  1. Here he is ready to go, old Oli cat is showing her disinterest.
  2. I have a wheelchair, but it is too heavy for Mrs Gut on her own, was fine when I could help her get it in and out of the car, but that is just not possible anymore and the lighter power chairs get the higher the price, and don’t start me on the NDIS. The ramp isn’t going to be a real hurdle we don’t think in fact the TAS kids at her school are looking at building me one. There are so many things in the system that make me shake my head in wonder. This year alone I have had the Ambos out at least 12 times just to get me off the ground total billing’s over $20K not counting keeping an ambulance out of circulation for probably 1-2 hours each time, many times two ambulances once six, on two occasions they have used a pneumatic device that costs about $10K but will health fund, NDIS etc provide one we could just use saving all that time and money, not in your Nellie. Then because I had to stop working the cost of my medications went up between 3 and 8 times. It is just so crazy. This is the contraption they use, it lays totally flat and then slowly inflates to raise me to a fitting position, than raises to the same height as a wheelchair seat.
  3. Thanks Lyle, concentrating now on less falls, probable means more wheelchair, which means a ramp and probably a chair that Mrs G can get in and out of the car by herself, and on the dream list is a lifter to get me off the floor if and when needed without needing ambos. But small steps.
  4. Your understand 1-6 look right to me. Questions 1. I wouldn’t say the service fee us common, but nor is it unusual, it should be on a sign if it applies, but sometimes the signs are easy to overlook. It is one charge that can be added as it isn’t a compulsory charge, ie paying cash avoids it. It is b3cause of the charges credit companies charge retailers supposedly retailers can recoup that cost from the customer, but I think some add a tad more. 2. RATs currently available in so many stores, Chemists (pharmacy) and many convenience stores and there are a few of each around where you are staying. 3. Plenty of ATMs though some charge a fee (privately owned) might be worth checking with your card issuer if they have a partner in Aus that charges no fee, also you may need to get a PIN issued as I understand from some of your countrymen but if you are already using ATMs at home I guess you are right to go. 4. and 5. I’ll leave to the flyers, because flying has been off our agenda for many many years.
  5. My Maxy means so much to me, Oli cat is OK but I have always preferred dogs to cats. I think poor Oli has felt abandoned too often, she was dumped as a baby, our daughter got her from a rescue, so she may have felt that was another abandonment, then the daughter had to pass or on to us, she now leaves the room when our daughter arrives and is stand offish with everyone except Maxy, we are lucky they get on so well.
  6. Yeah I have heard of it, never had one but friends have. But that is probably statistics. Strewth we must have owned 30 or so dogs over the years (we used to breed and show) but that was nothing compared to some we have known, one friend had about 100 Doberman’s and a few other breeds, another would have had 30+ Dogs of various breeds at any one time. So there aren’t many conditions we haven’t seen in dogs over the years. And most breeds have their own regular condition with the rare ones thrown in from time to time.
  7. No Miss G (as she used to be) is intolerant, not full blown coeliac, Mrs G is meat intolerant, tries to largely eat Vegan but can get by Vegetarian and once in a pink fit allows herself a little meat and little fried food (her pancreas is to blame). Meanwhile Mr Gut eats what he likes. On a side note Harry has changed his pastry in some way.
  8. Well……. He said no surgery. But also said, because I couldn’t give you any help. Also said the pain will improve, but also said it could take years, but also said it shouldn’t get any worse, so a little good and a little bad
  9. Well, had to see spine specialist today. It was great ‘cause Mrs G bought me Harry’s for being a good little vegemite. Tiger for me, Vegetable Tiger with no gravy for her, then because I was being extra good Pastie with Cheese Sauce for afters, but they were out of Custard Tarts.
  10. To be totally honest, in my opinion more alike than different in so many ways I would suggest there is about as much difference from two ships from the one company as between one from each company, though Princess tend to an older demographic. But that is here in Aus so it may be different where you are sailing.
  11. And your paying me for what I know, so I’m not giving it to you for free.
  12. Never tried to enter OPT upper on a cruise day, one problem would be you’d be going against the flow trying to get to luggage drop, and no Gbenjo makes me find him, then expects that he get special treatment, plus we mainly cruse Princess to avoid him. I think our Princess cruises outnumber all the other lines put together 2or 3 to 1.
  13. But then there are incompetent people in pretty much any job.
  14. Some tradesmen are extremely talented, others are more like me useless at that sort of thing, what puzzles me is those with my skills who make videos of their butchery.
  15. We don’t use the stairs, wheelchair doesn’t like them we just walk the extra few metres and use Circular Quay Way which on non cruise days is the car park entry.
  16. Thanks Lyle, not much fun only times I’ve left the house for two weeks is by ambulance, but my boy helps.
  17. One regular greets him by name. Most want to have a chat with him.
  18. I used to stay at the Rydges a lot when it was. Holiday Inn haven’t stayed there since the conversion but have stayed at Plenty of their other properties, it was looking a little tired last I stayed there, hopefully Rydges have done a bit of work. But it’s location if cruising out of OPT is just unbeatable, I usually get up early and watch my ship come in. Time and fare airport to city depends on time of day and week, but roughly half an hour and 50 or 60 bucks.
  19. Sorry to hear your trip has been cut short, you must be devastated, glad to hear you are a5 least getting full future credit.
  20. We bought him home to our daughters Dalmatian who was getting on in years and health, we were worried how they’d go till the Dal bought his favourite toy and dropped it at Max’s feet, best mates till Bones died, then poor Max looked everywhere for him for weeks.
  21. Haven’t got it set up yet, waiting for son in law to give her a hand lifting it, but could be a life saver getting off the dunny has been a real problem.
  22. Maxy is 5 1/2, Oli a bit younger, my daughter got her from a cat rescue meant to be short hair (they sure got that wrong the fur ball she is) then daughter gets a husband who is allergic to cats, so are his kids, so who gets the cat. But al least the6 get on great, wrestle try to hide from each other chase around the furniture and then swap who does the chasing. Great mates
  23. He is a handsome boy it is a pity neither of us are up to showing him he’d do his share of winning, but yep I know when he has the huffs, especially when Oli gets what he thinks is his spot, on me, on Mrs G’s chair on the bed, on the cushions, just about anywhere.
  24. On a happier not and if it’s TMI don’t read any further, Mrs G bought me a dunny seat that lifts me back to my feet
