  1. All depends on how long you like to sit or walk with your hand holding onto your hat before it blows away.
  2. I use trip advisor and viator as options as well for excursions if this is comfortable for you. Just read the recent reviews, In almost 20 cruises I only had one issue with a bad guide, and I didn't read the reviews, my bad.
  3. Wanted to add as an FYI, if you and mom are touring the streets of San Juan, it's all cobblestone and very bumpy. So if you can rent a padded cushion it will help with her comfort.
  4. https://www.cloudofgoods.com/cruise-rentals/port-of-san-juan_5_131 The gangway works fine for wheelchairs and scooters. Because of the decline angle, you may want to push her down backwards, so she doesn't feel like she is falling out. There should be a lap strap as well, but not for sure. At 30 dollars a day, it's almost the same as buying one, it's called a transfer wheelchair, just make note of the seat size as they can be too narrow for comfort. Any medical device store near you sells them, so does Amazon all about 200 bucks. They are easy to collapse and fit in a trunk of a taxi or on a van, not too heavy.
  5. Is it me, or do all these clothing threads end up being the same?
  6. Our tablemates on the Allure had cut-off T-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops on "formal" night. While it was weird for a moment as we were all decked out, they were a fun group, just a different lifestyle. So they indeed were allowed in, and it didn't affect our dining experience. I guess you could ask to switch tables if this disturbs your experience. To each their own.
  7. I think this will be situationally specific. Parents just got off the Allure and rice was provided every night with their request. Yes, they asked on the first night and it could be anticipated (retrieved from another venue or kitchen) but they were not told no and this was not allergy related. Will be interesting to see how this plays out for folks.
  8. I can cruise on any date, so there are more options for me to get better pricing. However, I am always price comparing between any cruise line. We have two NCL booked in 2024 and 2025 that are for the itinerary (repo cruises) and the Wonder of the Seas this May, because of the ship and bringing the grandkids. We choose the Wonder, despite the price for the ship (about 10k for the 6 of us, not counting my airfare). So there are folks like me who are willing to pay the higher prices still. Husband I and I just did a land vacay and it was quite more expensive than cruising so that figures into our choices as well. Not loyal to only Royal, but I can't complain about their product yet.
  9. We stayed there for a week, but it was 10 years ago. Thanks so much for the reminder. Its a beautiful small cove, perfect for the little ones.
  10. try this link too for restaurants https://wanderlog.com/list/geoCategory/30777/the-34-best-restaurants-to-have-dinner-in-orient-bay
  11. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1YSr8ohraD9V61ycCpT9k63tUyC8&hl=en_US&ll=18.084794162204375%2C-63.01735753197923&z=18 view this, look to your right to the club orient. That section of the beach gets more nude bathing.
  12. As the title questions.. I have not been back for several years and this was my favorite spot. Before, I believe I booked this in advance and there was a guard that reviewed my booking prior to entry to the resort. Is this still accurate? Thanks in advance .
  13. ok, it's been a bit since I have been there. but if you are semi active, you can walk along the beach and view the menus and prices at orient, multiple places that serve food and have loungers there. To get to jet skis, it was a walk and I am unsure if they are even offered anymore. Great bay is a sewage dump, skip that one. Sorry that's all the advice I can provide.
  14. @Crazy planning mom are you looking at your dollar exchange when viewing prices?
  15. Thanks in advance. I am familiar with St. Thomas, but never looked at the beaches from a child's needs point of view (that's what I need help with). Looking for; no drop-offs in the water, few waves/current with facilities like bathrooms and food. We normally do Coki/Coral world as adults, don't care about it being busy, but looking for alternatives and feedback of what you all think would be better for the kiddos.
  16. give yourself an hour to get back from coral world/coki. It's usually a 25-30 minute ride as it's on the east end of the island. traffic gets backed up near the port and easily adds 15 minutes or more. There are plenty of taxis available, you may need two.
  17. trip advisor is a great secondary choice, read the reviews and make sure they are recent. We use many excursions through trip advisor and knock on wood, no issues
  18. there are many taxis lined up at coral world/coki beach, so if you wanted to stay longer... you could catch one of those. I have had zero problems catching a taxi and the same driver returns at my selected time to pick us up. We have always paid after returned to the port. We do this once a year if not more, have fun and let us know!
  19. coki is my favorite beach there too. We both know how crowded it gets after the tours to the aquarium let out. They generally only spend an hour there and gather on that side of the beach. So facing the water, I would head to the left. If you recall, there are more chairs than spots.. so worst case is getting chairs from two different vendors, which they are happy to do. Booking ahead was not something I found and am not sure how this works as the vendors are a bit territorial over their perceived spot on the beach. So I say go for coki, and just know that around 1pm to 2pm it will be busy near the bathrooms where the snorkelers hang out. The snorkelers usually don't rent chairs as well.
  20. food is so subjective and my coffee hasn't kicked in yet. From memory, the 150, then the Italian restaurant, assuming you have a great steak house near you, I would put chops third.
  21. if the carry on luggage has wheels, no issues. There is a wide variety of places to sit, near the windows will keep concerns of water splashing down, or an upper deck.
  22. It should be announced in the cruise compass. Husband and I will be freezing our tushies off on the 45 yard line of the Bills, cheering them on! We will wave at you.
  23. If you want to compare pricing or get a general idea, trip advisor (choose your itinerary), gives excursion pricing.. the cruise ships are around that or more expensive. plus you may find something that's not offered by the ship.
