  1. We did our transatlantic on the Oosterdam in Oct. 2022. We loved the ship, perfect size and the crew were some of the best we've ever had. Booked on the Rotterdam for the 2023 transatlantic but back to the Oosterdam for 2024. Just trying to hit different departure ports. Helen
  2. Just off the ship. Smoking on deck 9 aft outside of the Lido, starboard side. No smoking in the casino. Helen
  3. Thanks. Someone else said it was mentioned somewhere but I must have missed it. Helen
  4. Leaving Sunday on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Tried to find the health assessment info form to complete. Finally called HAL and was told they have now gone back to the old way of doing this at the port. All other documents for check in have been completed. Can anyone confirm this information? Thanks! Helen
  5. There are 6 ships that I know of that have no smoking in the casino. They’ve already made the smoking area smaller on several ships by putting up the half wall of fake greenery. Sorry but I don’t think you will ever have what you want which are totally non smoking ships.
  6. Thanks for the well wishes. We did our very first long cruise (more than 7 days) on the Nieuw Amsterdam for 24 days back in 2014. We're now officially addicted to HAL and are going back to the scene of the crime - this beautiful ship! Helen
  7. For some reason they usually show up first on your luggage tags. Helen
  8. I always call guest services. Some of the ships have the outlets on the other side of the cabin across from the bed. This requires the very long extension cord which they then tape to the floor. The number for guest services is located on the website under “contact us.” Helen PS: just looked at your list of cruises and see you’re going on the Rotterdam in Oct. 2023 (me too). If that’s the ship you’re referencing the outlets are right next to the bed so you don’t have to worry.
  9. My partner and I both use a Cpap. At home I use distilled water but the water on the ship is desalinated. We have used ship water for years without any problems. Helen
  10. In looking at the deck plan it looks like 7118 is a signature suite and 7107 is a balcony cabin. Can you double check the cabin numbers? Helen
  11. Tina - there is currently an "early booking" deal. HIA is at 50% pricing and this one includes crew appreciation. I sent you an email a little while ago. Let me know what you think. Helen
  12. Just google Carnival Corporation shareholder benefit. On the form it shows the email address. I send that as a cover sheet with all the info they request…your name, ship name, booking number. Can’t remember if there’s anything else but it’s on the form. Send it with a copy of the brokerage statement showing you own the stock. Be sure to black out your account number. As far as the military credit they did that paperwork for us on the ship but I’m sure you’ll find it if you google HAL military on board credit. Helen
  13. Just off the Nieuw Statendam last week. They do allow smoking in a small area of the casino. Helen
  14. Hi my friend…booked one last cruise before the ships leave Fort Lauderdale. Whenever you can, will you add this for me? Thanks! HELENPSL. Nieuw Amsterdam. 2-4-2023. 7 day Western Caribbean
  15. All we can say is we love you. Please let us know when you arrive home or will they take you directly to the hospital? Needless to say you are in our prayers. Helen and Angelo
  16. We always book ocean view and on the Rotterdam the outlets are right next to the bed as well as a USB port. You also have additional outlets at the desk area across from the bed with both American and European outlets and additional USB ports. Although we always use distilled water at home the water on the ship is desalinated so it is safe to use in your CPAP right from the tap. Helen
  17. Since the dining room is always in chaos the first night we board we have made it a tradition to go to the Tamarind on the first night. So that's the plan for our TA in October. Keep it in mind and we'll all go together!! Helen 😍
  18. Jacqui - been following along and it looks like things are going well...maybe even better than expected. I'm so happy you had the courage to do this trip and I know how hard that was for you. To say I am proud is an understatement!! Love ya, Helen
  19. Gerry - that seafood boil was fabulous but I don't think they would get people to pay $39 to have it in the Lido. Maybe they will just do it for free on the transatlantics? Helen
  20. We always receive a “come back and sail” offer when we disembark for a certain dollar amount in free play. We usually get free cabin offers via email. Helen
  21. The Veterans benefit is a one time credit and not considered a discount. Personally I don't care what they call it as long as they offering it. The shareholder benefit amount is determined by the length of your cruise. We use both of them all the time. Helen
  22. Hi Ari - if you pull up your statement on the ship it will clearly say "obc - refundable or non-refundable). It will also state if it cannot be used in the casino. For example, if you purchase something in the shops they will automatically deduct it from your non-refundable obc and you'll see that amount reduced on your statement. They use always use that credit first. Credits directly from the casino work differently. If the casino has given you a credit it will show each time you login to a slot machine. Have I fully confused you yet?? Hope all is well! Helen
  23. Jacqui - @kazu - can you please add Angelo and I to the following cruise... Oct. 7, 2023 Rotterdam 15 day Atlantic Sojourn (changed from 14 days) Thanks!! Helen
