  1. Celebrity is a good cruise line with good ships. It should be a good fit for you. As for good solo deals, there's a thread for that:
  2. I wanted to follow up and say that I logged into my Medallion app and my issue was resolved - the old booking was nowhere to be seen, and I was able to see and manipulate my new booking. Now a new issue has come up... I can't book onboard Internet access because, for some reason, it doesn't like the address I have on fine. I tweaked it this way and that, but it's still not working for me. I didn't change the CC on file yet or add another one; maybe I'll try one or the other sometime. It's not a high priority for me.
  3. Thanks. I don't remember seeing this in my past newsletters. I'll have to review them to see if it shows up there - not that I doubt what you've said.
  4. Is there a per transaction limit, a per day limit, a per cruise limit, or more than one of the above?
  5. Unscientific poll time - do you have a preferred cruise line you like to sail with? Thank you for your time and input!
  6. Brand Ambassador John Heald tipped me off to some new items available at Carnival.com. Perhaps these are of interest to some of you. * John Heald wrapping paper ($9.95, unknown size & length) - https://shop.carnival.com/products/john-heald-gift-wrap * John Heald holiday coaster set ($19.95 for a set of 4) - https://shop.carnival.com/products/john-heald-holiday-coaster-set There are other holiday items available at the Web site that aren't related to Mr. Heald, like ornaments and cookie cutters, at https://shop.carnival.com/pages/holiday . I apologize for the interruption. Carry on.
  7. Don't forget about Jacksonville and Palm Beach. I favor keeping separate threads for individual posters. I've noticed big threads on other boards can get unwieldly, which makes them tough to follow.
  8. Thanks. I'll try to be patient and check again sometime next week. There's nothing urgent I have to do in the app before then. I don't care what seating I'll get in the MDR and the extra $25 for Internet access (if I decide to go with it at all) won't kill me.
  9. Hi guys. I've decided to post my tale of woe about the Medallion App here. I booked a cruise on my computer in August and linked it in the app. It worked fine. I booked another room on the same cruise on my computer on Sunday. I canceled the first booking (the one from August) by phone on Monday (no way to cancel online, grrr 🤬) I can see the new booking fine on my computer I can only see the OLD booking on the app and CANNOT link my new booking I've logged in and out multiple times I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the app twice Same results - I can only see the new booking and can't link the new booking I can't do anything with the old booking because when I do it gives me the message that it's canceled Calling Princess is the ABSOLUTE LAST THING IN THE WORLD I WANT TO DO for several reasons This is my next-to-last option - and a longshot at that Can anyone help my out of this sticky situation? Thanks. I'll also accept sympathy and commiseration.
  10. I don't think anyone but the top PCL executives know how this is going to work. They could do it in several different ways: Block off a section of the theater based on the # of premium packages sold on that cruise Some days before the cruise, announce the shows, ask if the premium guests are interested in attending, and offer them a chance to reserve seats. The reservation could be app-only, or tickets/vouchers to be distributed through the cabin stewards Ask the premiums if they want to attend, but don't offer them particular seats The premiums could come down to the theater and pick their seats and the theater would be closed to everyone else. The rest of the unwashed masses can get what's left. Ticket/seat reservation system for everyone, but with premium plan holders getting priority They could do something different than I described above; that's all I could think of in the few minutes I have to spare. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with.
  11. I can't say that I've been on a wrestling-themed cruise, but I was on a couple of music-themed cruises earlier this year. To make a long story short, they're VERY expensive, but worth it for fans of the participating acts and/or the era. In looking at Mr. Jericho's cruise in particular, it seems to offer a lot - a bunch of wrasslers to meet & greet, some musical acts (can we borrow Quiet Riot?), a few comedians, and some others to help move things along. Looks like fun for fans like your husband, but it might be too much for you. I don't know of any other cruises with a similar theme.
  12. First of all, thanks for sharing. Please continue! The lack of hand sanitizer stations on your ship seems unusual. I've noticed them in the stairwell of every ship I've been on since the restart (not just Celebrity). They didn't always WORK, but they were always there. I don't think we're far enough advanced that anyone would actually remove them. I also got two bottles of hand sanitizer on my cruise on the Millie last month.
  13. Ah! So that's where she is! I inquired on a different thread about a different ship wondering if the Whitney tribute act was her. It wasn't. But I did get some nice comments about Ashlie in that thread. I'll see her on a different Celebrity cruise (a charter) in a few months. You'll see her sooner than that, lucky dog. 🤩 Funny thing about crowds... on my cruise on the Millie last month, I saw the show Boogie Wonderland and the vocalist Kristina Wells. I thought both were good, but neither came close to filling the theater. There were under 200 people at each show, which was a shame. Lots of excuses for it - starting with the fact that the ship was clearly not close to capacity.
