  1. Next photo. Where was this school excursion?
  2. I have visited many countries - 50+ land sea and air. I only take with me PB pills and sometimes antibiotics or anti-inflamatories. I've never been asked to show anything. I do carry a print out from my GP of what I have been prescribed, that's it. At one time I also used to take glucosamine and krill oil (in ziplocks with my BPs) but don't anymore. Always had them in my carry on, again, never checked.
  3. Every cruise I've done north of Brisbane has December or January. It may be a little warm for some but I've never had to worry too much about cyclones.
  4. On my first cruise to Indonesia (10 years ago) with HAL, Indonesian immigration staff boarded at Darwin for onboard visa processing. I can't remember what the fee was. Last year I cruised there again with Hal. I organised my visa on line pre-departure. It was a tricky process. There was much confusion, particularly among US cruisers. I got useful information from an Aussie CC poster (forgotten name) on our Roll Call. The main point of confusion was that our first port of call was Komodo where there was no immigration check and it is not an Indonesian port with VOA but in the end it didn't matter. HAL did organise Visas on line for those who did not have them.
  5. My late wife would buy me tools I needed as Christmas and birthday presents. E.g 12 cfm compressor and dial guage are two I can remember. I've been working on home maintenance this last year and had the benefit of two hot air guns (paintstripping) and two orbital and belt sanders because she used to insist on helping.
  6. I left out the company name. Oops. Vidotour. https://www.vidotour.com/about-us
  7. If you happen to own a motorcycle and want to do your own servicing, I would not recommend reading this 1974 Best Seller. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. - Robert M Pirsig.
  8. I have used this local company for tours in Vietnam. Found them to be quite good. Check out any tours very carefully as many places are not suitable for people with mobility issues. This usually applies to temples up a river or in the bush. Getting in and out of those car-engine powered, oversized canoes is tricky at best or on/off Ha Long bay junks.
  9. Lyle. If you're stuck for a retirement hobby this may inspire - or not.😟 https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-01-21/sydney-harbour-bridge-cocktail-cabinet-40-years-braidwood-artist/103137356
  10. Here's some helpful information. https://tropicalnorthqueensland.org.au/plan-your-trip/wildlife-safety/jellyfish-safe/
  11. I've occasionally used the pools but avoid hot tubs like the plague they contain. These are cruising's real petri dishes, IMHO. I used my home pool, a couple of days ago, for the first time in years. The last two summers never seemed hot enough for me.
  12. On a Celebrity cruise we found small blankets were provided for those wanting to go outside on deck.
  13. Correct. No MRT in those days if we wanted to go into the city. It was usually by cab. A big surprise was all the cabs were Mercedes. This was an eye opener for us Aussies who were used to Holdens or Fords.
  14. Have been to Singapore many time and a great place for shopping it is, especially if you want to buy a cheap watch, especially "copy" watches but here's a warning, watch out for fake copy watches. A friend who was travelling with us bought a "copy" gold Gucci watch. She wore it for years (until the battery eventually died) but the "gold" wore off in a couple of months and the brand name on the watch face was "GUCI"😄 I don't mind the heat. I spent six weeks there in 1970 while doing my Nasho. That was after ten weeks living in tents in Indonesian Borneo - Kalimantan Barat - bang on the equator near a place called Pontianak. Here's a pic of my Singapore accomodation, occupied mostly by Poms and Kiwis. No aircon in those days.
  15. Train from Circular Quay to International terminal is less than 10 minute flat walk from the dock and is quicker and cheaper than a cab so long as you can manage your luggage. I've done that many times.
  16. I trusted what Twink Story said on the steam powered wireless
  17. Try this. https://www.twinkl.com.au/resource/au-t2-e-814-slip-slop-slap-seek-slide-display-posters
  18. As it's only two weeks away I'd reckon you could pack as if it were summer in Texas then throw in a sweater and rain jacket for NZ.
