  1. It gets like that down here too! Don't forget those that drive in the middle of the lanes . . .
  2. It is normally cheaper at Morrisons, Sainsburys and Tesco's in Penzance than here! I normally get petrol when I head that way.
  3. Our local garage was 188.9 when I passed this afternoon!šŸ˜²
  4. Morning all, hope everyone is fit and well or on the road to recovery. Forecast is for sunshine and showers, well we've had the sunshine and it's now raining. Off to meeet a friend for our weekly catch up at the local garden centre this afternoon, but other than that nothing planned. Enjoy your day.
  5. Hope those of you that are feeling poorly/under the weather feel better soon. I had a change of plans today as my granddaughter was sick yesterday while she was out shopping with her Mum so was drafted in today to babysit. As the weather has turned and her Dad's came back from work, I've returned home am having a coffee and catch up on here before I tackle my chores.
  6. Perhaps you will be notified of cabin allocation before your board near the timešŸ¤ž I had notification on my last cruise about two weeks beforehand.
  7. I have been on Iona and although I have not stayed in one of the cabins on deck 8 I would certainly not want to!!
  8. Just having a quick catch up after having a busy day hosting family with a BBQ and afternoon tea. Here's a few photos of our tea, my daughter's version of the trifle can be seen in the centre at the back of the table. (I forgot to take a photo of just the trifle!)
  9. Sorry to hear this, hope you feel better soon. It's been raining heavily down here most of the night and it's still raining, although it's than fine drizzly stuff! Have family coming round later for a BBQ and afternoon tea. Lots of things were made ahead of time so kitchen worktops are full of food defrosting that just need the finishing touches added. Hope everyone has a good weekend.
  10. We have a cruise booked for next May and some of the ports of call have some excursions available to book and others are saying we can book in 365 days! I booked a cruise in April this year about 8 weeks before sailing and although excursions were available to book others where added after this date.
  11. I normally do a google search for information and try to print off maps for our ports of call.
  12. Looks lovely. My daughter has made a version, without the Amaretti biscotti as we couldn't find any.
  13. About three weeks ago I transfered a 23 night cruise booked for January 2023 to a 14 night cruise in May 2023, without having to pay any extra. The 14 nighter costing considerably less than the 23 nights.
  14. Afternoon everyone, It's a nice sunny day again down here, and getting hotteršŸ˜ so am going to make the most of it as it forecast for rain tomorrow. Typical as we have arranged to have a BBQ and afternoon tea party, it might be a bit crowded indoors with 16 people and two dogs! Have had a busy morning. First thing headed out early on the hunt for Amaretti biscuits. First stop Home Bargains, they sell them but were out of stock, next Lldl and had to queue to get into the car park as half of it is closed due to an old mill next door becoming unsafe - again no. Next stop Marks, again out of stock and then Asda, again no joy, before returning home to wait for my Tesco order to be delivered. Loaded the fridge with drinks for tomorrow while waiting and since my order arrived have made some peach mousses for tomorrow, no having a bit of lunch before heading out into the garden. Hope you are all enjoying your day.
  15. We were on this cruise and did get to see Madeira - from afar!
  16. Another sunny morning down here and supposed to be warmer than yesterday toošŸ˜„ Happy Anniversary Purdey, enjoy your relaxing weekend. I am planning a BBQ and afternoon tea on Saturday, and checking the forecast it's supposed to rain. My daughter and granddaughter are taking Mum out for lunch, but as Mum can't get into my daughter's van she asked if she could borrow my car and invited me along. So guess I'm chauffeuršŸ¤£ Have a good day and enjoy the BH weekend, whatever plans you have. Pam
  17. Try La Palma which is the port in Mallorca. It sounds as though your itnerary is the similar to ours in May 2023 as we call at La Coruna, Mallorca, La Spezia, Marseilles, Barcelona and Cadiz. La Coruna we might have a wander, the same in Mallorca, La Spezia we have relations in Pisa so they might travel out to meet us, Marseille not decided, Barcelona have been before so possibly another wander and Cadiz I want to take a trip to Saville as I didn't make it this year!
  18. I remember Palma violets - and never did like them and still don't! I don't rmember chocolate cigarettes, but remember the white ones and we too pretended to smoke, but it is something that I have never done in real life! Growing up cream soda was often added to a tall glass of ice cream so it all fizzed up and became ice cream soda. Does anyone remember milk bottles, milk teeth, shrimps and bananas as well as candy necklaces?
  19. We have been to La Coruna. We didn't go into the town as we booked a trip to Santiago de Compestela but docked near the town. Mallorca port is quite a walk to the town centre, and when I have been on other occasions, (not with P&O) there has been a shuttle bus dropping and taking back from near the cathedral in the town. I believe that P&O also offer a shuttle bus service. I find google maps helpful in finding the location of the ports and other information of the surrounding area.
  20. It's only about 14 down here, and forecast to get to the heady heights of 15oC!
  21. Also Fruit Salad. Sherbert fountains were another of those nostalgic sweets.
  22. Morning all, hope everyone is well. Another mixed day by the look of it weather wise. The last couple of days we've had showers or rain to start, followed by sunny afternoon's. So will wait and see what today brings! Meeting a friend this afternoon at the local garden centre for a coffee and a chat. Will be nice to meet up as we haven't done so for a while.
