  1. Means a lot Uncle Les. Might get together one day over a pie or a feed of Ching if I can travel again.
  2. Yep that just about sums it up, only time 8 have left the house in the last 8 weeks is on a stretcher but then they won’t bring you home that way and after sitting for half an hour to drive home I am right back where I started. So far surgeon says way too much wrong to have much hope of surgery, but also said if there was such a thing as an Explosion fracture that’s what he’d call it, bits of bone into the nerves, bits causing bleeding bits just floating around, he is currently talking to few other surgeons to see if a team effort can at least clean it up a bit.
  3. I can always do Maxy spam sorry middle one is upside down, but Maxy do need a cushion for hims little head, top one is him with his mate Hisser (real name Oli, sharing space on my knee, the dirty look is because she is further up than him, he doesn’t mind sharing, just wants his spot closest to me.
  4. Maxy is so good while the ambos work on me as long as he can see what they are doing but goes off at Mrs G when they take me away.
  5. Thanks everyone, things didn’t go as well as they could, it has been a rough few weeks. Anniversary mid Aug had a great day, even went to see mum (it was their 69th anniversary same day and dad’s inNursing home so she was doing it tough) Next day had mini stroke outside, tried to get up sooner than I should, fell, on concrete) neighbours four blocks away heard the screaming (probably registered as m8nor earthquake too with my fat acre hitting the ground). Off to hospital, scan some Panadol, “OK you can go home”. We looked at the scan but radiologist will look at it and report we will ring if there is anything. Two plus weeks later “High this is Maitland Hospital just checking who operated on your burst fracture in your back, we have no record … what you didn’t know about it… we will contact a spine specialist and get back to you” “Spine specialist says after all this time nothing can be done.” Ambos a few times for pain relief, made me go to hospital a few times, hospital admits there is nothing they can do, though one lovely doctor ‘wow you are in interesting case, mind if I get the junior doctors to read it during the week”. So off to ER again Tuesday after another fall and unbearable pain, won’t give me even the amount of pain killer I have at home. Stroke specialist comes on from holidays to check, I want you to have an EEG to see if there is more than just the artery problems. I tell the ER that, they do nothing about it. Go hame about midnight (no bed alternate is stay in ER all night, guarantee a fresh mini stroke anyway. Thursday booked for EEG and angiogram of brain, so proof I have one anyway. Have the EEG (yet to get official report but unofficially all clear. Angioram put off to Friday due to emergency, that’s fine, things come up. But Tell angiogram people that there is no way I can lay flat on my back for four hours (had to least time I had one) that’s OK but how about on the angiogram table, me if it is only about half hour like last one I will get through, yeah on it over two hours, thinking “Wow didn’t think I’d be this sore in half an hour.” Again less pain relief than I have at home. And they wonder why I am ready to die.
  6. On a longer cruise I have been known to take Power folding wheelchair Walker Sticks as that’s what I use at home, the minimum to get through the day. I prefer a power chair to a scooter, but recently bought one for longer trips to the shops now I gave up driving.
  7. We had a sheltered balcony, it was a bit like a well with a large hole cut into it, not much more obstruction than a normal balcony that has metal under the rail not glass.
  8. Firstly which terminal are you sailing from. Do you have any hotel affiliations? do you have any special interests? Where are you coming from, it can be long trip which will cut into your two days with jet lag and just plain exhaustion. But meantime. We really like Rydges at the Rocks, literally over the road from the Overseas Passenger Terminal. And the Grace which is more centrally located. It is well worth a walk around the Opera House, Rocks Botanic Garden area. A Ferry trip on the Harbour is also great value. Airport to hotel I’d suggest a Taxi or Uber, there is a train, but that means lugging your bags and by the time you pay for two isn’t much less cost than a taxi. Hotel to terminal really depends on which hotel and which terminal (OPT or White Bay).
  9. Wish me good luck, had to go to hospital yesterday for s9me tests. Just sitting 8n the car long enough to get there was hell (and home again) got one test done they had to conceal the other as there was an emergency situation (fair enough) but now I have to try and get through it all again today, so I guess I just drug myself to the eyeballs and try to get through it.
  10. Pretty sure I took the same bags on my 2 night cruise as our 35 night one. By the same token we did 5 nights where she and younger she took carry on I took backpack. It is what it is.
  11. I still have it from time to time, not bad on a fried egg either.
  12. I don’t mind Tom sauce and vinegar together on chips. Dad loves Worcestershire sauce mixed with Tom sauce on his pie. A truck spot we use$ to stop at a lot had it premixed in little containers.
  13. Sometimes they will wand, sometimes a pat down.
  14. Interesting not one I’ve heard of before. Got a mate in the US, one of his jobs (he has a few) is setting guitars for bands after they have been banged about in transit, adjusting the neck, bridge nut, tuning etc. he has some great stories about gear he has worked on and artists he has worked for. one of his favourite stories is setting for someone (he often has no idea who it is for, can easily find out but doesn’t bother) starts playing a few Riffs, hears someone behind him setting up the drums, not unusual, drummer starts playing along with him, cool he thinks. Till they finish and he sees who was setting the drums, yep he was jamming with Ringo.
  15. No good to me Uncle Les, turn the clock back 40 years and I’m still married to the only girl I ever wanted to be married to.
  16. Which Port? and what are your interests? Assuming Hobart, Salamanca Markets and the General area is interesting, Port Arthur is worth considering but from Hobart you lose a lot of time driving. Likewise from say Burnie, Cradle Mountain offers a lovely day out but again a lot of time lost driving, though it can be a lovely drive. If you are interested in hiring a car a self drive trip to Ross Via Richmond is very nice, with some interesting stops on the way, then take the Midland Highway is a quicker trip back.
  17. Or Vodafone, worst coverage but some great reseller deals if you are sticking to the major areas, we use Kogan.com who have some great prices.
  18. No way I’d be able to cruise with just a Walker. Distances on a ship are just too vast for me now and with medical costs on a ship, falls are too expensive, but even out side those considerations inPort becomes a nightmare. Though I do prefer a compact power wheelchair to a scooter.
  19. 22” is the seat, just under 24” at the widest part. Would fit a standard cabin door way (judg8ng purely by eye) but the door takes up about an inch when open
