  1. there is an Aurora Alerts app you can download with your GPS location to alert you.
  2. that is frustrating. Normally you are just simply blocked from booking the excursion. I would have him bring his cert. Who the heck knows, it seems VERY unlikely they would even ask his age, since he is booked.
  3. thanks for the review! She is my favorite ship. I need more than a week on her to do/see everything.
  4. look at some you tube videos of the ship. I love boleros and the schooner bar. We don't book the key, It doesn't have value to me, I don't mind waiting a touch.
  5. thank you for the follow up. Customer service is lacking in so many areas these days. It's great to hear that loyalty has it's rewards!
  6. As folks have said, this comes with an upcharge. These rooms for four do fill fast.
  7. congratulations! You all can stay in the suite, just tip the steward when you board. What a great deal!
  8. Ugh, I just went to share the link with you and Lance sold it. Dang pandemic!
  9. look at Jacqui O's on love beach, you book in advance and catch a taxi. I almost hate to share this gem!
  10. I noticed more issues with staffing, whether its by choice or not. The room steward and wait staff seemed frazzled, always kind and smiling, just frazzled. Fewer folks walking around delivering drinks as well. Fewer bartenders, longer lines to get a drink at the bar.
  11. We have booked dinning while waiting for our turn to board, while in the cruise terminal. The security area has a no phone rule, after that, we start the search in the app.
  12. FYI, if you remember guest services is VERY busy day one of the cruise. We go down to them after dinner, before bed and the line is much shorter.
  13. calling crown and anchor is like beating my head against the wall. I have called several times, "wait for the site to update", "any day now", "just give it time".
  14. I am fighting with this now, it shows my past cruises, some with the points and others without.
  15. nylons are just fine for inside the ships! I read that your exterior packing is done. Check for rain gear, as without a waterproof jacket you may get soaked through.
  16. we don't sail her until May, if you don't find one by then, shoot me a private message and remind me
  17. I love the crown plaza hotels! As mentioned earlier, just call them. I haven't sailed from Ft. Laud. in almost 4 years, back then there was a shuttle. It picked up passengers from another sister hotel too, but it didn't really delay us.
  18. It really will depend on if there are two ships at Cocoa Cay and if your ship departs passengers first. We didn't do chill island, but watched many youtube videos of folks who were departed early and there were ample umbrellas at the pool. We must have an umbrella, and this seems the best advice based upon experience and research.
  19. back to back on the allure, purchased week one, delivered the last night of the first leg.
  20. my excursions started showing up on the site about 90 days out. Some were sold out quickly. About a month later there were one or two new ones for each port. Cocoa Cay seemed to stay the same. Watch for entertainment, it's 30 days before and books up fast. The chef table and ship lunch/tour books up as well, if those are of interest to you.
  21. we generally get a drink to "go", back to the room. There is a new rule, about giving opened packages (bottles, what have you), that they are not allowed to accept. Now, will a steward be willing to sneak a half finished bottle back? Maybe, and of course, it's up to them and their tolerance for the rules. I know you mean well, but once you leave the bottle, it's not your decision anyway as to what happens with it. So you can discuss this with the steward, or just leave it
  22. In almost 20 cruises, I have seen many a folk make a mad dash to the port, only to miss the ship sail off. It's almost funny, but not really. Medical emergencies are handled differently, They know WHO isn't onboard and will leave you in a heartbeat. The ship pays port fees and there are fines for delays. There is an obvious algorithm as to what the ship's captain will allow per circumstance. For example, my mom fell on port and broke her hip in New Brunswick, her travel companion, needed to get back to the ship to get their passports, they gave him a 15 minute leeway for the ship departure. Luckily he made it. Too many variables to say, but the staff told the companion, that there are plans in place for various scenarios, running to the ship without calling them, isn't one of them. Port security number is helpful to have on your phone, should you have concerns with this. They have a direct line to the ships captain.
  23. If you read the fine print in any excursion, if there is a delay, Carnival will promise to get you back to your ship asap, that doesn't mean wait for you at the port. There are several options: 1. a large ship sponsored tour was delayed 2. ship issues (documentation, papers or propulsion) 3. Not cleared for departure due to delays of other ships 4. The pilot was delayed 5. who the heck knows?
  24. I am finding this a pain in the butt. Just sayin.
