  1. I was thinking the same thing earlier. It's very eye opening for the parents who thought their kids knew better. Kids are kids. Maturity comes with age. Are some more irresponsible and less mature for their age? Yes. But more mature than most of their peers, not really.
  2. I remember before our first cruise on RCI, reading all the people raving about Honey Stung Chicken. Boarded our first Royal ship-Grandeur, went to the WJ and grabbed some. I found it anything but Honey Stung lol. It was breaded chicken with a little flavor. Nothing special at all. We now eat in whatever Specialty restaurant is serving lunch, although Jewel in Oct doesn't have one open on embarkation day. I guess it's back to the WJ for prob salad and whatever looks okay.
  3. I know you're attempting to defend your stance, but what about my statement is an issue for you? Kids are not adults.
  4. Huh? What exactly did you think you read in my post? Please, show me where I said people don't need to have their guard up?
  5. We have left a few hangars as I know they save them to use for people who request more. We've also left water bottles a few times after telling them we were leaving them for them. Also, doesn't matter that this is a 4 month old thread as it's always relevant.
  6. And, that is the issue in a nutshell. As I said earlier in this thread, people treat a cruise like Disneyworld and assume (incorrectly) that nothing bad can happen either place. But, it does.
  7. I raised two completely independent, happily married successful sons that we see every couple of weeks. They were gradually given freedom and responsibility for their age. As for what I posted, did you READ where I said "child development"? Kids do not think and reason the same way as adults do. It's a fact.
  8. Remember "Save the Waves"? Apparently some have completely forgotten.
  9. Just because there is no law doesn't make it right or smart. I remember reading about child development when I was in college. The statement that stood out to me most was that children under age 10 have zero idea of what can happen and can't make the same judgment calls as older children. They do not think like adults no matter how "mature" you think they are. The other thing that was pointed out was that for example, when a younger child rides their bike they have no clue what can happen to them in the street. Their concepts are based in mostly a fantasy type life. As in, you get hit by a car, you pop right back up and are fine, like in a lot of cartoons.
  10. A lot of JR's on land have closed. All the VA locations have. In the DC metro, the ones left are at FedEx field where the "Commanders'" play. There are several there. Otherwise, SIx Flags and a couple of outlet malls are other locations. It's not a place that most people go to regularly. They tend to be in touristy places or sports complexes.
  11. I have actually met a couple of people and read posts of others on different sites who believe "finders keepers". It sucks that people are that selfish, but not surprising.
  12. This is totally different than the people who take it home on purpose thinking they know better than the cruise line as to how to reunite it with the owner. What I never get is how someone forgets a piece of jewelry, especially something that looks real. I carry a zippered jewelry holder with individual zipper pockets inside. I wear certain pieces daily and then switch out as needed. Anyway, all op can do at this point. is contact Royal and report it
  13. Have you heard of crimes of opportunity? My point was not just poor people are capable of it. It was not very good wording by the poster.
  14. LOL. I have never once announced "I'm leaving" but I have seen a few . As I've seen a lot online, this is not an airport, no need to announce your departure.
  15. Babysitting at 9? That wasn't even legal when I was 9 and I'm 63. 12-13 is appropriate (and legal in most places) age for babysitting. We had a lot of freedom as kids, but no way would my parents (or us or anyone I know) ever let a 4 year old go anywhere by themselves.
  16. Most parents I know, myself included didn't overprotect them until one day we just released them on the world. Mine were gradually given more responsibility as they got older. But, the reality is, this is about the letting a kid wander around on their own on a ship full of strangers. The ship is not their hometown. You need to look at it from that perspective. I, myself have stopped several children (usually around 10-11 yrs old) running up and down hallways and stairs and around corners. It's all fun and games until they run into and knock someone over, especially an older person.
  17. To me, it's like Disney where people make the assumption because it's Disney it's safe. The ship is a small city and believe it or not, bad people take cruises too. There have been incidents over the years. I just think it's more than easy to walk your child somewhere.
  18. It includes soda (from the gun) in a glass at bars, in restaurants, etc. You don't need the cup as your seapass will indicate if you have the package.
  19. I'm guessing they realized people invited were sharing the link. I wonder who got invited and why. We're D+ with 567 points so you think they'd want input from experienced cruisers.
  20. This is what it says: This survey can only be taken by invitation.
  21. Princess pizza is actually good. That said Sorrento's for us has always been an occasional snack in the middle of the afternoon since we do late dining. It's not a meal for us.
