  1. You know, this thread isn't even about a caregiver, right? This poster decided to make it about that.
  2. At the end of the day, the cabin belongs to the cruise line not the cruiser. When allowing a ship to dock in a country, they are agreeing to their laws. This applies to gambling and alcohol also. People choose to take banned items on board and they take on the risk, not the cruise line.
  3. I think the OP took on the detour on this thread. Reality is, the answer to her question is simple. It's officially no. We've traveled with non D/D+ friends and none have ever had an issue with the fact they can't go in the lounge and we would never put the concierge in that position as we know the rules.
  4. The issue has been getting parts as like many things they are sometimes backordered. I don't get the draw but then I don't like cappuccinos or lattes. Give me a mocha or good black coffee anytime.
  5. Suite pool seating is always in the sun, so it's been a no go for us. We used to book GS all the time-largest ship in a GS was EX. I don't see the seating as a real benefit.
  6. What exactly were the circumstances? A random invite? LOL. Or what? Every letter we have ever received onboard was done on a computer and printed on "letterhead". What you posted looks like it was done on an old typewriter. I have never once heard or seen anything like this happening on any ship.
  7. A lot of people have reported never seeing anything except "in process" on the website. I've seen a lot of reports where people have received theirs and it still states that so just be aware that the status doesn't really mean anything. I also requested e-mail updates so we'll see if that happens. Last time I renewed in 2014, it took two weeks from mailing to receipt and I'm pretty sure my status never changed.
  8. State Dept website states 10-13 weeks. I sent mine in about 3 weeks ago and expect it to take a couple more months. BTW, I started a thread the day I mailed it in and the thread got moved. I'll go find and post the link so you can see other's experiences. I expect this thread will also get moved as it's not RCI specific. Here it is.
  9. Our Oct/Nov b2b Jewel cruise to NE/Canada is currently $62.99 northbound and $66.99 southbound. You are not going to see prices like what you posted on cruises out of the US or even Europe.
  10. Actually, it's not right. App is only correct once you board and connect to ships wifi with it.
  11. Everyone gets water now. The higher the status, the more bottles. As D+, DH and I each get 3 bottles.
  12. Anytime a cabin is directly under the pool deck, there will be noise. Pool loungers being rearranged, carts being pushed around are the two main ones. We have stayed under pool decks multiple times. Some areas are noisier than others depending on what is directly above them.
  13. That's where I look. I don't use the app except for onboard.
  14. We've done b2b lunches from Chops but it's never meant closing Chops.
  15. Anyone run into this lately? We normally pre book a SR for lunch on boarding day to avoid the WJ. We just did this on EN in April and have done it on every first day since before shutdown and restart. We're on Jewel in Oct/Nov for a b2b 10 night each way NE/Canada cruise and neither leg has Chops available on boarding day. We did it on Jewel this past Nov also so I know they usually do it. We will see if it's even open when we board as we know we can do a walkup if it is (or if this is something new). Just wondering if anyone else has seen this.
  16. They used to put effort into putting similar people together. When we first started cruising we were always seated with people about our age, empty nesters usually so no kids, similar C&A status most of the time. Now, it's completely random. One cruise, we were seated with 4 other people. Two were a Vietnamese woman and her 18 yr old son. English wasn't her first language, but we managed to talk we just didn't have much in common but her son was very polite and easy to converse with. At the same table were two guys (couple) who sat as far away as possible from the 4 of us, talked only to each other and never once acknowledged they were seated at a table with other people. We even said hello and they just ignored all of us. Truly weird.
  17. It also gets asked a lot on other social media sites.
  18. There are cookies everyday in the WJ, but usually only one or two varieties. Also, Park Cafe/Promenade Cafe have cookies (same ones WJ has each day). It's why my DH grabs several when he finds Ranger ones.
  19. Honestly I'm surprised they even still take requests. So many people seem to "have" to sit in a certain location such as next to a window, they have to be overwhelmed with requests. They have to plan out seating for every cruise at the end of the prior cruise. Thousands of people per ship. We have never requested a particular table or section. The most our TA does is link us if we request it because we have others we want to dine with and ask for an 8 top.
  20. We love them. I've made them from recipe online and they are not the same, but they are good. DH always grabs 6-8 whenever he finds them and brings them back to our room. They are by far the most favorite cookies onboard.
  21. Part of the problem with the chips in Park Cafe is people hoarded them. I used to see people with 5 or 6 bags at a time. I'd go to get ONE bag with my lunch and they'd be out of potato chips because those were the ones people tended to hoard. It was nothing but greed as there were reports of people taking multiple bags home. It had gotten way out of hand. This is why we can't have nice things.
