  1. It's really for those on their first handful of cruises.
  2. American figured out that by taking one olive off their in-flight salads, they saved tens of thousands of dollars a year. So pennies add up.
  3. I have never been a napper - I have to be absolutely exhausted to take a nap. I wish I could.
  4. Looking at the interactive deck plan on Carnival.com, the deck plan just shows two regular sit-up chairs and a small table. No lounger. Probably have to get one of the big corner suites to get a lounger.
  5. And how many restaurants said they were saving the sea creatures when they took away straws...etc etc..."greenwashing" is not unique to Carnival or the cruise industry by any stretch...
  6. Yes embarkation night for sure and the time is 9:30. They make it late enough so that no matter when you eat supper you can make it. Of course, if you're like me it's just late enough you'll be in bed because of the early drive/flight that morning to get to the ship!
  7. Why would you wait? If the price goes down, you just cancel and rebook or get price protection. Waiting will only give you less cabin selection and likely cause you to pay more.
  8. If they can serve a bowl of chowder in a regular bowl vs. a bread bowl, it costs them less yet they presumably charge the same price.
  9. If the ship can dock in Baltimore, it'll be out of Baltimore. If not, it will be out of Norfolk.
  10. Definitely check the Carnival Adventures desk onboard. They usually don't sell all the tickets they have for the excursions before the cruise because they know a lot of people will wait until they get onboard to decide.
  11. Right, it's important to realize that the stewards are not the ones actually doing the laundry. Your laundry is put in a mesh bag and several mesh bags are washed and dried at once in large washers below deck by crew who do laundry all contract long and probably are not even allowed on guest decks.
  12. So if the food is disgusting (or even worse) on the other major lines, then that really is a bad portent for the industry.
  13. I remember on one of my cruises post-restart, they had a slide on the jumbotron at the main pool telling folks not to waste so much food. It specifically called out bread as the most-wasted food onboard. As far as the bread bowls I am sure waste was the reason. Same reason why the taco shell bowls are gone from blue iguana 😞
  14. Did that Magic cruise to a tee last year out of Norfolk. Same ship and ports of call, only difference was home port. (eastern I mean, to San Juan). I would do it again (and have actually sailed that itinerary a few other times before) but on a different ship. I love San Juan but I'd probably do the Vista itinerary. Gets you a newer ship and a visit to Half Moon Cay, although it is a day shorter. But good point from @Mike45LC - since this is your first cruise in such a long time why not ease your way into it and cruise out of Long Beach.
  15. I feel like we would have more examples of this if there was someone internal stealing the checks (they wouldn't steal just one) so this sort of makes sense.
  16. The good news is now that FTTF is super expensive and doesn't do as much as it used to, it doesn't tend to sell out so you shouldn't have any issues buying it once it becomes available.

  18. It was so much better a few years ago, just before COVID and during the initial restart. After that things went south very quickly.
  19. Wife says the meatball sandwiches aren't as good. All I know is the last time I ordered a sandwich from the deli it was still frozen in the middle and the meat was an unnatural shade of gray. And the fries tasted like they were cooked in dirty oil.
  20. They might as well get rid of the Deli on Carnival, it's positively disgusting now.
  21. Great suggestion but must hurry, the cruise industry in Charleston ends at the end of the year. Or at least Charleston home porting a ship ends. They'll still have day visits from time to time from smaller ships like Regent. Even still when the cruise industry leaves Charleston is still a beautiful city that is worthy of a visit. But that's probably for another website to discuss! 🙂
  22. You sure it doesn't have anything to do with all the food that many of us choose to eat on cruises?
  23. It really depends on the port. I know in Miami they do facial recognition for passport passengers and you just walk through often not stopping.
  24. Yeah I would expect a Cheers price hike before the end of the month, to be honest.
