  1. The lawyer we met knew the lawyers involved. So much info that was not reported on the "news". It really opened our eyes.
  2. Yep. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other. One is about "adult". The other is about liabilty/injury. and ability. Why do you think they have anything to do with each other? Weird comparison.
  3. That isn't what it seemed. We met a lawyer from NYC who explained that case to use years ago. It's not what people think it was. It was more than just "hot coffee". She really had a case. It involved severe injuries. It's not as cut and dried as some think.
  4. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. You will get a wide range of answers on here.
  5. It's actually very simple. Someone (cruise line or provider) is using an arbitrary age to limit participation when in reality it should be about ability. That's all.
  6. I've actually stopped a couple of boys who were running around corners and up and down stairs and told them to stop before they knocked someone over. Hot tubs when we first started cruising were for 16 and over. Kids treat them as swimming pools (and parents let them) which they are not.
  7. But, the point is, they do have a space.
  8. If you saw me when I was 18, you'd probably would have thought I was younger. Of course, there are 13 year olds that look 18 too.
  9. What is recommended is if you have a drink, that you pump and dump so the next feeding isn't impacted. I'm sure that's what her Dr. meant, not feeding while drinking, sigh.
  10. They are two separate cruises. Royal does not sell b2b's.
  11. Problem is, as I said before, there are people of all ages that would be unable to do these excursions due to physical limitations and there are older people who can easily do them, so it is discriminatory because it sets a random age not based on someone's ability. Due to my knee, there are things I can't do and I'm under 70. I get the whole liability thing except people need to have personal responsibility also.
  12. They do usually put a statement in the compass that children not be on the dance floor when dance music is being played in the evenings. There have been several instances of children getting underfoot and adults tripping over them. Children do not "dance" in their own space. They are all over the floor and usually running around particularly those under 6 or 7 yr olds. CD on EN last year told us it's a real problem and that's why he puts it in the compass. And, it's not about making it an adult only/oriented ship. It's about not every place onboard is appropriate for children. Do children really need to be in a bar? Or is it because mommy and daddy want to sit at the bar and drink? And, yes, I've seen somewhat drunk adults with their children with them acting like they've got no responsibilities. Obviously this isn't all, but there have been some on every cruise we've been on.
  13. It has improved. DH sent in for several cruises at one time and they were all posted very quickly. In the past, he's had to email because the form just didn't work properly.
  14. I do so enjoy these types of discussions, but at the end of the day, Royal has made a change to their rules. A welcome one to many of us. As for people who keep posting that Royal is targeting the demographic of families, while that is kind of true, they target everyone. Baby boomers have more disposable income and those of us barely born at the end of baby boom years are still very active and spending. As for kids sitting at bars, in a lot of places, the bars themselves restrict who can sit at one. Remember, every age group will be pushed aside at some point, so never think the current younger demographic is any different. But, those of us who are empty nesters or with no kids should have at least one spot we can be in without kids running around where we can actually relax.
  15. WJ or Park Cafe. Otherwise, you can usually prebook Chops and pay for boarding lunch which is what we do on ships that offer it.
  16. Yes they do and it's a duty that a lot of the waitstaff wants. But, we always give an extra $1/drink and then tip anyone who we feel gave great service more at the end of the cruise.
  17. I also go by my middle name and always have, but don't really care if they call me by my legal first name. All they have to do is say hello. Using my "preferred" name really doesn't change how I feel about being onboard. I'm not there to be "welcomed". I'm there for a vacation.
  18. You don't have to change it now. You can just bring it to the port and they will adjust it there. And, no, making changes on your boarding pass will not change your check in time.
  19. Not all ships have interactive tv. None of the Vision class do and if I remember correctly, Radiance class doesn't either. We used to get the paper copy under our door, now we get an email, usually within a few hours of leaving.
  20. Agreed. We live in a 55+ community and the number of people in their 70's that hike, bike, play tennis, pickleball, run and are in the gym is very high. I'm only limited due to a knee injury from a few years ago that means I have to stick to walking, swimming and the gym. I'm 63 and know I can't do some things but it's not due to my age. My 66 yr old DH walks 5 or 6 miles several days a week. There are people in their 30's who can't do some of these things either due to sedentary lifestyle, size or disability but to discriminate solely on age is unfair to those that can actually do more.
  21. Symphony is about 160 feet longer than Mariner so it depends on whether it could fit due to T5 being right there. Jewel has been at T6 because we were on her last Nov and I know I've seen a couple of others making port calls at T6 such as Vision class, but not Oasis class.
  22. Where had they cruised from? It doesn't take a lot of thinking to know where Aus is and how long it would take to get there from the east coast. Any TA who doesn't know geography shouldn't be one.
  23. He would have to have gone through a bunch of itineraries to find out that Symphony was there. He is correct though about the docks that can handle that size of a ship.
