At some point the OP must have given Carnival the info. I don't know that the TA would be involved? I don't remember the exact process used "7 years ago".

If the ship switched to shore power that is normal for a moment. -
It could impact revenue.

New way for requesting Carnival shareholder obc now?
BlerkOne replied to martinchem's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I'm not positive, but suspect you could change the password as soon as they accept your proof. They have no need to keep checking. If I was going to give them a password, I would have changed it first, and later changed it back. For others, try putting Fidelity as your brokerage. -

It's a different process for sure. One area that is streamlined for me is that once the proof is accepted, you don't have to keep uploading. If you have another cruise before July (or whenever the current period expires), you just provide the ship and sail date. Even if on another Carnival brand like Princess -
This would be my guess. I would think law enforcement somewhere would have a file on the fraudster and how the operation works.

So many opinions with so much unknown and only one side. Trial by public opinion is meritless.

This is what I was suspecting when I was thinking sketchy. Reminds me of a scammer in England years ago that was giving amazing deals until he wasn't and left a lot of people with no cruises or deposits. They did catch up to him, but he didn't have sufficient assets to pay everyone back. Someone offering great deals is a red flag.

New Vessel ordered for the Carnival Group with Fincantieri.

Not buying any of that, but Royal is better at paying more per lower bunk, and with unique designs having a disadvantage at economies of scale as well. -
I think they might be able to get the deposit back, but would still be on the do not sail list until someone makes Carnival whole. And no guarantees that would get them off the list.

Zelle is owned by a group of large banks. The person apparently went on the cruise years ago, so received what they paid for. It is Carnival who is out the money.
-
The fraud was "about 7 years ago" and wasn't with a credit card, but Zelle, which I would never use. I think the statute of limitations might be a factor. That Zelle didn't exist before June 2017 might also be a factor.

Anytime you use a travel agent, legitimate or not, all communication goes through the travel agent. Carnival doesn't deal directly with the cruiser at that point.

You left those details out. All you posted was: "This agent was referred to me by another person who used him." Another person could be anyone, including a shill on the internet.

You should get an email that they forwarded the info onto Carnival and then another one when Carnival responds. -

Stockperks doesn't approve or deny OBC. They just accept or reject ownership of the stock and forward that onto the cruise line. I think you need to contact Carnival to verify what the OBC is for. -
I don't see how Carnival is responsible for anything the "travel agent" did. So what if you can prove fraud by a travel agent? It isn't Carnival's problem. Maybe somehow you can write it off. How you chose the TA and the TA themselves all seems sketchy. But it really doesn't matter. You did it. I would never pay by Zelle. You have almost no protection. I think the only thing to do is to ask Carnival if you reimburse them to get off of the list or what it might take. Whatever they say is likely the final answer.

Aren't Royal's water limits per cabin what Carnival allows per person? I think all aluminum cans are plastic lined. -

Not directed at you, but those who think bigger is better when it comes to gross tonnage. You correctly pointed out high volume spaces. -

The "tonnage" refers to volume, not weight or square footage. Having high ceilings nets more tonnage, but not really more room per passenger. It does give pigeons more room to fly around. -

Diamond events depend on the number of Diamonds and the number of sun spots. On this cruise there were relatively few so we ended up with cocktails and nibbles. And a number of officers who visited the peeps. I was lucky enough to have the beverage manager (Lucky, of course) visit with me most of the time. Drinks were anything and everything desired. The nibbles were tasty - I ended up grabbing an unused plate or two from other tables to try some of everything.
