  1. I recovered from my laziness and looked it up. The southern Barcelona docks (the one with the 5 terminals, A to E) have, or at least used to, berthing capacity for 10 ships. The new regs that will shut down the northern city center dock, also restricts the southern dock to 7 ships at any given time. This change is scheduled to come into effect Oct 23, 2023. In a nutshell, if through cruise mapper or similar, you discover there are 8 or more ships scheduled to be in Barcelona that day, something is going to have to give and at least one will have to be diverted to Tarragona.
  2. You have to share what you ordered. Come on, don't leave us hanging like this!
  3. As has been posted previously, the Northern dock, or World Trade Center dock, in Barcelona is closing later this month. Leaving the only option the Southern dock. I believe their capacity is either 7 or 10 berths (too lazy to look it up) meaning the port of Tarragona is going to becoming more prevalent in the future. Cruise lines will be listing it as Barcelona (Tarragona), similar to what they do with Rome (Civitavecchia).
  4. And I'm glad you enjoyed Cape Breton. Cape Bretoners or Capers, are some of the nicest and most entertaining people you will ever meet. Right along with Newfoundlanders.
  5. You forgot New Brunswick. You can't forget NB and I'll try not to take offence. And technically, NFLD (Newfoundland) is not a Maritime province. An Atlantic province but not a Maritime province.
  6. You would have to raise your concern with city officials. I'm just sharing information that I hoped others would find useful.
  7. Yes, southern docks not nearly as convenient, especially for pedestrians.
  8. The dock by the WTC is being closed in Oct. Environmental reasons of exhaust emissions too close to occupied areas of the city.
  9. Yes, DrKoob, please share your thoughts with us during or after the cruise. I lenjoy reading onboard experiences.
  10. I was arriving into Saint John from Fredericton and driving across the Harbour Bridge late this afternoon on my way to take my daughter for a birthday dinner when I caught a glimpse of the Vista in port. What an absolutely gorgeous ship, glistening in the late afternoon sun on a perfectly clear early autumn day in NB (leaves are starting to change!). We were preparing for Hurricane Lee last Friday so it was all a bit surreal. So jealous of those that have sailed on her and will be in the near future. You are in for a real treat. Only wish I could have got on board for a tour!
  11. Agree on the number of days on board as the more equitable way to award points. My next three O cruises are 20, 14 and 15 days. 3 cruise credits for 49 total days on board. Someone booking 3, 7-day itineraries. will earn the same credits. Come on.
  12. Yes, grocery stores or "mercados" are a great option, but you can also get spirits (and wine and beer) in what we would call convenience stores. Can't walk a half block in Barcelona without coming across one. If you are near Las Ramblas, the Carrefour Market is a good option.
  13. Similar to a Canadian booking a flight in the winter time? We all do it, and we hope for the best. That there will no weather delays or cancellations, and we get to our destination on time. I love Bermuda and understand why some booked on this cruise would be disappointed. A little compassion for people goes a long way.
  14. I'm in NB and they have issued a Tropical Cyclone Warning for the area. Lee is moving faster than expected. Projecting it will start impacting the Fundy Coast of NB (Saint John) Friday evening. If I was on board, I would want the captain to beat it out of Maine/NB coastal area and get clear of here.
  15. It also saves power, which saves cost. Sometimes the simplest explanation is the correct one. (Paraphrasing Occam's razor)
  16. Good to know, thanks. The Marina TA in Nov will be our first O cruise and I'm already stressed about specialty reservations! We are in A so dining reservations open up Sept 14th. Being in the Atlantic time zone, access starts for us at 1am! Oh to be on Pacific time in cases like this. And for Monday Night Football. 🙂
  17. I think you missed my point. I was pointing to a certain pronunciation based on the way it is spelled.
  18. Is the earlier bookings for specialties not also a nice perk?
  19. You're probably right on that, ORV. Thanks for that bit of background. I prefer O-she-anna as well. As I do with most American pronunciations and spellings. For example, why we English speaking Canadians spell "center" as "centre" is beyond me. Centre is the French spelling.
  20. Similar to "Aluminium" and "Aluminum". The former is the British spelling and it is pronounced al-you-min-ee-um. The latter is the American spelling and is pronounced a-loo-min-um. AS Oceania sticks that i near the end of the name I suspect it was/is intended to be pronounced O-she-ann-ee-ah.
  21. I've shared this before. I always follow the advice my father gave me "a man (or woman!) can never be overdressed, but he can definitely be under-dressed". That advice has always served me well over the years.
  22. According to the sample menus on the O site they are included. There are 3 or 4 listed. Probably not current or accurate, but a safe bet some dessert wine will be offered under the SM program as they were under OLife.
  23. JoePDX shared a nifty Word doc to create your own labels. I'm sure I have it saved somewhere, but a search should bring it up. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll send it along. I assume JoePDX is OK with this!
  24. The private tour options come up for me on a SM Marina TA in April.
