  1. I used to swear by bar soap until Jane introduced me to bath/body buffs now a squeeze of liquid soap on one lathers up nicely in the shower.
  2. WHen we were on the crossing part of our 2019 Carribean cruise, two of our table mates who were on a back to back had a split package as she didn't drink. So it's definitely possible.
  3. We are doing this in September with a couple of days in a hotel for my Birthday, How is it getting a cab from the port to the hotel & and more importantly from the airport to the ship ? I''ve booked 4 suitcases on EayJet to accomdate Jane's shoe collection.
  4. Here's a montage of some of my partners outfits from our 2016 cruise, some of which are still going strong Some of Jane's outfits
  5. I made it, albeit with a couple of cheats (bought lemon curd and packet jelly and 100s &1000s instead of mixed peel) for a BBQ at friends and it wasn't too hard. It was tasty though!
  6. Oh yes! Jane poo-pooed them when I first used them, but came around when she saw how quickly they allow me to pack and unpack my case.

    Entertainment

A bit of shameless self publication, but, have a look at my blog - I've posted scans of the daily programme there. Here - https://blog.rakkor.uk/blog/daily-programme/ I may even get around to scanning our March Norway cruise one soon Out of interest, which cruise ?
  8. Barcelona to Rome 10 nights The cheapest Veranda room is £320 per night which equates to £8960 for 14 nights for Jane and myself - PG on QE Barcelona-Barcelona was £7600 for us again in August
  9. If you are comparing Oceania with Britannia then you aren't being fair. A comparable cruise to our upcoming 14 night Barcelona Cruise in August on Oceania is more expensive than our PG Fare for 10 nights, so maybe you need to use that as the minimum comparison and the PG Menu has in addition to the daily menu this adds 8 starters and 9 Entrees to the menu. PG Menus inncluding A La Carte options
  10. @Pear Carr was it $250?
  11. The Essentials package I had in March was fine while in our PG stateroom and around the ship, but once we were transferred into the quarantine cabin when I caught Covid then we had very patchy reception and it was almost unusable. It's not surprising that being closed up in a metal box, which the state room is, reduces your WiFi reception though
  12. Also Britannia menu limited? I wouldn't call a choice of 8 starters/salad/soups, 5 entrees and 5 desserts as well as cheese and crackers and an "always available" choice of steak, salmon and chicken etc limited. Link: Cunard Menus from our cruises 23rd_AUG_Dinner.pdf
  13. I see from your signature that you sailed on QM2 in 2017, but in your review state that : "Dress code: about 80% of men were wearing tuxedos on formal nights and most men were wearing jackets the rest of the time. This is definitely not for us. We come to a cruise to relax, not being forced to put a jacket and a tie." Did you not notice there was a dress code on your previous sailing ?
  14. I too have shares held in a HL ISA - I just sent off a print off of the account summary PDF with the client number redacted to. 14 days should be $250 I think that if you cruise then the shareholder OBC offers a nice yield on the investment

    Wi-Fi QM2

I wouldn't stream, rather download my required playlists to my phone in spotify, that way you have them available when not on line, essentials would be fine for this if somewhere like the Commodore Club with good WiFi coverage.
  16. I've never had a waiter serve me across the table, and if they were unable to serve me from the right for some reason they always apologised for coming in on the wrong side (or left for a left handed waiter). I too have only had wooden coat hangers in the stateroom, Pre-covid all toiletries were provided it's only since covid that they have been restricted which I assumed was on hygiene grounds.
  17. There was liquid hand soap in a pump dispenser by the basin in our QE cabin in March, most other items are available on request, ear buds is one I can think of.
  18. Platinum give 4 days of Internet time so doubled up that can give pretty good coverage for most cruises. But I do agree apart from priority boarding/disembarkation in normal times there's not a lot else to look forward to.
  19. Just paid the balance for our September QE Western Med fly-cruise so getting excited all over again. First time for a Fly - Cruise out of Barcelona, as they aren't really my thing, but the price was right and it is a whole bunch of new ports for Jane. We also received an email about extra villa availability when we are out in Cyprus in July so I'm trying to persuade Jane that an extra two weeks lying by the pool will be good for my rehabilitation.
  20. It always pays to ask if you are in the correct line, At Ocean terminal for our last QE cruise we had been put in the Platinum Holding area while waiting to board when Jane overheard someone stating that Grills passengers should wait around the corner, It turned out that we were in the wrong queue and although we wouldn't have been delayed boarding by much, it felt nice to be in the correct queue.
  21. We did a walking tour of Brooklyn on our 2019 Caribbean cruise - It was excellent (Urban Adventures)
  22. In the Grills you get a choice of disembarkation time, pick one from six or eight slots. Needless to say if you're in quarantine you will be off last.
  23. All staff work masks at all times on our Norway Cruise in March - The only exception were performers in the theatre or other venues like the Commodore Club
