  1. That’s a real shame. I’m hoping for a better spot on 20 October when Explora 1 is the only ship in town.
  2. Seabourn doesn’t charge corkage. Why would they? Much better for them if you drink wine you bring yourself than included wine they have to pay for 🙂 So I’m not surprised at all Explora doesn’t do either.
  3. The problem with Explora’s premium wine list is that the wines are priced as if you haven’t already paid (a lot) for an ultra luxury cruise. They use the same if not higher markups as premium restaurants on shore. Two examples: I can get a bottle of Dom P for 40% less on Seabourn, and a bottle of Opus One for a whopping 65% less. We order a lot of premium wine on Seabourn because it’s roughly being sold at or slightly above retail prices. We won’t be ordering any on Explora.
  4. Plus Seabourn’s pool grill, the Patio, isn’t only burgers. It has freshly grilled fish, a special of the day, sandwiches, a salad bar, an ice cream station and there’s a fully stocked bar where you can also get delicious frozen drinks… all while relaxing in the open air and watching the ocean go by 😃 It reads like there’s a lot to like about Explora, and things to fix that sound quite easily fixable to me. The key question is - is Management open to feedback? Time will tell.
  5. … and that actively advertises with “all day dining”.
  6. Excuses, excuses. The place should be open longer, period. Can anyone on board now confirm that the Burger Station is indeed still open after 2 pm?
  7. But they’re not a ship, they’re a floating hotel, and hotels don’t do hors d’oeuvres 😉 As for salad dressing, I’m European and have salad daily… with ranch or thousand islands. Something else that needs to be fixed. Really appreciate your daily updates!
  8. Even on a sea day it’s absurd you can’t get a burger by the pool after 2 pm. Or anything for that matter.
  9. You keep comparing to other cruise lines that aren’t in the luxury market either. First Azamara, now Viking. Maybe we just have different definitions of luxury.
  10. Great news. Let’s hope it’s not a one off or just for a few days.
  11. Based on everything I’ve read so far, EJ aren’t in the luxury market, not even close. But I’ll judge for myself on 20 October. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised and amazed 🙂
  12. We will be trying it out 22 October. I’ll report back.
  13. I’m sorry, but the ship is half full. If MSC - with all its experience - can’t provision correctly for a half full ship, I hate to think what things will be like when they start selling out. There’s just no excuse for this at Explora’s price point.
  14. I don’t, but when you enter the port there’s a large sign that shows ship names and terminal numbers. Drivers know this. There’s also the Marine Traffic app that has live positions for all ships that can show you precisely where Explora 1 is early morning the day you embark.
  15. Great outcome. Hopefully they sort some of their onboard issues by then. We’re sailing 20 October. Curious to see for myself what it’s like.
  16. When the ship was first launched, there were formal nights. Seabourn got rid of them about 9 months ago.
  17. Apples and pears. Atlas is small ship, intimate expedition cruising (less than 200 passengers) with zodiac landings, etc. Explora Journeys ships carry 900 passengers and mostly sail in the Med and Caribbean.
  18. We are Seabourn regulars and are sailing Explora on 20 October. I’ll definitely post my observations.
  19. Wow. A CCO change after just 6 months. Poor Norbert Stiekema… the issue isn’t commercial performance, the issue is that the product is so much less than what was hyped up over the past 2 years.
  20. Sounds like just a clumsy way of your stewardess trying to say ‘don’t bother with the tap water, I’m bringing you our Nordaq’. I don’t think there was any more to it. The tap water on Seabourn is the same as on any other cruise ship.
  21. We’ve decided the same as Catlover54 and are holding off on any further Explora bookings (following our upcoming Explora I cruise on 20 October) as the new itineraries are of no interest to us. We were keen to look beyond Seabourn but finally locked in our plans for 2024 today and… it’s all Seabourn. Let’s see what 2025 brings.
  22. Thanks for posting but it’s hard to take influencers on a free cruise who use “amazing” in every sentence seriously. Let’s see if they come back to Explora if/when they have to pay $2000 per day.
  23. It’s only a good idea if you are willing to accept any suite incl. the ones all the way upfront (more motion), the ones with slightly smaller balconies and the accessible suites for persons with disabilities.
