  1. Yes, it is Japan. This was in a 'Japanese' tourist class hotel. The water from the hand basin goes into the cystern for the next flush.
  2. To make it easier. What country was I in?
  3. I have cruised Alaska in June (2023), August and September. I think June was the best as there was still a lot of snow on peaks. Only had one rainy day in June and one rainy and very windy day in Juneau (August) - so windy that all flights were cancelled, fixed wing and choppers. Pic is Skagway in June.
  4. I felt flushed with embarrassment when I posted it.
  5. Thank you. It's been a few years since I was last there but the memory of those tubes has lingered. Next pic.
  6. That's sometimes the way with Roll Calls. I remember on one Alaskan cruise there was very little traffic on the RC. At the meet & Greet only six people turned up. A lot can depend on whether or not there are experienced cruisers on the RC as there are with one I'm on at the moment, people organising private tours, 23 pages and 572 posts.
  7. You can try reading this from post #177. You may find it helpfull - I did. BTW lyndarra is a he.
  8. My thoughts exactly. Great minds thinking alike.
  9. Have you checked your Roll Call yet? This is where Indonesian visa problems/glitches/quirks, are often discussed. That's where I got my info (most of which I've now forgotten) when I did the same cruise in 2023.
  10. I have done six or seven cruises on HAL, including Westerdam (Sydney-Singapore) and all have been great. Beds are very comfy with extra large pillows. Bathrooms have been roomy with shower over bath. Excellent choice of food in Lido, no worries if vegetarian. MDR food was excellent. HAL don't do the big production shows any more which suits me fine. There is plenty of live music and fun trivia. As previouly mentioned spend a coup[le of days pre or post cruise. My last NZ cruise, which was a few weeks before COVID shut down, we went a week early and rented a car and, staying in B&Bs, toured lots of interesting places. Westerdam is a Goldilocks size - not too big, not too small.🙂
  11. Found it! Secrets of Lost Liners. On SBS tonight at 8.30.
  12. Yep, I reckon Les would have got that.
  13. I saw this come up on the box recently. I have watched two episodes so far but I can't remember which day or channel. Last week's episode featured the MTS Oceanos which sank in 1991. Passengers were woken up by others who had noticed the ship taking water. No announcements from the bridge. No emergency alarm. Nothing. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&sca_esv=d22370baf961194e&q=cruise+ship+disasters&source=lnms&fbs=AEQNm0DPvcmG_nCbmwtBO9j6YBzM68ZanC7g01Skprhw5JoufVCiMv-hxC44jt6JduRQysBab-bgQXjPraaWFXMvOy8KVV8Cqqnjh1FpzmV51qF4k0cqVQGqmT-dql7iUyQ3NN5qglUncUNPp3ywOVvDmm3oScM0M2OxukMbSvE9zEi2c8NHCjhpb2l29v8xgWAuB2xn5yde-_vyR7uDGmE9600k_ZtUvQ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi6lZr6juyGAxUislYBHRoWDUgQ0pQJegQIEhAB&biw=1259&bih=846&dpr=1#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:f192ae.672ae0e3,vid:1sH16rH_39Y,st:380
  14. Trivia Question. Q. How many antlers are there? A. A bloody lot. Visted there too. Stayed at the local pub for about five or six nights as part of steam train tours of the highlands.
  15. I couldn't help thinking Easter Island embryos.🤪🙄
  16. Can see the Liver birds on top of the towers.
  17. Please, no French taunting.😉 Well, maybe un peu.
