High Vista Pricing

Planning my next cruise for 2017 (Have done 19 with Carnival) and was really surprised by high pricing for the Vista. I know it is a new ship with lot of goodies but it was still a shock. The difference in pricing (for 2 cruisers) for a mid February, 2017 8 day cruise was $631 when I compare the Vista and the Conquest. There was a $860 difference when I compared balconies and the choices were really limited on the Vista. We cruised the Breeze when it was new but pricing was nothing like this. Oh well, I guess I will sail the Conquest and then head to the Casino with the $631 to pay for the cruise.

Anticipation for the Vista has grown steadily and has not subsided since she set sail (it is early though). Havana rooms are in huge demand, n=making me wonder if Vista 2 will have even more of them.

We booked a cloud 9 spa balcony for an 8 day Caribbean cruise in Sept. 2017 on the Vista for $2800 for both of us with a $50 onboard credit...I thought that was a pretty good price

When I booked my Vista cruise back in Feb, it was reasonably priced. Not anymore than the same cruises on the Breeze. Now, an interior is costing more than my balcony.

I am wondering what "reasonably priced" means to you. We booked a year ago February, and it is the most expensive cruise EVER.....and that includes the Breeze in the Med for 12 days in 2012. I don't think this ship was EVER "reasonably priced".....we are booked in an 8C balcony for Feb 2017 and booked over a year and a half out when it had recently opened for bookings and paid $1338 p/p for this one week cruise.....that is not so "reasonable" to us and we have sailed alot of cruise lines and ships!!

We have the Vista booked twice.

Our first is 12/3/16 in an interior on the Lido.

Since booking in January, the price has risen $320.

Our second is 12/2/17 in a Havana Cabana.

Since booking in January, the price has risen $410.

Crazy.

I know that's right!! Couldn't believe how high the Vista is. Looked at booking in 2018 and it was pushing $3000 for a week. I'll stick with the other ships until carnival gets their prices right. IMHO

You may be waiting for a while. There are a whole lot of people jumping from the Disney ships to the Vista and are saving tons of money. Our last cruise, a 7 night western Caribbean on the Disney Fantasy, (June 2014), was $8400 for 4 people in 2 inside rooms. We've have 2 upcoming cruises on the Vista, 1 on 6/3/16, 8 night Mediterranean, for $4200 for 4 people in 2 insides including prepaid gratuity, and another for 6/3/17, 8 night Southern Caribbean for 4 people in 2 insides for only $5200 including gratuity. A comparable 7 night on the Disney Fantasy for June 2017 is over $10,000 for us in 2 cabins, not including gratuity and that includes a 10% discount for booking onboard a previous cruise.

The Vista has opened a whole new world for us that we're pretty excited about and were planning many more Vista and Vista II cruises. One of them we'll hopefully be able to find an Havana Cabana Suite available.

We've booked our fh ocean view cabin in April 2015 including tips for $4066 for the three of us and now it's down to $3183 and we switched to an fh deluxe ocean view.

If my memory serves me right, I'll never turn back time.

I understand Disney is expensive, but how did the Vista open a whole new world? She certainly looks only slightly better than Breeze or Magic and in some cases, the thermal suite for the Cloud 9 spa rooms, worse.

Vista certainly isn't worth the premium over Breeze and Magic to me currently. Skyride...meh, Imax movie for big extra $ - no thanks.

will still sail the ship eventually and did find a 2018 8 day cruise for less than the Magic 7 day spa cabin cruise. A Lido deck balcony too.

And the Havana Cabana's sea view is poor. They may be in demand but not by those who want a decent view of the ocean.

Oh well...

When the Vista opened for bookings lots of people jumped on the European sailings.

With the cost of airfare now known, there have been many many cancelations. US guests then looked into US itineraries on the Vista and are now booking those instead.

So prices for Europe (except the transatlantic) are falling and prices for the regular US sailings are increasing.

Supply and demand. Our January 2017 cruise with celebrity, we booked an aqua class cabin (higher category balcony) in January 2015 with $300 obc, drink package and free tips for $799/person. It's now going for $2100/pp-one person is more than double our cost!

We are excited for the vista....we knew we didn't want to go until late 2017 or early 2018...sorted by price, found a 6 day cruise, Havana aft extended balcony-total cost with fees $2037. Our last carnival cruise in 2014 on the glory-standard balcony for the 2 of us was $1600. I'm willing to pay $400 more for the ship and the nicer room.

