  1. On both legs of our b2b. Wow. That is not "a" week. Why not just charter one ship for one week?
  2. To compare military use of acronyms to cruising lol. DH is retired military and I worked for the Navy and an intel agency. That's where it's important to get them correct. On here, not so much as long as people know you're talking about Royal, then it's all good. And, none of this has anything to do with OP's question at all.
  3. I can't do rock climbing or flowrider as I injured my knee and broke my fibula 4 years ago but we still go on ships with these things, we just don't do them. No reason to change to smaller ships. We do smaller ships frequently due to the port (we live an hour from Baltimore) not because we can't do some things on the newer ships. I think OP is looking at this backwards. Enjoy what you can and don't do what you can't. All ships have crowds at certain points/places.
  4. Nope. This is what I was referring to. "The ship is way too big (long) for "guests" over 25 years old and obviously designed for playtime. "
  5. We love the Quantum class and we're over 60. I never lose weight on a cruise.
  6. Technically no, but we've seen others do it as recently as about a week ago in one of our Canada ports. Of course, the rule can be enforced at any time.
  7. Yes. Others have posted about it. Personally, I wouldn't do it, but it can be done.
  8. Getting home from Newark was fun. First off, my father passed away while we were in Canada. He'd been in hospice for months and my sister lives very close to them. We decided to stay on until NJ as it would have taken us a few days to get back from Canada. From getting off the ship (customs/immigration, etc) to actually getting to an airport and then home, it would have taken us almost as long to get back. So, we cancelled our two days in NYC and went straight to the NY Penn (Moynihan) train station. We had changed our tickets a few days before. We still got business class, but weren't seated together. When we got up that morning in Bayonne, we got an alert the train was running late. It ended up being about 3 hours late as were several other NE corridor trains. All due to an issue near Boston. We got in around 9, instead of 6 to Manassas on a packed train. So glad we had business class reserved seats. We got home Thurs night and flew to Dallas on Sunday. My dad's service is here (town near Dallas) tomorrow (Tuesday) and we return home to VA on Saturday. Talk about trains, planes and automobiles (and ships). Then, I'm hosting Thanksgiving for 8 or 9 people. @DragonOfTheSeas glad you guys got home okay, even if it was a long ride back. Rehab isn't fun, but at least he'll be home soon.
  9. Our asparagus on Jewel 20 Oct-9 Nov (b2b) was the skinniest little limp asparagus I've ever seen. Butter was plentiful at all meals. Breakfast pastries are obviously premade and frozen, but they still taste good. I will say we made several substitutions with no issue. I asked for and received a garden salad on several nights. Tomatoes were horrible for the most part though.
  10. We talked to the Ex chef on Jewel last week. He said first off that with some of the company/ies that supply cruise ships going out of business and others almost doing so, they are still getting back up to pre pandemic status. And, that when they restarted they had to buy what they could find and some companies misrepresented themselves. They would show really good items when bidding on the job and then actually supply with lesser quality. Food was a bit better on Jewel on our b2b (20 Oct-9 Nov) but still not what it was. Beef tends to suffer the most. They still have work to do.
  11. Snow on the ground in Charlottetown today. But it's 39 so not icy Yesterday we woke up to 3 or so inches on the ship. Crew cleared it and played in it.
  12. Nice today to be inside. We watched deck crew moving snow and playing in it a bit. Couple of small snowmen were made. Probably about 3 inches.
  13. Painful injury. Glad you were in the US. Cruise is going great and sorry you're missing it. We had some light snow in Saguenay today.
  14. A great advertisement for buying insurance. We always have. This year we bought an annual policy that covers a lot. Did he fall on the ship or ashore?
  15. Actually it's for transportation between two US ports which is not allowed. The foreign port has no impact on that. It's that you boarded in one US port and got off in another US port
  16. D are allowed in 430-5 for HH. Then 5-8 for D+ and pinns. We're staying onboard for the 10/30 return to Bayonne. Lots of the D+ and pinns are also. 270 b2bers
  17. Diamonds can use it anytime outside of happy hour. On Jewel that is currently 5-8 pm. They changed the sign onboard to Crown Lounge in the last day or two. I just noticed it.
  18. Heavy pinn and d+ onboard. 88 pinns and 270 or so d+ so they had to limit. We've been in both nights. We come around 6 so some have already left. We're with friends so we end up in Vortex section. Seems the entire VCL is the lounge. They check cards. Service is very good. Lounge is still labelled diamond. Sign hasn't changed. Top 20 pinns have SL/CL access with suite guests. We know someone who does. Also food is much improved over our cruises since restart
  19. That announcement was only for when we were taking on fuel (bunkering). Otherwise the outside smoking locations are available.
  20. At least the seas are calm. I overheard someone talking about how rocky it is lol. It's not. Maybe 4-5 ft seas and not rocking.
  21. Haven't seen any ducks but don't really look. As for internet, it varies. We're going so slow right now. I think the Captain is trying to stay behind the storm which is moving out plus Boston isn't that far from NJ
