  1. Do you have the Plus or Premier package? If so, there should be no charge.
  2. The app now shows us needing to order medallions. The website correctly shows that we have already ordered them.
  3. I linked with my daughter’s booking number on the old app and reserved a table for all of us. On the new app I still have a table for six, but I thought I could see the names of my linked table mates on the old app and can no longer. Your post is a reminder to check with them that they still show a table for six at the correct time and location. I agree that the new app brought new problems.
  4. It means you’ve paid for those things. It isn’t automatic. You will still need to select the holder and request delivery.
  5. Does this cheese free pizza show up on the menu or do I have to ask for it?
  6. Maybe it’s a tool for ordering ingredients for the galley. Maybe it’s a trigger for staff training. Maybe, if no one advised them in advance, they could shut down the special galley. Who knows? It takes all of a minute to fill out.
  7. Same here. We were never fans of all aspects of traditional dining. We like having a reservation, and the same waitstaff is nice. But table sharing has been less than ideal in the past.
  8. We got it to work on Sapphire, did not try it on Caribbean. I do need not think we will need it for Enchanted in June because we are a table of 6. But I’m prepared to ask.
  9. You can google spring break dates and see when colleges across the US and Canada will be on break next year. March has the most, but there are some schools out at the end of February and beginning of April. We sailed Caribbean princess in week 1, March 2023 and saw no kids on a 10 day voyage. We liked the ship, saw nothing to complain about. Best crew we’ve ever encountered. Some complaints may be legitimate. Toilets don’t work. A/C fails. But they’re isolated. Don’t read these and think the whole ship needs to be fixed. In most, if not all cases, those issues have been corrected and new ones have cropped up. And guess what - the same things can and do happen on every ship on every line on every cruise. Equally isolated. You stand a very good chance of an excellent, issue-free cruise on all of them. Enjoy your cruise whatever you decide.
  10. There is an element of gambling involved. Some of us have secured excellent upgrades. Some find themselves over a nightclub or under the pool deck. If you want something specific and it’s available, book it. Fully booked doesn’t mean there aren’t rooms available. There can be cancellations, and there is a maximum headcount that can be reached before all cabins are sold due to full utilization of 3 and 4 passenger cabins. Just like hotels, upgrade is in the eye of the beholder. Sometimes you will ask yourself “how is this better or worth more?” But going from an ocean view to a balcony, the difference is apparent.
  11. RE: giving money to Princess in advance. For a 7 day cruise for 2, I give Princess $840 for Plus. I can earn 4% interest in my money market account. That amounts to $2.80 for every month Princess holds my money. I don’t worry about numbers that small when I’m paying thousands for the cruise.
  12. I book with an auto club TA that does participate.
  13. Avoid the Strip Loin. Tough like Shoe Leather. But it is the steak that shows up most frequently.
  14. At least go back once and get the names of the offenders for your post-cruise survey.
  15. The kitchen is preparing thousands of dinners every night. They won’t miss you if you decide to eat elsewhere on a whim. In all likelihood, your meal will not be prepared until you arrive and sit down. Most of the ingredients are interchangeable and will be used elsewhere and turn up on someone else’s plate. You need not feel guilty at all. There is much more general food waste on a cruise than on land because it’s already been paid for. People will order multiple dishes and try only a bite. Some will leave heaping piles of untouched food on plates in the buffet because their eyes were bigger than their stomachs. Avoid that and you have nothing to worry about.
  16. Two points that may have been overlooked. Both passenger one and two in a cabin must be on the same FARE. So if you select the Plus FARE, so must your cabin-mate. A single individual may purchase the Plus beverage package at no obligation to others in the cabin. This is why it MAY make sense. If you pay to have your medallion shipped, but purchase Plus fare on board, you may contact Guest Services to obtain a $10 OBC refund.
  17. Hahaha. You don’t think people will show up at the wrong dining room, sit where they don’t belong and demand to be served?
  18. Only reservations for cruises departing Septmber 14 or later will be cancelled. My June 15 reservations will stay. one of the YouTube cruise bloggers ran an unscientific poll last week and got 3,000 replies. Only 18% want traditional dining. I project an imbalance.
  19. I don’t think you can receive a paper check anymore. The option wasn’t offered when I started collecting SS. Old rule - New times.
  20. I miss some aspects of my job. But there’s a lot I don’t miss. Typically retirees spend conservatively to start out. After 4-5 years, they realize they’re not immortal and draw from savings to live it up a little. Then health issues reduce travel and spending goes down for a while. Finally the health issues get serious and spending ramps back up. I’d like to think I’m set for all phases - just starting phase II. YMMV
  21. And if I do have to abandon ship, at least there are a couple bars handy for what might be my last drink.
  22. Let me try a slightly better shot. It clearly indicates with icon and print that my muster station is the captains circle loyalty desk. It looks odd and it might change. But that life preserver is pointing to a location. Does anyone show something different or is that a placeholder we all see until on board?
  23. On the app, I was looking at the “explore the ship” diagrams and noticed that in addition to restrooms, I could identify “muster station”. It only shows one, even if I switch to a different deck it takes me back to the same spot. Captains’s Circle loyalty desk is where it takes me every time. Will that be our muster station? If so, can I check in on my way up to my cabin (or lunch or the bar, depending on when we embark)?
  24. I have no idea what the majority wants, but I can predict chaos for the roll-out. I’m glad I’m not sailing the first week.
