  1. I think that plan will work, we stayed at a hotel Granvia right at the train station so that was easy. It is also worth a visit to Miyajima late in the day. Not sure what you mean about the two nights in Osaka? If that means less of a rush, we spent two nights in Hiroshima and that worked well for us.
  2. Maybe I’m the exception, but I enjoy eating with others and not being segregated. I really didn’t like the atmosphere of class on Cunard and their MDR was definitely lacking. although I did like the Pinnacle Grill for breakfast.
  3. Good morning! Well we had rain so today we have the wet smoke smell, I foolishly thought the rain would help clear it out. Prunes also may help with bone density. Thanks for the wonderful Shetland photos, I’m a fan of the tv show and Ann Cleeves. It feels very familiar. We are scheduled to visit next year, hopefully. But HAL just changed the cruise a lot, instead of embarking in Copenhagen and visiting Oslo they have both been dropped. We love Copenhagen, so not a plus for us to go through Amsterdam. DH takes some wonderful photos. And Sometimes I’m lucky.
  4. When we had a Neptune suite we were invited to a special cocktail even with officers in the Tamarind lounge. It was lovely, I’m sad that sounds like it is no longer. I loved the space and the huge balcony on an aft wrap. Nothing quite like having a beautiful dinner out there sailing between the Greek islands. But alas, a signature suite or balcony is my usual go to.
  5. It’s such a nasty disease! My brothers was the size of an orange when they operated. Praying he has some more good days! @Cruzin Terri stay safe, we’ve had several yesterday and today in our province, too.
  6. @kochleffelmy DH has family in that county too.! @smitty34877 sending hugs, seeing the oncologist is SO hard! Black humour really can help! @57redbird some good news
  7. Will stay tuned for your Anchorage report, however I have some contenders for Greek salads…. Crete, Rhodes, Meteora and Katakalon now if we are going to talk shrimp salad, Vernazza wins hands down!
  8. Thanks for sharing the photos of your cabin, so spacious. Looks like it was a nice upgrade also glad to see you TM’d the fish and chip challenge, lol! Looking forward to future contributions.
  9. Oh my! travel is definitely not for the faint of heart but your lovely photos and attitude make all the difference! Air France definitely has a certain attitude🤷‍♀️ I absolutely loved your photos of the Admiral hotel, we stayed there and thoroughly enjoyed the quirky rooms and lovely breakfast outside. You brought back great memories of Copenhagen, we were booked to sail from there next year but HAL has changed it to Amsterdam instead. It was so refreshing to read your report and how you roll with what arises. Thank you Miss G.
  10. Yup, but this was awhile ago, they would barely talk to me and told me my agent had to call. They were the only ones who could make changes on the bookings and all the payments had to go through them.
  11. @Quartzsite Cruiser I’ve learned to take ancestry with a pound of salt! Argh!
  12. Mine were always after final payment as well. I am truly curious if there’s been a change in policy. @StLouisCruisersnice!
  13. That must be new, if I have booked directly with HAL that has been the case, but if I’ve booked through a TA they’ve always made me go though them. Wondering if it makes a difference on who your TA is?
  14. Interesting, how did you arrange payment?
  15. In my experience HAL would only deal with the TA and payment had to go through them. Has this changed?
  16. Happy birthday @Denise T Agree it sure beats the alternative, now time to do what you want! Enjoy! That’s good news @Heartgrove I am sorry The smoke is disrupting so many, It really takes the joy out of summer and is so dangerous to so many! Praying for rain, we haven’t had any to speak of for at least a month. Many thanks to all the countries sending firefighters, the US, France, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa that I’m aware of. It truly is a global effort with over four million hectares burned so far.
  17. Welcome back! Gotta love those sea bugs! Aka lobster
  18. We found the binoculars left a lot to be desired, Bring your own.
  19. Good morning and thanks all! Jumping into the rhubarb discussion, we should have rhubarb ice cream with that pie! Just a note on Saskatoons, they can be dry and mealy or really delicious and plump, I think it depends on how much water they get. We had some wonderful flavourful, plump ones last summer where our RV lot is. Almost a little bit of cinnamon flavour. @Cruzin Terri we found a light Goretex jacket with light merino wool sweaters to be ideal for layers and take up little room. Or a fleece and down vest under your goretex also works, we enjoyed Korcula our last cruise
  20. A Durrell tour would be a great idea. We took a lovely boat tour and saw the house from the water. Highly recommend Nautilus if you can get a group together. One of our favourite tours ever with a barbecue onboard, and lots of time to swim.
  21. Good to hear, we used him in 2019 and he was excellent. We did the ancient cities of Priene, Didyma and Miletus as we’d visited Ephesus several times.
