  1. @marshhawk I’m sorry that nurse added to your pain. I remember when my brother was dying asking for some more pain meds and being told by a nurse he could get addicted.
  2. No, you are so right! I totally forgot! Lol! Wet noodle 😂 for me as I actually have some Basque heritage.
  3. We really liked the Marriott as well, nice dinner, great breakfast and really comfortable beds. praying for Baby Murphy and family! @Mr. Boston that is an interesting area, hope you can explore the basque area and try the tapas in San Sebastián if possible! @Crazy For Cats love the photos of Newfoundland
  4. Good morning and thanks all! @cruising sister I am just so sorry to hear of the continued struggles exacerbated by the surgeon. Praying for the best path forward. @Heartgroveso sorry for your loss! @kazu your hydrangeas are sublime! Thank you for sharing! @Crazy For Cats I love how much they sing in Newfoundland! @Cruising-along hope you are feeling better! @seagarsmokersounds like your friends had a great cruise, my aunt and cousins live in Seattle and I think downtown is not the same, sadly. Hope you too have a great cruise! A giant toadstool
  5. Thanks Lenda! I always appreciate your kind comments. It is a tiny bit improved! I hope your DH is doing better! We had a lot of driving this weekend and inconsistent cell service so I may have missed some things. I also want to say how much I appreciate your wonderful photos and consistent use of multiquotes. Coming in late from a western time zone it makes it so much easier, thanks for your kind consideration.
  6. Love both of them and the Musee de Cluny in a beautiful small chateau with the lady and the unicorn tapestries.
  7. Good day and thanks all! Trieste is a fabulous place, visit lovely Castello del Miramare if you go, the coastline that inspired Rilke, and the lovely town Palmanova shaped like a star. We spent several days in the region. We are still suffering extreme smoke, the most days ever recorded. Hoping some winds come soon although the rain hasn’t helped! Bon voyage @RMLincoln
  8. Oh I didn’t realize as there were five posts in a row. I really appreciate the ease of reading with the combined quotes.
  9. Great photos today! Thanks everyone! Nice to see the photos of @marshhawkand @catmando @dfish bless you, such a sad situation, but having an reliable adult can really help a young one! @Sharon in AZ happy birthday to your DM!
  10. We had a Great experience with Nautilus. We visited several places to swim, saw the Durrell home and had a wonderful BBQ on board with home made Greek dishes, fresh fish etc. The boat easily accommodates about twenty so you may wish to get some others to join you to make the cost more reasonable. We literally thought it was one of our best excursions. They do book up.
  11. @grapau27 please pass on my condolences to your Sarah, I lost my brother to a brain tumour so I know how difficult that is. I nearly missed your sad news. Not sure you’re aware but if you are quoting and you click on the plus by the quote, CC will multiquote for you.
  12. Catching up late as we were camping. But the smoke is so extreme the whole province is covered. Some places were over 300! Some fires will need winter to end. I was so sorry to hear about baby Murphy! @Crazy For Cats I am so sorry to hear about your mom’s fall and hospitalization. So hard when you’re away! To add to the hybrid conversation, there’s also the Toyota Venza and several Lexus ones. That’s my plan next vehicle. Since 2007 our vehicles have not needed anything other than routine maintenance.
  13. It happened a few times. Just enough to really surprise me as did the off limit deck. Also was asked about where I read. The Canadian universities don’t quite fit. I have a few friends who have emigrated to the UK and they have shared similar experiences. Nothing bad but one is aware of class differences. I felt a little uncomfortable and although we enjoyed our cruise we felt it was a lesser experience in just a balcony. We have just not encountered that on HAL whether in a Neptune or oceanview.
  14. Sounds like great speakers. Sadly that’s lacking on Hal. I can’t speak for the grills but we found the MDR not nearly as good as HAL. We wondered if that was because of the grills and the ship within a ship. We loved the buffet, tea and library. We also disliked being asked by passengers if we were in the grills. Prefer the egalitarian approach on HAL. Doesn’t matter if you’re in a Neptune or whatever. I realize others may disagree.
