  1. I had a leatherman in my checked bag boarding, either Celebrity Infinity or Millie, and it was detected. I had to go to the naughty room and open my bag. My leatherman was confiscated and returned to me at the end of the cruise. I no longer take it on cruises.
  2. You are correct. An easy one with answer in the photo. Your turn.
  3. Next pic. Looking for the name of the street.
  4. Thank you. I remember the turquoise waters driving past on our way to Mt Cook in March 2010. We were on our way to Wanaka and then to Milford Sound.
  5. Next on my long list of sNZ lakes. Tekapo?
  6. Another point. TaD asked for everyone's insurance details on arrival in Cairo. It's a trip I would like to do again.
  7. I have done an Egypt land tour with a four night river cruise. It was excellent however (warning Will Robinson) Egyptian 5* rating of river ships does not align with our experience - closer to 3*. Having said that, iot was still an enjoyable cruise. Our tour included Alexandria in the north (with a side trip to El Alamein) as well as Abu Simbel in the south. It was a trip deal and very well run, especially using mini-busses in Cairo instead of coaches due to traffic conjestion. There was an optional tour to Saqqara which I passed on and now regret. If you get the chance go there. The hawkers are no different to anywhere else. One trick they try is to offer you something to buy then "accidently" drop it. If you, being polite, pick it up, you've bought it.
  8. 1. Is a given, after all the thread is "Where was I". 2. Yes. Scenic or interesting. 3. That's a given as you can only be in one place at a time. Although, I have occasionally posted additional pics in the near vicinity as hints.
  9. My first thought was possibly New Zealand.
  10. I was following Mics thread over on HAL but I restrained myself from getting involved knowing Mic is a smart bloke who can look after himself. His initial post was fairly innocous but it certainly caused some to get their knickers in a twist. FYI Mic, my last four cruises have been HAL, two pre and two post COVID on four different HAL ships. I have noticed a difference in service, mainly, fewer servers trying hard to maintain HAL's previously high standard. I have always done my-time dining on HAL and have no complaints at all. Since COVID, I feel service has become a little slower but that suits me (and my cruising companions) as we like sharing tables and it allows time for easy, interesting and relaxed conversation with other diners.
  11. I have never experienced any cruise line checking passengers for visas. However, this does not mean it would never or has never happened. Some ports will have border force officials checking but I've never seen it happen on any South Pacific islands.
  12. Ships usually handle it. They did on my HAL cruise last year for those who did not do it themselves. I have just had a look at my roll call posts for my 2 Jan 2023 cruise and saw that I did my visa application about two weeks before departure. There was much discussion about the Visa application process in December prior. There was no mention, that I recall, of how far in advance you can apply. It would or should be mentioned somehere on the Indonesian gov site i.e. validity time period.
  13. CKS Sydney airport hotel shows a double king room for $152 (Booking.com) for Dec 26. They run a shuttle to the airport. I've stayed there many times pre international flights,
  14. Close enough. Panamax was the intended hint. We are approaching the canal (and in the queue) after overnight from Cartagena to Colon. The new canal was supposed to have been finished by the time we went through in 2015 but it wasn't. Your turn.
  15. Time for another hint. It is X Infinity. What class of vessel is it?
  16. Not Phu My and not Milly but it is X.
