  1. I would book the flight you want (non-stop to BOS). If you end up cancelled they'll either put you on the DL non-stop flight or route you via JFK.
  2. COPA has installed lie-flat seats on the 737 MAX aircraft. Keep in mind equipment swaps can happen and if you end up on a non-MAX then you will have the older recliner seats very similar to US Domestic first class. In fact I think they use the same seats that Continental used. As for the MAX itself, I have no issues. I've flown it more often lately than anything else.
  3. Yes you can, just select your desired date of departure and the Flights by Celebrity website will show the selection of flights along with the price.
  4. Mind you, the fare that is shown on the website is the blended average fare for 2 people, it's not like the first person is the price on the website and the second person is 75% off of that. So for example on a random cruise I pulled up, the Celebrity website shows $1,079 per person. In reality, when you go to book you see: Guest 1: $1,786 Guest 2: $371 So the total is $2,157 or an average of $1,079 per person.
  5. At LAX Uber Black picks up on the arrivals level in any White Passenger Pickup which is on the outer island. The pillars are numbered and your driver may ask which pillar you are at. Unless you get lucky and get someone already in the loop it will take a little while for the Uber Black to arrive.
  6. Welcome to Cruise Critic! While sometimes you can find a good deal booking a cruise at relatively last minute (e.g. less than a month or two prior to sailing), the booking avenue would be the cruise line website, telephone call center and/or a travel agent. Cruise lines by in large don't have sales offices at the port and the folks at the port (most don't even work directly for the cruise line) are there to check in reserved passengers as opposed to selling cruises.
  7. Somewhat OT, but I know someone who was convinced he could get a great deal on a cruise by showing up at their Corporate Office (about a 10 minute drive). Needless to say he was handed a card with their toll free number.
  8. Not all cruise airfare is bad. Many cruise lines allow you to pick your flights at time of booking, pay when final payment is due, get cheaper air and offer some protection on delays causing you to miss the ship. That being said, some offer what I refer to as "opaque air" where the cruise line chooses your flights with limited recourse if you don't like them. Of these, I've heard the most grumbling about NCL which appears to assign your flights 30-45 days prior and if you don't like them, then tough since their custom air closes 75-110 days prior to sailing. Perhaps you would have been lucky and gotten the non-stop flights both ways, but just as likely if not more likely to have to double-connect via the US or some other country.
  9. TSA at JFK will allow access to other terminals with any valid JFK boarding pass. Given the Amex Lounge, Chase Lounge and other Priority Pass lounges are in T4, the TSA there is used to people doing this. I've done it myself. If you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve, the associated Priority Pass can also be used at the Bobby Van's Steakhouse in T8 for a $28 per person credit.
  10. I took the subject line "on AA" to mean an AA-AA connection, though BA-AA, IB-AA or AY-AA would have the same result.
  11. At ORD, all non-Precleared international flights arrive at Terminal 5. So you would clear Immigration/Customs at T5 and have to take a train over to Terminal 3 for AA for your ongoing domestic flight. At JFK, AA flights all arrive/depart out of Terminal 8, so you wouldn't have to transfer terminals. Otherwise 6 in one, half dozen the other.
  12. Checkin and luggage acceptance times vary by airline. Who are you flying?
  13. FYI, Alaska Airlines will begin returning 737 MAX 9 aircraft into service on Friday following new inspections. https://news.alaskaair.com/alaska-airlines/operations/as-1282/
  14. At this point, any Alaska Airlines mainline flight is a risk irrespective of the scheduled aircraft. With each day Alaska (and United) are choosing which flights they want to operate and which ones aren't. With the flights they choose to operate they swap in whatever aircraft they can (e.g. 737-900, -800, -700, -8MAX, etc). Using the OP's PDX-FLL flight as an example, it's operating today, flew yesterday and was cancelled the five days before. The PDX-MIA flight cancelled the last two days but operated 5 of the previous 6.
  15. Only difference I see is seating. AA offers complimentary advance seat assignments and as a Gold member you would have access to Preferred seats at time of reservation and Main Cabin Extra seating at checkin. With Iberia advance seating is paid only and their website doesn't specify any benefit for oneWorld Ruby members (it does for their Sapphire and Emerald levels).
  16. What sorts of activities do your kids enjoy doing on ship? Celebrity doesn't feature water slides, rock walls, rides or (to the best of my knowledge) game rooms, so depending on the types of activities they enjoy onboard, they may find Celebrity boring.
