P&O Cruisers - What are things like where YOU are?
Angel57 replied to Host Sharon's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
So sorry to hear of your loss Ann. Losing our Mums is very tough at any age. Hoping all goes well on Monday. Gill x -
I’ve only done world cruises on Aurora (2012/13/14 when world was very different) but have visited most of those ports. In my opinion, I’d say the itinerary was a good one and going the right way round - But it’s very much down to what you personally want to see and do.

Those mushrooms are everywhere at the moment……. Used to work in Epsom for an oil company and lived not far from there. Lovely area. -

Thanks Harry. I could get one at beginning of November but (and maybe a silly decision) I didn’t want it within a few days of the other booster. So have 14th November booked now. -

I just had my flu jab for tomorrow cancelled as no available supply. Had to rebook for mid November! -
You can never tell what it’ll be like at any time of the year. More likely to be a little rougher during the winter, but I’ve had it really calm and also had a force 10. If prone to seasickness aim for mid-ships and start taking the sea sickness tablets before the ship departs as most are preventative as opposed to a cure.

My thoughts on Iona, Norwegian Fjords - September 2022

I’ve taken an unfinished cocktail or G&T into the dining room so pretty sure there wouldn’t be a problem with that. -

They said food waiters took wine order. They didn’t have to wait any longer than before. -

Friends got off Aurora today and said there were no wine waiters -

If you are going to understandably worry about it until then, it’s not worth the stress - so in that case seriously look at changing it. x -
Do P &O Regularly Ring Pax 35 mins before last onboard time?

Yes - and getting us down the gangways at the speed of a thousand gazelles (which became tut tuts in Vietnam!). -

I can understand how you feel Sue, but now the rules have changed maybe wait until nearer final balance time or change it to a higher priced cruise for 2024? -

Really like sailing with Captain Turnbull. I always remember him letting the crew off first in Mumbai as he said it was important they had the maximum amount of time with their families. I heard no complaints from passengers (altho I’m sure a few grumps would have tutted!).- 55 replies

Do P &O Regularly Ring Pax 35 mins before last onboard time?
Angel57 replied to tring's topic in P&O Cruises ( UK )
I’ve never heard of it before either. If 35 mins before pax onboard time then that is a tad early for them to be chasing you. If 35 mins before sailing I think I would be pleased they were checking up on my whereabouts cos if you’d got your timings wrong then that phone call would save an awful lot of hassle and expense in rejoining ship at the next port……. Did you find out if other passengers have similar calls? -
I think that is good advice. As said above I like one formal a week and if P&O want to make the newer ships more casual then that is a good compromise.
-
I personally like one formal night a week but I find that last comment of yours (which I totally agree with by the way) rather sad. I don’t ever want my holiday to be just “normal” - but that is all P&O are aspiring to be now? 😢

You’ve been missed Emma so it is great to see you posting again. I am so sorry your health has not been good, but it is great you have a supportive Brother and SiL and even better that you are cruising again. None of us know what the future holds which is why we have to grab life with both hands and enjoy it. Gill x -

I remember those days when you had the same officer allocated to your table most nights. That was in the beautiful Coral Dining Room on Victoria. We had a mix of officers from the bridge and also entertainment officers over the years and got invited some great cocktail parties! -

@Purdey16 keeping my fingers crossed your father-in-law recovers quickly. -
I went on the P&O tour a few years ago and loved the cable car up and the basket ride down. Susan Colman recently did it on one of her cruise programmes on Ch5.

I get reminders firstly on repeat prescription tab and then by text. Earlier this year I had a text in block capitals saying my blood pressure tablets would not be issued if I did not have my annual blood test. Aside from the block capitals which imo is shouting - I said I had tests done 6 months ago and doctor happy to continue with every 12 months. Oh they said - we don’t have time to read doctors notes…… 🙄 I do think a text reminder for appointments is an excellent idea tho.
