  1. Impossibly, it's better than it used to be when we first cruised on Royal in 2009.
  2. I'm 63 and DH is 65. DH is retiring in Dec. I retired 3 years ago. We have three pensions plus several other sources of income. We have no mortgage and no debt. We can do anything we want. Just met with our CFP today and discussed how much we want to supplement our pensions and SS when DH retires from our other investments. I'm not sure what exactly your point is. 28 years ago, we didn't have a lot. We do now. That was all my point was. I'm not going to say exactly how much we have in our investments but it is more than 2.
  3. I'm actually visiting them right now in Newport News. My inlaws lived about 10 min from us when they went through it and passed, but here at my parents I'm almost 3 hours away in No VA. Anyway, travel insurance is always a good idea, as is reviewing the invoice so you know what you bought.
  4. Agreed. My father is currently in hospice and we went through it with my In-laws over the last 6 years. We, fortunately never had to cancel a cruise or beach trip because timing worked out well but we were covered if needed. Up until this year, we bought Royal's insurance for each cruise. Cost wise, even upgrading our Allianz policy, it's cheaper to buy annual for the 4+ cruises we now take each year. Also, Allianz covers any vacation DH or I take. A policy is not per person, it's per household while Royal's insurance is per person.
  5. They've accepted a photo since restart. As for Travel Insurance having a cap, it's unlikely someone would have to cancel very often. We buy it more for medical and evacuation. We wouldn't cruise if we couldn't afford to lose the fare. In 18 years of cruising, we have had to cancel ONE b2b cruise and that was due to my injury and surgery and rehab four years ago.
  6. And, naturalized citizens know how to prove it. Every single naturalized citizen I know has a passport. Mainly because they return to their birth country to visit family. A lot still also have citizenship with their birth country so they actually hold two passports.
  7. Well, since naturalized citizens have paperwork stating so, you are really reaching. You don't get how it works. Anyone who is a naturalized citizen would use their official US paperwork.
  8. One should choose the policy that has what they want/need, like we did. But, in the OP's case they had NO insurance and didn't check it on the invoice. Allianz has great coverage and yes, you pay for it, but since we cruise 4-5 times per year it's cheaper (with better coverage) than what Royal offers. We used Royal's for my broken ankle 4 years ago and got every penny back. We also would have with Allianz.
  9. A US citizen is a US citizen. Doesn't matter if by birth or naturalization for immigration/passport.
  10. They don't want people with the flu, norovirus or other illnesses either. People board everyday that either don't care that they're sick or don't know. It's just like everyday life. Sick people are out and about.
  11. Annual insurance. That way you don't have to worry about adding it. BTW, excursions, drink packages (all extras) are refunded even if the cruise isn't.
  12. $1,000 in 1995 wasn't something we just had laying around. We had just bought our first single family home (third home purchase overall) and stocks weren't on our radar. We were busy funding our 401K's. But, that's okay, overall we have more than that in our retirement funds.
  13. So, why exactly do rules exist? Asking for a friend.
  14. Folks, for whatever reason, she started a new thread "followup to let's play what if". I don't get why it needed an entirely new thread. BTW, he tested positive so now the discussion is can he board at a later port. And, by later she says another US port, which we all know is a no no due to PVSA.
  15. Why did you start a new thread rather than returning to your original one?
  16. @sadiwest it's not a game if you say "let's play" and never return to answer.
  17. Children get very, very mild cases if they have any symptoms at all.
  18. Spring 2022 on our b2b on EN I caught a wicked sinus infection on the second leg that I had for two weeks. I still had a fever when we got home and went to Urgent Care where I was tested for Flu and Covid. Both negative. I didn't take anything and let my immune system handle it which actually was what the Dr wanted me to do. I was sicker than any of my family members who had Covid(siblings, sons, dil's). They were more exhausted but I had a higher temp and was sick longer.
  19. Crickets for that question so far.
  20. It already is more like a mild flu or cold.
  21. Points? Just wondering why OP said points.
  22. I meant your original post as in #1 on this thread. You posted the first sentence like everyone should know. So, did he test or didn't he?
  23. I know a lot of people who never caught it when others in their household had it. DH and I never had it, at least nothing to test for. We don't even have any tests anymore. We see no reason to.
  24. So, you were assuming everyone remembered that? That's why I asked as it didn't make any sense to me.