  17. This piqued my interest, so I looked at what Celebrity says on the subject of required documentation. So long as the last name of the parents and the child are the same, then no additional documentation is required. If the last names differ then additional documentation (no mention of adoption certificates or paperwork) is required. Family Legal Documents Should the last names of the parent and minor child traveling with them differ, the parent is required to present the child's valid passport and visa (if required) and the child's birth certificate (original, a notarized copy or a certified copy). The name of the parent(s) and the child must be linked through legal documentation. Adults who are not the parent or Legal Guardian of any minor child traveling with them are required to present the child's valid passport and visa or the child's birth certificate (original, a notarized copy or a certified copy) and an original notarized letter signed by at least one of the child's parents. The notarized letter from the child's parent must authorize the traveling adult to take the child on the specific cruise, must authorize guardian to sign legal documentation/waivers for participation in any activities requiring them and must authorize the traveling adult to supervise the child and permit any medical treatment that must be administered to the child. If a non-parent adult is a Legal Guardian, the adult must present a certified certificate of Guardianship with respect to the child.
  18. When you complete the online checkin process you will select the arrival time at port. Aqua class does not provide any kind of priority in terms of embarkation or boarding.
  19. A little depends on how long ago. In addition to a Cruise Critic roll call you could check social media to see if there was a group created for that cruise. If you're trying to find someone from a 1990s cruise that you briefly connected with and have something that they may/may not have lost and have created lots of threads here and YouTube videos searching for, I doubt you will find any new answers here.
  20. Up until now this really hasn't been an issue as the drinks in the Retreat Lounge/Michaels Club have been included in the Premium Package which >95% of Retreat guests have. That being said with the new price increases this may become more of an issue. On M/S class ships that have had a better selection of super-premium wines, I have been charged periodically in Luminae, which is fine. If the Retreat/Michaels Club actually had those (heck on Solstice it took 3 days for MC to get the Premium Package Champagne, even then it was a single bottle), I would imagine I might have been charged too. My guess is that they will simply not offer super-premium wines in the Retreat/MC so no upcharge required.
  21. Per the Singapore Airlines website, the counter at LAX opens 3 hours prior to each flight. https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/us/travel-info/check-in/airport-check-in/
  22. You go to the airline that is actually operating your flight from that airport. So if you're actually flying on Singapore Airlines, you would go to their counter.
  23. For us it was a much bigger issue. We had been quietly tipped off the first day of the second leg that 4-6 pallets had not been loaded in Dubai and stuff would start running out soon. First thing to go was the Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc, next was the Decoy cab. One of the Luminae sommeliers would wave and say "last bottle" as they went. The next day both the Hasinger (sp) and Montadon champagnes were gone. I also heard of Pinot Grigio and some Rose's going dry. They tried to field replacements, though they weren't to our liking. We expressed our disappointment at the situation and that our options were to drink the wine we didn't like or pay ~$80 a bottle for wine that isn't much better than what would have been included in the Premium package. Our concerns were escalated and we had nice conversations with the Cellar Master. He indicated all alcohol sourcing occurs via Miami and they ship to home ports for loading. He said India was a nonstarter due to customs. He said they ended up getting a little bit in Sri Lanka (mostly beer). I will say after that it got better, champagne and French sparkling reappeared (a different label) and the Rebellious red blend was also decent. I will say that I was quite pleased how they handled us.
  24. Some generic thoughts: Lounges: These are my go-to at an airport. That being said, you can only eat and drink so much and unless you are talking about the very top tier (think Lufthansa First Class Terminal, Emirates First lounge at DXB), Singapore Private Room, etc, lounges can get real old real quick. Walk around: I like walking so walking around the airport is a good and healthy way to kill some time. Airport hotel: If my layover gets past 4 or 5 hours, then I start looking for other things. Some of the smartest decisions I've made have involved spending longer layovers in a hotel room. Having your own private space, bed, private shower is bliss. Sightseeing: Another option for longer layovers, particularly if I am not lugging a lot of luggage and there are things easily accessible from the airport. Non-Airport Restaurant: If there is something reasonably close to the airport to provide a local flavor, another good option.
  25. This is not true. I was booked on the following week Apex cruise, cancelled and was not offered a refund. I got 90% FCC because I had purchased the Celebrity insurance which includes a "cancel for any reason" provision. Some customers in the UK received refunds because UK law requires it if there are "signifcant" changes in the itinerary.
