  1. chefs table is about 14 to 16 maxed with 5 courses that include wine paring. Food is great, but wine is average, nothing expensive. So it normally costs say 89-99 bucks, thats why the extra $50 is added on. It does fill fast, so book that if you are interested. Some folks ordered other drinks, the wait staff received from a close bar, but they waited a touch.
  2. Some debatable issues that have been tossed around here are decreased room attention, perhaps only one service per day and a different dinning room menu. Coco Cay is amazing, there is even a pool area and cabana's if you spend $$$$, a water park that costs extra and so many new areas to lounge for free at. check it out on YouTube. For an adult beach day at St. Thomas look on the boards for Coki, Sapphire beach and Secret Harbor. In St. Kitts, we just did a day excursion tour, chosen at the port as it's cheaper and had a lovely day. Welcome Back!
  3. i am looking for the port rules, but mine is 3.5 inches and gets through checked.
  4. in checked luggage, not on your person through security.
  5. yeah, so many folks wiping out and getting floated to the back wall, it has changed. one or two tries after they release their hand to you and you face plant, you are left with your allotted time on the boogie board. Wiping out hurts. I thought because I catch the waves at cocoa beach atlantic ocean that I would be good, this is a different ride, with a continuous flow that doesn't ebb and flow to get a feel for the waves. So even folks with experience have challenges to this.
  6. With so many ships in the fleet, I am sure this varries. On the allure two months ago, no self serve
  7. I always choose a longer cruise, both ships are great.
  8. Sometimes there are sales online ahead of time. We book it online to ensure we have a spot and I may weekly check in to see price fluctuations. If you see a drop, you definitely CAN cancel and rebook, do so immediately to keep your spot. We only do this on sea days. The reason that is on the port days we will have a drink or several, lol. There are wine pairings with each course, so I don't want to be tired from an excursion or a few drinks to enjoy dinner. That's our only reason for sea days. I haven't seen more than 14 folks at a chef table, so it fills up fast. Others on the WOS and others have reported a total of 16 guests. Once on board, if there is space, the price is the full price you see online.

  10. I have T mobile and called them, they cannot promise coverage, roving and extra costs will apply if you get connections. I suggest using the ship wifi, as these costs when you turn your phone on can start. Whenever you take your phone off airplane mode, you can encur charges. It's quite a gamble and they would not be specific as to the charges per minute as the ship triangulates coverage from various spots on a trans-atlantic.
  11. So we are going with the grandkids.. now that this is all on line, do we have to play the muster drill for each kid on the app when it appears? How is this tracked? Thanks in advance, it may seem simple, but it's new to us.
  12. As the title says, out of our group of 8, 1 really must have shade, especially my grandson. He is two and is in chemotherapy and the sun will fry him without shade breaks. There seem to be many umbrella spots, and we don't need to be altogether just a solid spot with an umbrella for him. If we leave as early as we can and go to the calm side, is this the best move? Or are there better locations with ample umbrellas? I haven't been in several years and don't want to have the group walking aimlessly around. I have the map of the island, but anyone's experience would really help. I appreciate your input!
  13. merrion, not trying to hijack, but since you were just there, are there enough places in the shade, not purchasing a cabana? My grandson is on chemo and needs a shady spot, but the cabanas are pricey as I am funding the entire vacay for 8. Thanks.
  14. when you finish your lovely sail, please get back and give a full review. If you get a second to take a picture of the kiddo splash pad, would be appreciated. Thank you!
  15. we did this, but years ago. There was a shuttle, it circled about every 30 minutes, so it takes time. WHen you ask at guest services see if they can describe the shuttle as there are many circling around, we just kept asking when they arrived and opened their doors. Walking depends on your health and how much luggage you have. To me it's too random and could be quite a way of a walk.
  16. wish we had an update. Going to hope all was fixed and OP is too busy enjoying himself.
  17. I agree with you. Remember though, many folks book and forget. Others are too tired and are no-shows or what ever reason they don't show. We got into many shows by doing the standby wait line. Good seats? Heck no!
  18. Funny thing is, the cruise that had everything bad happen to us was my favorite! It became such a running joke with all the people we met... "what will happen, next", and sure enough stuff did! Our positive attitude really made the difference. We had a medical emergency with an emergency landing, missed our connection and all 12 of us had to buy tickets to get to port of NO. Daughter 12, left her purse on the cab with her passport as the taxi pulled away and we ran to the pier check in.. (there were 20 of us total on that first plane) so the ship waited a few minutes. Daughter allowed on board (found her birth cert in a stack of purse papers). Three days no luggage, missed formal night, they wouldn't let us in with our free ship shape Tshirts. Went to Windjammer and I had an allergic seafood reaction, had to get epi and benadryl in the medical center. Got seasick and threw up on my only shirt and shorts and sneakers. Aruba our rented minivan got a flat tire.. the spare was FLAT too, took 4 hours for them to bring us a new tire. Meanwhile, under the shade of a tree, three of the kids were attacked by bees. One swells up, and I overdosed him with the Benadryl I had. So we missed Aruba. On sea day, no one is allowed in the pools with their shorts and T shirts on- random good folks went everywhere looking for bathing suits for us to borrow and we got them! I never knew who to return them to. Later that night the 14-year-old got lost for hours and was too embarrassed to ask for help, We had to report her as missing to security, and our evening was cut short. Cozumel, We see our luggage sitting out on the port with the other 8 peoples' and cheer! We sent everyone to the excursion but husband and myself to gather luggage.. hours later nothing.. we get a call to go to the naughty room, my luggage with snuck on alcohol on board was found. They said we could keep it! Noticed a bag dripping back to the cabin.. three bottles of carefully packed wine broke and ruined my clothes, lol. We missed cozumel, everyone else had fun. yet one person's bags never made it. by now hundreds of people on the ship knew us, would buy us drinks and listen to our tales, offer clothes to me and the teen and we even had borrowed formal wear for the second night. Young adult friend of my daughter was pregnant and started spotting in San Juan, we were on a dang walking tour and had to get her to the hospital, she ended up ok, just needed hydration. So not to hijack the thread, but even just typing this I am still smiling. What an adventure into making lemonade with the lemons.

  21. Definitely tell the staff you need to make the show and be OK with skipping dessert.
  22. the main dinning room is great for breakfast. you are seated as you come in and service is prompt. nice not to fight the buffet crowds and sit drink coffee while you wake up.
  23. you CAN book ahead of time, our group just booked for a May Wonder of the Seas cruise. We enjoy it and have been lucky to not have horrible table mates, which is a crap shoot anywhere. The wines are standard, and not "must tries" anyway. Since chefs table is not on cruise day 1, go see the Maitr de, and let them know your preference of mocktails so they can anticipate it. Staffing seems tight these cruising days and I want you to have the best experience.