Carnivals prices are going up and have been for awhile. I'm not talking about a interior but balcony's and suites. On a recent Valor seven day cruise I paid

$1,500.00 per person. Not long ago it would have been $2,000.00 for two. The Vista has increased a lot since first being sold. Our Havana Cabana Suite was $2,000.00 per person for an eight day in Europe. Now a balcony is more than what we paid. Look around people as other cruise lines are very competitive in pricing now. My next three cruises are on Princess.

We cruised on the Regal Princess in December, she was beautiful. The decor was very pretty. The ONLY downside we found was......we totally enjoy listening to a live band after dinner, playing todays music, and this wasn't available to us. But we will cruise Princess again in the future. Any cruise is what you make of it!! Happy cruising.

It's a new ship. Of course prices are going to be high. That said, we're booked for August 2017 with a balcony and a 4J across the hall. $50 obc per cabin. Price was only $600 more for two 4Js on the Magic this year. Prices have already gone up twice on our date since we booked. If there was a date I wanted, best to book this ship early.

We are also booked in a deluxe family harbour oceanview for February 2017. It is our most expensive cruise ever. But, it is still not over our cruise budget of $1,000 per person AND we are really looking forward to it. It's one of the few Carnival cruises we have booked that we are really excited about.

What month and year are you sailing in? October 2017 seemed to be the cheapest time to book the Vista but we already had our Bermuda cruise booked on the Pride.

Vista opened up the world of CCL to us. I was caught up in the snob mentality of DCL is the best and nothing in the world can compare. I'm by no way saying that is true, but that was our first cruise line ever and I fell into that thinking. Then one day about 16 months ago I found info on Vista, talked to my wife about and we decided to give her a shot.

Our first 2 cruises were on Disney Dream and Fantasy when they were both about 6 months old, so we really liked the new ship feel and the newest bells and whistles. Right or wrong, that's what we liked. So when we found the new Vista we decided to open our eyes and see what other options are available. We booked our cruise for this year then I started hanging out on CC to find out more info on CCL. I'm really liking what I've found the last 15 months and am so excited about trying out a new adventure.

I hope this makes sense and I'm in no way trying to say that Vista is superior to any other CCL ships, she just brought us to Carnival, and for that I couldn't be happier.

I couldn't agree with you more about DCL being way over priced. We had never cruised before and decided to add on a 3 night Disney cruise to a WDW vacation on 2011. We found out cruising was great and stuck with them. Luckily, our eyes opened a little wider and we realized we could still cruise and not have to sell body parts to pay for it!!

We are huge Disney fans, I used to be an Operations Manager for them, our honeymoon was at Disneyland and we have annual passes to Disneyland even though we live in AZ. This is my home office:

c1f2f6e671d88cf1470a7ba281d0b5f8.jpg

So for us it was not an easy decision to make to try something else, but as the saying goes, with risk comes rewards, and we are so excited to try CCL!

I booked the Vista in February 2016 for an 8 day on April 22 of 2017. I have the ONLY four person Cloud 9 Spa interior on deck 11 on the ship for my wife and two young daughters. I paid $2865 with tax and port charges for the four of us. Today a standard interior on a lower deck is only about $50 less. The prices keep going up what seems every week. I never felt that the price I paid was great but the further along the calendar goes the better our price looks. The reasons I booked is the fact it's a new ship perfect for young children and it went to four ports I haven't been to. It is what it is but comparatively speaking we just got off the new NCL Escape. I booked that a year out as well and got a balcony and 2 unlimited drink packages for me and the wife for the same price as the Vista. It was an amazing new ship that I can already say was a way better value then the Vista I booked for next year. Still looking forward to the Vista for the criteria It met for us. On a side note, I'd never book a DCL cruise ..... total ripoff in my opinion with their skyrocketing prices.

I know that our Family Harbor Cove Balcony cabin (non-suite) was not cheap by our usual standards (usually less than $2k for a week for a family of 4) but I knew there would be a premium to book on the NYC Inaugural on Nov 5. But now looking an interior room for 4 people actually costs $200 MORE than I paid for my original booking!! I booked Early Saver thinking I may get price drops (HA!!), but that obviously isn't going to happen as the rooms have been sold out for what feels like a year at this point...

Looking at the current prices makes my purchase feel like a bargain! I also realize this is the NICEST ship I've been on by far with the most amenities as well as 11 days so the cost isn't that unreasonable compared to a 7 day.

For me, the Vista pricing was not out of line when I was shopping around. We are booked on the 6 day western in a FH Oceanview for July 2017. I was also looking at the Escape and the Oasis. An OV on either of those ships was $1,200 to $1,500 more expenses for a family of four. Of course its 6 vs 7 but the 8 day Vista is only about $200 more than these two.
