  1. Thanks for all the great suggestions! I'm familiar with most of those bars, but the suggestion for Adagio's never occurred to me. I think we will try that first, but the others will certainly be on our list for other nights. I figured as much on Fusion. Seems like the last time we sailed on Princess, which was right before the "shut down", that club was empty unless after dinner usually. Doug
  2. We have a cabin on deck 9 aft. I was looking at the deck plans to find a bar located near the Botticelli MDR. Club Fusion looks the closest, but I wonder if that bar is open early, like 1700/5PM? We have early reservations in the Botticelli around 1730. If anyone has a bar recommendation/suggestion please let me hear it.😎 Doug
  3. That is my understanding also, I meant to add that to my post but forget. TriCare is never the primary insurance, but would come into play if your situation exceeded the coverage of your primary. I've never had to do that, and I don't recall how it would work. Perhaps someone else has? Doug
  4. I have TFL and Medicare. I have never had to file a claim outside the USA however with those. I always get "trip" insurance within days of booking a cruise, with enough coverage for everything I can think I would need coverage. Fortunately I have only had to cancel cruises before they happened, so I avoided all the stress of handling that mess: I have cancelled myself, or had cancelled (Hurricane Irene about 8 years ago) only 2-3 times in forty years. Oh, I did have a $50 claim once for a visit to the ship's doctor while onboard once....I almost didn't bother; figured it would he a hassle filing out the paperwork....which is was.....then it took 7 weeks for reimbursement. I don't know how TriCare would handle an emergency such as we're discussing in the thread. Since I have always get "trip" insurance anyway I don't worry about that. Knock on wood I never had to find out how they'd handle it!🙄 Doug
  5. Yeah, I saw that. Not good news since NCL is one of the few cruise lines where we can drive to their ship (NOLA). The other bad news about NCL is their prices - CRAZY high for 2024!😪 Doug
  6. Ha, I do remember watching those as you did, it was indeed entertaining! I think the cruises I remember on the promenade were on NCL and Carnival maybe, several years ago. They all run together after awhile. Doug
  7. The above two posts sound great, and just like Celebrity did. Sure beats what we've done in the past, maybe 15 years ago. Often we'd muster on the promenade deck then wait\ for everyone else to check in. Often it was hot and humid, seemed to take forever just to find out where the muster station was and "learn" how to put on a life jacket. I'm a staunch believer in safety after 25+ years in aviation, but come on.😎 Like we used to say, the guy responsible for your safety is the one looking at you in the mirror. Doug
  8. Are they electronic, as in watch on the cabin TV or on your phone or tablet? Or is Princess back to the muster in person muster drill, such as in the theater, etc? It's been years for us on a Princess ship. We've sailed on NCL and Celebrity in 2022 and they were doing electronic drills then. Well, that is except on Celeb we had to drop by the actual muster location just to have our cards scanned. Quick, easy and convenient....no comment other than that.😉 Doug
  9. Yeah, it's a crap shoot, and I am not a gambler. ANY of the signature suites (or better) would be acceptable except for those on deck 5. We'll just wait until our next HAL cruise and try to book early enough to get a firm cabin assignment. Doug
  10. Yeah, I saw that. I guess my memory isn't as good as I thought it was! Actually even at $25 per bag (we only had one each) that was considered a terrific deal! Doug
  11. Wow, I stand corrected! Paying $25 per person is a truly wonderful price to avoid lugging luggage <pun, right?> around the terminal, onto the transport, and checking it at the airport. We're flying into FLL this fall and we will want to do that on our return flight for sure. Doug
  12. Are the SS balconies on deck 5 very small? The one video I could find shows SS5098 with a very thin balcony. Thanks for the good info on the Signature suite locations. We wanted one on this cruise (21Oct2023) but looks like we'll have to stay with our aft view VB cabin. Doug
  13. We're thinking of getting a Signature Suite "Guarantee" cabins on the N Amsterdam. I see categories SS, SY and SZ. There are no Signature suites available for booking today. SZ is the "guarantee" category I think. There are only 2 SYs on deck 5, all the way forward and they appear to be handicapped accessible only. There are only 4 SYs on deck 6. Those have "odd" shaped balconies just forward of the "hump". The same for deck 7, again 4 SYs with similar dimensions. Category SS appears to be the most abundant Signature suite on the ship. There are 4 SSs on deck 5. I'd assume they have the same cabin and balcony size as other SS cabins, but the only video I found on SS5098 shows a very small balcony. The cabin looks the same as all the other SS cabins. I assume the other 3 SS cabins on deck 5 are the same since they are all located next to each other. There are many SS cabins on deck 6. The videos I have found for those show a much larger balcony than those for SS cabins on deck 5. Can that be right? We'd like to get a Signature cabin, but NOT if it has a small balcony as indicated in the one video I found for SS5098 on deck 5. If anyone has stayed in the Signature suites on the N Amsterdam, especially those four on deck 5 and compare the balcony to an SS on deck 6, I'd really like to hear from you! Doug
  14. We're used that in the past with Princess at FLL, and it's convenient. Not all airlines are included however as that document says.
  15. Where is that AC outlet? I have not been able to find a YouTube video showing anything but a USB outlet near the beds (above the nightstand). Is it perhaps a "European" plug underneath the bed like many ships have? Doug
  16. I'm not sure the $25 per piece of luggage answers the "Luggage Direct" question. I think, but am not positive, that the original Luggage Direct question referred to the service where luggage is picked up at one's home and delivered to one's cabin the day the ship sails; and the reverse. I have that service in FLL on Princess cruises in the past; it was something like "EZ-Check", available at $25 per piece of luggage at the end of the cruise where one's bag would be picked up outside the cabin, then be checked for the return flight, and available for pickup at the carousel at its termination. There may be additional information on the Florida Ports forum. Doug
  17. We took two Celebrity cruises in 2022; July on the Summit and October on the Infinity. Both were pleasant cruises in our opinion. We have another Celebrity cruise scheduled on the Reflection this coming November. We don't look forward to a crowded ship, but the last one on Infinity was not all that bad, maybe around 90%? We had no complaints although we're have liked the ship to be at 66% as was our NCL Breakaway in March 2023. But now I hear NCL is booking at capacity, so I expect that experience will not be repeated. I know we much prefer Celebrity over NCL. Doug
  18. Misery (or confusion) loves company, eh?😉 Doug
  19. We board in 35 days, final payment was made two months ago. We're Green in the App, but I don't see anything about a boarding time nor any QR code, whatever that is. However, we have a Princess airport transfer so selecting a boarding time is moot anyway; we'll arrive when the bus arrives. Doug
  20. Ah, thanks for setting me straight.😎
  21. Well, hopefully we will receive our Medallions before we fly to the departure port. But in any event, I will have a printed copy of anything I think could be used to show I'm "entitled" to board the ship: our Paid in Full invoice, our Princess Travel Summary, Passports, shot card and anything else I can think of that might get us on the ship! Yes, having that Medallion in our hot little hands will reduce the stress level a bit even though I can't see what's on the Medallion!😉 Doug
  22. Maybe I misinterpreted what I read above.....I occasionally will do that.🤔 Doug
  23. Our cruise from Galveston in in 35 days. We are both Green, all documents are there apparently. However, there is no QR code or anything else resembling a boarding pass on the app. I have already printed off our Travel Summary from Princess.com and I will be sure to have that in my hand when I show for check in. Remember when things were so much simpler....like before all these apps made life "so much easier and convenient" for us?😒 Doug
