  1. Not under the bar in the Yacht Club?😉
  2. BTW, pineapples are bromeliads but I can't imagine a pineapple tree.😟
  3. I have bromeliads that think they are triffids and they're trying to take over the garden. I'm not too worried as they seem to smother the weeds.
  4. That's the Pope's ship!😄 It's so holey.
  5. You did not mention whether you were talking about accident damage or personal injury. In the past I have found accident cover is usually provided by the rental company. It would normally have a high excess which can be removed by paying extra for full cover. Travel insurance IIRC covers personal injury.
  6. Yes, for example, at Airlie Beach Markets, stall holders are using a device called a "Square", at small electronic gadget (about 50mm square, 5mm thick) that can read DR/CR cards, phones and even watches. My sailing club treasurer uses one, which he can carry around in his pocket, for members to pay their dues or regatta entry fees - instant transfer between accounts.
  7. They will be checking for soil and seeds. As well as scrubbing off any dirt, check for seeds which may have stuck to, for example, laces (common) or eleswhere.
  8. OMG. I don't I could fill four bags with all the clothes I own (motorcycle gear excluded). Many times we've holidayed (4-6 weeks) or cruised with no more than one bag rarely exceeding 16kgs each.
  9. $hite happens. You should have seen the panic on board a Pricess cruise we were on some time ago. Last night at sea, a man went overboard. Docking was delayed by 24 hours. It was pandemonium at CS desk with people wanting to reorganise flights and connections. Unless they were booked through Princess there was nothing CS could do. I would suspect that many who had booked a night in Sydney would have been a little relieved - unless they had an early flight.
  10. Hmm. Would a group of happy geese be a giggle? Just a random thought.
  11. Who were you flying with? I've not come across what you describe with flat seat/beds and I am taller than the average bloke.
  12. I had a thought (usually painful when that happens😁). With the rounding up of prices, e.g. ending .99c, people paying in cash are paying extra whereas if using a card one pays the exact amount. Surely that would add up over the years.
  13. I can only name three NZ birds. The Kiwi, of course. Kea - an alpine parrot and very cute pest. And, my also cute favorite, the pukeko, which sadly seems to like throwing themselves under cars. Apart from the kiwi I can't remember if the other two are on notes.
  14. It seems I am lucky as I live in an almost bug free zone. My house has five access doors, four of which have screens (two are Crimsafe) and I often leave one or two propped open during the day so my cats can come and go without using the kitty door. The occasional fly may wander in and if it settles it gets sprayed. Mozzies? Almost zero, I can't even remember the last time I was bitten. Also get the occasional (big) sand fly which really give a bite but these are slower moving and easily swatted. I live in an area which is sandy, topped with ash (courtesy of BHP) and well drained so pooling of rainwater is not a problem. It's also a low lying coastal area with sea breezes, which probably helps. However there places within, say, a half hour drive which are really bad for mozzies e.g. Newcastle Uni. which is near Shortland wetlands. Oddly enough, there was a time when flys were a pest but not for the last 4-5 years - global warming? Hmm.
  15. I've done both a US cruise and an Aussie cruise this year and prepaid grats on both. My experience on both cruises was the same as described by @Blackduck59. The prepayment appears as a credit on your account on the first cruise day. @Tigerlily75 It does not breach Australian consumer laws. The Crew Appreciation is not a "hidden" cost and is only a "surprise" if you haven't read booking information.
