  1. South Africa has mandated that passengers carry their passports.
  2. As someone posted in a separate topic, a Seabourn tour group on a walking tour of Port Elizabeth, South Africa was robbed at gunpoint today. Phones, money/cards, passports - everything taken. (We’re obliged to carry our passports on shore in South Africa for reasons I don’t understand.) Everyone is alright, fortunately, just very shaken.
  3. It was a Seabourn walking tour of Port Elizabeth. I understand everyone is OK, just shaken up. Very sad.
  4. That did happen to me once, but it was on Azamara, when a drunk, angry woman grabbed a pile of plates from the buffet and started flinging them one by one towards her husband’s head… until the crew managed to restrain her. They were both marched off the same day.
  5. An “altercation” would have been juicy! 😃 When the alarm went off, the Officer of the Watch commandeered “first stage response teams to deck 8 aft, the Colonnade”. A few minutes later Ross came on to say that a fan malfunctioned as the kitchen was shutting down for the night, triggering an alarm, and that it was all resolved, and that all crew could stand down. And that was it…
  6. I’ve spotted one on deck 6, one on deck 7 and one on deck 8… but then again, I haven’t walked decks 4, 9 and 10 yet 🙂 Our neighbors were complaining today that their friends are in quarantine “because they made the mistake of asking for cough medicine in the shop”, got sent to the nurse, tested and after a positive result quarantined. I asked what they meant with “mistake” and was told that they themselves would avoid the doctor to avoid quarantine. When I asked “so you’d just go about your day infecting others?” the answer was “Yes, absolutely, it’s time people get over it”. Speechless. Fortunately they’re leaving in Cape Town.
  7. As of recently, the Expedition ships have done away with formal nights.
  8. There’s one table that seats 8 on Sojourn.
  9. Amazing Marina Day today on Sojourn at Praslin, The Seychelles 👌🏻
  10. Easter egg hunt with the amazing Ross and Kyla and Easter lunch with the wonderful Jody.
  11. Wasn’t it amazing? We’re on the ship with you and I just wanted to say thanks for all your posts/updates. I’m very much enjoying following your experience of this amazing world cruise!
  12. It’s open for lunch and dinner, first come first served (no reservations). Dinner is best, it’s an extensive menu with much more than just sushi, incl. amazing hot meat dishes. I’m confident your wife will find something to her liking.
  13. We’ve had 3 on Sojourn’s World Cruise to date, since leaving Miami 6 January. All good fun.
  14. Not Azamara, but Seabourn - Many disembarked the evening before in Papeete 2 months back as all but a few international flights are evening departures.
  15. Did you see the message about balcony deep cleaning? This is “home base” for the cleaning team. They’re using lots of heavy equipment.
  16. 20+ replies to this April Fools joke incl. comments about cash flow issues. People on this forum need to lighten up.
  17. All V1 cabins are forward? If you want to be mid ship, book a V3 or V4.
  18. My recommendations would be to stop obsessing about other people’s opinions, relax and make your own memories, as well as to not spend too much time defining your expectations and then constantly measuring everything on board against those. Chill. Go with the flow. You’re on holiday. Life on Seabourn is pretty damn spectacular still, despite whatever may or may not have changed. Just my 2 cents!
  19. What other venue? I haven’t met a single unhappy person onboard. Very confusing. Sure, everyone has their own little “issues” (from beets to cookie recipes to the piano player) but none of that makes for a bad cruise. I’d very happily do it all over again! The people who are never going to be happy, on any cruise line, are the people who want everything to remain as it was on their first few cruises. Things never do. I fondly remember my father complaining almost ever day in the 1980s and 1990s how everything was so much better in the 1950s and 1960s. This is no different.
  20. We loved the salad 🫣 But then again I like beets. The ribs were amazing. We ordered seconds.
  21. Well, there’s 2. Maybe 1 fell off? There’s your 50% capacity 🤣
  22. This is day 87 for us on Sojourn and we’ve had only 2 port changes. One port in the Caribbean was changed last minute because of issues with construction on the dock and we skipped Lima because of the political violence / riots.
  23. And if it doesn’t work out, don’t worry, just go see the seating hostess after you’ve boarded the ship. We’ve never had problems getting in.
