booth cash only for all day passes or do they accept credit card?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

They were taking credit cards, Visa and MC, last year at the Visitor Information Center but they were charging a service fee of 3.3 %. or something like that.

There is both bus and ferry service from the Dockyard to Hamilton on Sunday but at reduced frequency.

The stores are not open in Hamilton on Sunday. Some of the restaurants might be open. Hamilton is very quiet place on Sunday.

We calculated the number of rides we planned to take, and simply did the math. It was not cost effective for us to buy passes. We ended up just taking the ferry to and from Hamilton 1 time (3 people), so it would have been a waste for us. We paid for the minibus when we went to and from Horseshoe Bay.

If you are sailing NCL, there is a free ferry to St. George's, so you won't need to pay for transportation there.
