Mariner Passenger Overboard Rescued
BND replied to OCSC Mike's topic in Royal Caribbean International
There's no surprise there. I do wonder if cruise lines share info about incidents like with each other, as in names, etc. in order to prevent cruising by this individual again. She's very, very lucky she survived after that fall. -

My point is she has said that for every, single, cruise. You'd think she'd stop saying it after I told her multiple times (and showed her) how high the railings are. -

I just saw a report that it was deck 10. How the heck did she survive a 100 ft drop? She must have hit feet first because from that height she could have broken her neck and at the very least knocked unconcious. -

What deck did she "fall" from? I don't remember seeing that. That makes all the difference. -

We've cruised 35 times and before every single trip my 85 year old mother tells us to "not fall overboard". I laugh and have explained to her multiple times that you can't just be walking along, trip and go over the side. I also show her how high the railings are, but she listens to the "news". -
We've cruised out of Baltimore at least a dozen times. Parking has never been an issue.

Probably not. Unless the person is charged with a crime. Of course, I'm curious as to whether this earned a lifetime ban. -
People have eyes. You can see (and usually hear) a storm coming. Why stay out? We go inside as soon as we see one approaching. You will always have those that wait until the last second or it's actually raining to move and then they will blame others.

I actually posted that they were looking to hire someone after a CD posted it right after James left and I was told on this site that I was completely wrong.

And, it gives a certain ambulance chaser fodder for his website. -
Symphony of the Seas, masks required on board?
BND replied to Roger11's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It does look funny and makes no sense. I still see people driving completely alone wearing one so who knows how those minds work. -

True, but I was referring to the "accidentally falling overboard" group which we know is a bit of a misnomer. Homicide is rare. Suicide happens and as my DH says as a retired USN Captain, that is one of the worst ways to go. If you're not knocked unconscious or break your neck, then you're left to float, fully aware of what you did. Anyway, these falling stories irk me. It's like saying a train "hit" someone or something. While, technically true, trains don't leave the tracks and chase someone down.- 62 replies

Well, as most of us know "falling overboard" usually involves alcohol, stupidity or both. -
chair flies to upper deck on independence

No, but anyone paying attention would be able to see it coming. We always go in when we see a storm coming. I've seen many people absolutely drenched and completely surprised because they pay no attention to the skies. -
Anxiety over Traveling with kids Birth Certificates
BND replied to Eddie Wilson's topic in Royal Caribbean International
As an American, pretty much everyone I know has a passport. The only people I know that don't are my 85 year old parents who can't travel anymore so they let theirs expire. Ours entire close and extended family have one. They are worth the cost. I think the people hesitant to pay for them are those that won't use them often and don't live where people travel a lot. Here in the DC area, it's very common to travel internationally, both for work and pleasure. I'm 63 and have had a passport since I was 23. In fact, I just sent in my renewal about 6 weeks ago. I just wish they'd go ahead and require them for all cruising so we could end this constant debate. And before people start saying the cost is too much or whatever, people will get them if they need them. -
We've also seen a pullman in JS or some ships above the sofa. We've only done GS on EX several times and that was 10 years ago. Sofa bed is for one person.

St Croix & Tortola walk from pier
BND replied to brenderlou62's topic in Royal Caribbean International
There's a fort and a small museum. First time there we ate lunch upstairs at a bar/restaurant and I can't remember what it was called. We just walked around and went into the fort and museum as well as checked out the few vendors. Second time we did a tour to Christiansted. Small narrow roads, a little shopping and a fort. There really isn't a lot to see. There were quite a few chickens and roosters wandering around. -
St Croix & Tortola walk from pier

I've walked it a couple of times in St. Croix and I have a knee issue. The town area itself is very compact and starts just at the end of the pier. It's still much shorter than other ports such as Costa Maya. We've never been to Tortola. -

GO TO GS and complain. Ask to speak to Housekeeping supervisor and then take it up the chain to the Hotel Director if you need to. You should be doing that rather than posting on here. Save that for after the fact and explain the whole process then. -
Depends on how much of their commission they're willing to give up and whether they book blocks of cabins. We use our friends who are TA's because they are our friends. We get no perks, except occasional gifts in our cabin. They currently only book for family and friends so it's not a big business for them anymore (they used to do corporate travel for a co.) No, TA's see the same rooms as everyone else. Some cabin categories book quickly.