  15. Good morning and thanks all! @RMLincoln a very happy birthday to you? @Quartzsite Cruiserhappy anniversary! Enjoy! @Crazy For Cats yikes, hope all goes well! @kazu Good news on the physio! Hoping it does the trick!
  16. Rabbit rabbit rabbit! and thanks to all, I learned to love tofu. Especially in Japan with a ginger teriyaki Ike sauce and scallions. @Cruzin Terri happy birthday! @marshhawk so sorry! Hoping things improve very soon! @smitty34877 I am sending you wishes for improvement soon. Glad you are going for a nice walk! @kazu I am so sorry your elbow hasn’t improved! Praying it does soon! DGD is volunteering today for Rescue adoption event! Six pups, sounds like @Seasick Sailor
  17. @Haljo1935@grapau27 Thanks! In order the beaches are: Tropea, Italy, Elafonisi, Crete, Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii Mauna Kea, the Big island of Hawaii Montenegro
  18. Good day and thanks all! Grief is often what we don’t talk about, yet it is life changing. I worked with a number of students who had lost their parents, truly the most important work I did. @dfish love those fish tacos! Thanks for the port photos, Lenda, Sandi and Tony! I hope everyone stays safe! @ger_77 agree you did the right thing! my mom had the inner ear issue and the exercise really helped her. @Cruising-along hope you feel better soon! @Seasick Sailor what a touching story! Love beaches!
  19. Just popping in to say I hope everyone stays safe! Woo hoo, congratulations Sandi on Five star! I’m sure you’ll get your gold medallion ! We were with a friend when she received hers, very nice! Good to hear that HIA counts, we’re ever so close to four!
  20. Everyone is different, but it’s not a badge of honour to do without and deprive yourself of something you really want if you can afford it. We have friends who fall into this camp and will leave a very large inheritance. As our age creeps up, the horizon comes nearer. I learned a lot from my parents, my dad grew up in the depression and it made it almost impossible for him to spend any money. He saved everything and loved going to Hawaii, but we had to buy the tickets without his full knowledge. You could only borrow money for a house, period. My mother taught me the importance of donating to charity, she didn’t have a large income but faithfully donated her entire life and from her estate. We’ve always been about experiences rather than things. I have always loved to travel and that has been a priority in our family. New cars didn’t come until much much later in our lives. I am grateful to have more than enough, so we follow my parents examples.
  21. Late to the party, after returning from the lake, darn smoke! Sadly, still in the sleepless club. @Crazy For Cats how wonderful! We had the opportunity for a Neptune once, only downside is now you’ll want one again! Enjoy! @cruising sister so sorry to hear about baby Murphy, praying it is darkest before the Dawn. @rafinmd just wanted to say how much I appreciated your photo, reminds me of being onboard! Lol! I used to tell my junior highs I was 80,. They said ok and carried on. I thought bless your heart had an alternative meaning 😂🤷‍♀️😉 glad you enjoyed the beautiful trails. Guess some were looking for the diamonds international and shops, lol! Yikes, hope you heal well!
  22. @Clay ClaytonLove this thread, the Book sounds good and a World cruise! Ooh! I just read the Description of the book and it seems to align with my philosophy. I lost my brother at 30 so I realized life is Now, not retirement. I put it on hold at the library, lol! Still frugal I guess. The one who leaves with the least wins, lol! Also on a more serious note, it’s also nice to help the kids now when they really need it if you can afford it. I remember my parents buying a new washer dryer when we had our first child, I think I appreciated that more than a much larger inheritance when I really didn’t need it. @shipgeeks just curious why you don’t like a balcony? It’s interesting when I think of the tortoise and the hare, we are similar, didn’t make the really big bucks but that guaranteed income has made things very pleasant for us. Sounds like you have travelled a lot along the way! Way to go! Happy travels in what ever way you wish!
  23. Good morning and thanks all. Add me to the strange sleep club. No thank you. so nice to see the great suggestions for Rome. Such an amazing city. I second Galleria Borghese, I have never seen such amazing sculptures We had a lovely lunch in the wilds of rural Alberta by a silver medalist chef at the world culinary Olympics. Bison and Korean short rib burgers. Also an interesting view