  14. Thank you for sharing. It sounds like I'm in for a very good time.
  15. Sweet! Thanks for sharing. It sounds like I'm in for a good time. Thanks. I'm pretty sure Ms. Amber is a different person than you saw. IMHO, It's tough to go wrong with Whitney Houston songs - assuming the singer is good.
  16. The whys and wherefores of the vaccination card have been covered by others. I have nothing to add. I suspect Celebrity has the right to test those that they see with explicit symptoms, but I doubt they bother with more than a few of those in that group these days. Otherwise, no test required on short cruises - and it's been that way for a few months now. On to the portion I highlighted about the rules - OMG! You have no idea! The vaccination, testing, documentation, embarkation, and disembarkation requirements have been in a constant state of flux since we were allowed to cruise again. Things have stabilized, relatively speaking, and I don't think we're going to go back to where we were. But we could. I've decided to just roll with things rather than let it all get to me. I'm glad you're doing the same. Have a great cruise!
  17. Was your special guest named Ashlie Amber by chance? I have a date with her on one of my upcoming music charters. Anyway, I'm glad you and your husband found a lot to enjoy about your cruise. Two more addicts have been created! 😁
  18. Maybe now (well, definitely now ☹️), but in the past I've been able to book Journeys cruises for some nice prices. There's no telling when those days will come again.
  19. I was on a cruise to St. Lucia last month. I traveled with my passport, but nobody on the island checked for it either getting on or getting off. The cruise line didn't warn me that I needed one either when booking or on the ship. BTW, St. Lucia is a wonderfully lush and quirkily beautiful island if you appreciate such things. MARTINIQUE, on the other hand, DOES require a passport to visit (or did when I was last there 3 years ago). The cruise line warned me when I booked of this requirement.
  20. I'm looping back to this because I thought a bit about it. For me, the turndown is the least important because I don't usually leave much of a mess and don't mind wallowing in whatever filth I created. Here's how I rank the services provided during evening service: The newsletter for the next day - Yes, I've planned everything out based on what I've seen in the schedule on the app. But I like the extra details the newsletter provides. The chocolate - I'm a sucker for sugary goodness, and though I've probably had too much dessert an hour or two before, those things get wolfed down in a hurry - usually while reading the newsletter. The flyer - I like the way they put 4 or more ads on the same page these days. It saves on paper at the cost of some readability. Sometimes these ads tell me something I don't know about things I'm interested in. The turndown
  21. Thanks for sharing. Those speeds remind me of home (though the latency there is much lower). It would be nice if they could sustain this and have similar throughput on all their ships. 🙏
  22. Hello! I don't have a lot of advice for you and your group, but here's my two cents: I second the advice to try to find a good travel agent that specializes in cruises - but not one that specializes in a single cruise line. Good luck finding one. Think hard about what your group likes and wants to do on this cruise. Love good comedy? There's a cruise line for that. Like Broadway(ish) shows? There's a cruise line for that. Are you a bunch of foodies? There's a cruise line for that. Desire rock climbing walls, escape rooms, rollercoasters, paintball, and/or go-karts? Pick the ship that has the features you want. Though I don't think itinerary is going to matter much for this trip, there are differences in what each island has and what there is to do and see. There aren't any Mayan ruins in the Bahamas, for example. I think the youngsters are going to be the harder ones to please on a cruise, so listen especially hard to what they want I'll be mocked as a heretic by the old salts and fanfolks, but I think the mainstream cruise lines and ships are all more alike than different. They'll all show you a good time if you let them. Choosing by price isn't the WORST thing in the world. Good luck choosing, and have fun!
  23. I'm sorry you're not enjoying the food on the Millie. As I mentioned upthread, I was on the same cruise three weeks ago. I liked the food just fine, though I did find the buffet a little repetitive. I will note that I'm not a foodie, didn't ever eat at the buffet for lunch, don't mind eating the same thing multiple days in a row, and also lost weight (due to the appalling amount of snacking I do at home - not Celebrity's fault).
  24. Sad news - Irene Cara passed away last week and Christine McVie was called home today. One by one they're all leaving us...
  25. There's no formal limit on carry-on size, just whatever can fit in the scanner in the terminal. Those scanners, in my experience, will hold larger items than the ones in airports.
