Sure you can, but it doesnt look like you will be doing much on your cruise. Sounds like fun .....

Well if you look closer, you'll see that those restricted spots are places that kids can't go or shouldn't go. So at night when little Johnny & Sally are hanging at kids r us, you'll be hanging w/ the Mommys & Daddys. Isn't this fun!

The fact is you and everybody else doesn't have to take a cruise. If you don't like the protocols, don't go. It's really pretty simple folks. The other alternative is to start your own cruise line and establish the rules as you see fit.

Aww but we can. We can all cruise w/ kids and unvaccinated peeps! And if you don't like that, you can always stay in home... or start your own cruiseline! See how that works?

RCL is saying vaccinations aren’t mandatory, just Celebrity. So much for the 95% with them. What would you expect them to say “We’re floating petri dishes, sail at your own risk”? Comparing cruises with schools is like comparing apples and oranges.

RCL wanted the $$$. They went for the 'unvsaccinated family market'. They got it.

Now they're putting restrictions in play when the $$$ & bookings came in.

Because on the ship one will be subject to cruise ship medicine , possible evacuation to a city in which the passenger probably does not live and 2 weeks of the entire traveling party quarantined in a hotel or such.

Getting sick at home is much differ than getting sick abroad.

Well you're comparing what happens to you or others. I was responding  to a statement of

"I don't understand why anyone wants to take that risk with their children."  My response was that per RCL people are safer on a ship than on land which also translates to children are safer on a cruise ship than they are in a classroom.

First of all it won’t be limited to 95% vaccinated. We are planning a family reunion at my brothers mountain home and my son and DIL have 2 kids (ages 3 and 7) who can’t yet be vaccinated. They wouldn’t commit to coming for the planned weekend until we verified everyone is fully vaccinated. There will be a total of 21 of us in a main house that sleeps 25 and a guest house that sleeps 10. So we clearly won’t be on top of each other. But there’s no way they would have put their kids at risk if there was even one person unvaccinated.

    That's extreme by any measure.

Maybe because you control the environment at home?  You control the contacts and the risk at home.  If you think it's worth the risk, we differ in opinion.

There is more'control' on a ship w/ 95% vaccinated people than a school room w/ 15 to 30 kids per room, multiplied  and a school building w/ 20-30 rooms. Yep... we most definitely differ in opinion.

You know what I don't understand?  I want to cruise again under normal conditions as much as much as anyone.  I also don't have any young children.  Covid is still out there and children will catch it.  Sure most kids won't get seriously ill but some will.  I don't understand why anyone wants to take that risk with their children.  If I had a young child we wouldn't cruise as a family until everyone could get vaccinated or Covid fades into the sunset.  Just my opinion.  I don't understand Royal's approach.

Well according to RCL, the ships will be in better shape than anywhere on land. With kids starting school in 6-8 weeks, why would they not want to go on a a ship w/ 95% vaxed vs a school w/ a much much lower % ?

I guess I am surprised because of all the restrictions on board (fees for testing, separate venues, wearing of masks, etc.) that so many decided to cruise this summer rather than wait until things are less restrictive. I have no words is all....not being negative in any way...

20% of the fleet is sailing at 40% of capacity and summer is only another 8 weeks.

I'm speechless that folks can't understand how this all pencils out.

  9. RCL is playing this thing really poorly and I think it's a disgrace. They announce because they are kid friendly cruiseline they'll allow them on board unvaccinated but then they come out every other day w/ a new policy against these same unvaccinated kids. They're back peddling. They didn't have the guts to tell families to wait to cruise like Carnival, Disney, and other lines have. Now they're back peddaling. And the only reason they're issuing refunds is because they know they can't win in court. Selling one thing and delievering another... it's called Bait & Switch.

  10. My suggestion is to book a cruise. And then when right before you take off for vacation be it flying or driving check to see what is required. Then once you get to the port, check again. Because the requirements for today, Monday @ 4pm CST and then at 5pm CST can change and be different.

    Good luck.

I couple of links people might want to check periodically... since things are in flux

Celebrity protocols... look for link to info by departure port

Royal Caribbean protocols -- again look for details by departure port

But I saw this on the Celebrity page which I found forceful..given Florida passport ban..Royal dances around this... Celebrity doesn't...

That's interesting. Our cards have no stamp whatsoever. Of any kind. I think this is nothing but a CYA scare tactic. I'm not saying they may not try,  but they could not prove any type of fraud w/ the card we were issued. No signature and no agency stamp of any kind.

is that why RCI is not requiring vaccinations for cruises out of FL?

FWIW, we will have an unvaccinated kid with us. There is no way to achieve 100% vaccination on the cruise, unless RCI bans all kids under 12.

and even then a cruise may not be 100%...i.e. Millenium out of St.Martin.

    Covid happens.

Actually this causes me concern, as more unvaccinated choose to cruise the likelihood of the variant finding hosts increases. I pray the children do not need to be hospitalized. And pray more people 16 -50 choose more vaccination. This is still nothing to treat lightly.

Actually, the number of non vaccinated passengers I believe will be decreasing not increasing.  As the age requirement drops to age 12 soon. This change will force the parents to either cancel or vaccinate their kids.

In your post #82 you quoted and replied to Ace as saying that, I was commenting on his post not yours.  Sorry you misunderstood, clear now?

    Yes. We're clear.

Your post (#98) clearly identifies me as posting something I did not post. How you managed to do this is beyond me. But I think you were commenting on my post but about what Ace had posted. Odd as that is.

Not taking the bait for the argument you've tried to start on multiple threads.  Sorry, not sorry.

    Good.

The fact is people like yourself want to cruise. Then when cruising starts, the complaining starts.  They're have been four cases found. Two w/ vaxed people. Two w/ non vaxed people. Neither cruise was ruined. Yet here I read more posts complaining. The facts show that one can not prevent covid from getting on a ship.  So go ahead... cruise w/ covid.

Because (1) I don't want my cruise cut short by an outbreak among the vaccinated and (2) I don't want to get kicked off the ship mid-cruise and/or quarantined in the Bahamas or Mexico if I test positive because of that outbreak.

Well we all saw what happened for this sailing. The non-vaxed kids did not ruin the cruise for others. And you won't be 'kicked' off a cuise if you're vaxed. The protocals in place proved they worked. If you still have concerns, you should use the Cruise with Confidence program and apply it. You probably shouldn't go.

That's really funny considering I wasn't even replying to YOU.  That wasn't even your quote that I referenced????  Ace said that not you, right?  Well anyway I don't consider what I said nasty at all, just my views on a cruise not being a prison...are you confused?  And...I did not mention you or anyone in particular in the first place.  Why would you think I was talking to you when you just quoted Ace???????

    Touchy

Your quote shows my name. I have no idea why either as I did not post that.

The part that I’m happiest about is that the media hasn’t really given this case, or the case in the Millennium, a lot of air time. I guess it’s because there’s no drama, mass quarantining, ships stranded at sea, deaths, etc, so it’s not “news worthy”.

In my humble opinion, it’s a good thing that these cases are occurring, because they prove that the protocols do work, and that may ease some of the fears that passengers adamant about booking their next cruise may be happen.

Agreed. and people are tired of covid, covid issues, covid quarantines, covid, covid, covid. Bottomline is it's old news and the media has now moved on to hyping the opening up, the states w/ low vaccines and the variants in an effort to hit 70%.

So chances are good, more will show up with a postive test tomorrow....I can't think that facial recognition works 100% to clear all the contacts those 2 children came in contact with. Time will tell......

Well that's what our vaccines are for!
