  1. Had a completely 'normal' cruise in June. Wouldn't have known there was ever a pandemic except for having to test before the cruise, showing our vax cards at embarkation and the crew wearing masks. Otherwise, no different to our previous cruise in January, 2020. Thank goodness. Life goes on. Live it up!
  2. There was a small card on the desk in our cabin the first day asking if we wanted to receive the Cruise Compass. I wrote "YES" on it and our room steward put one on our bed each evening.
  3. We stayed at the new Hampton Inn & Suites Cape Canaveral Cruise Port. Still has that 'new smell' to it and it's just a mile from the cruise ports. Includes a great hot breakfast. We're staying there again next January.
  4. No interest in the Haven. Hate dishes in the hallway (slobs! but I don't think anyone likes that). Don't like comedy shows. Love the buffets.
  5. We were on Mariner last month with 5:30 dining. They always closed the doors at 5:45 but people still came in after that and went to their tables. Like S.A.M.J.R. suggested, talk with your waiter or the head waiter the night before just so they know what to expect. I don't see why you can't be accommodated. Or, go to the Windjammer - they usually have some of the same food as the MDR. You won't go hungry.
  6. We got the 'free at sea' package when we made our reservation. My NCL cruise consultant says you cannot add it on later. You can also decline parts of the package that you don't want to avoid service charges but again, when you make your reservation.
  7. They gave us luggage tags that said 'Group 1'. And yes, it was self departure. I think more than half the ship was self departure judging from the number of people in line with their luggage. I think every ship does it a little differently. When we were on Harmony a few years ago, we did self departure (because we drive to the port) and we were just in line with no numbers, as you say.
  8. We were on Mariner last month and found ourselves in group #1 but the line went into the dining room, all the way around and out again. They called group one and everyone in line got off the ship. Took only a few minutes. Organized chaos. A crew member was initially checking what group people were in but eventually gave up.
  9. I agree. My relatives still live near Bothell. I still think a taxi would be the best source of transport to the pier. That’s what we did a few years ago when we sailed to Alaska.
  10. Pier91 isn’t that far away—near the 15th St bridge. I used to live in Seattle and worked downtown near the Seattle Center.
  11. Taxi. Downtown isn’t that big and it’s all down hill to the waterfront. Unless you’re not staying downtown. I’d still take a taxi.
  12. Enchanted Princess is doing a charter from July 15-22 from Southampton. One of the entertainers on that cruise currently has covid. Isn't there a waiting period for someone to be over covid before being allowed to board or is it up to the chartering company? Have many friends that are cruising then.
  13. We've always taken the AON insurance. Got reimbursed for remaining balance after NCL partially refunded a cruise that we cancelled.
  14. We're staying on the ship next time we go to CocoCay (been there twice now). Not worth getting off and it's very enjoyable on the ship while everyone is away.
  15. We're cruising on Wonder OTS in January. If they require a booster then, we'lre not going. Period.
  16. We used EZAir for our Great Britain cruise and had no problems at all. I guess we were 'special' or just lucky.
  17. Ditto on that! We won't take a cruise that we have to fly to (as of now.....)
  18. I have quite a few friends in the UK going on Enchanted Princess next Friday (July 15 as a charter) because Michael Ball will be appearing as part of the entertainment. Wish I could go but it's only open to UK residents.
  19. We stayed at the Holiday Inn because it's right on the waterfront. If you get a room on the top floor, you can see the entire Southampton harbor. We'll be staying there again next year.
  20. Is it safe? Yes. Five people out of over 2000 on our cruise last month reported as positive (by the Captain on the last day of the cruise. He recommended wearing a mask but no one did.)
  21. We've been through enough hurricanes and tropical storms to know not the book a cruise or make any major plans from August thru October.
  22. The first time we booked a balcony cabin, we said we'd never go back to anything less. To me, the ideal cruise is sitting on the balcony watching the water go by and enjoying the fresh air. There's nothing like it. We have no need for suites. We'd probably cruise more than twice a year if we didn't have to hire a dog sitter for our pups each time.
  23. It was plenty cool last month. They obviously got the a/c working. It was too hot to sit outside except for one day when there was a slight breeze.
  24. It was easy. Just don't expect any 'social distancing' or people wearing masks, if that bothers you. Same with disembarkation - go when your assigned time comes up and just walk off.
  25. That's true - we were on Mariner last month and Johnny Rockets was only open from noon to five. There was always a line waiting to get in right at noon and every seat was taken within 5 minutes. But it was worth it - their shakes are SOOOO good and love their burgers. Johnny Rockets was open for breakfast when we were on Harmony of the Seas.
