  1. If you have more overnights you have less ports in a given time frame....most clients want more ports. Having said that, the closer to optimum cruise speed the better and this is far below the 18 - 20KTS that Regent typically sails at. https://www.marineinsight.com/know-more/how-much-fuel-does-a-cruise-ship-use/ This site is really interesting.
  2. They want the new ships out as fast as possible as they expect to be at 100% capacity this year...
  3. Lets just hope it is never necessary on a Regent ship...
  4. Perhaps but not in a drill...I have no idea where you people have been. 😃
  5. Pass on touching strangers thanks
  6. Don't waste your time going to the "authentic" Amazon village - it is fake.
  7. You are correct. The Crew Fund subsidizes (or used to) tickets on excursions for crew who was allowed the time off. In about 400 excursions, we saw crew on about 15. They are there on their own time, not to work for Destination Services. Unfortunately, Destination Services is not nearly as strong as it was before Covid. Part of the reason is the changing landscape...the other part is that the new people are not as good as who they replaced.
  8. Fair doesn't mean equal, fair means equitable.
  9. That means you cannot do a compliant cleaning in NZ waters, not that "...the NZ government believes you’ve gotta haul it out of the water." You can be compliant with in-waters cleanings - you just need to have it cleaned before entering NZ waters.
  10. Regent can give it to you cruise only and all TA's have the same pricing, although some kickback money to the clients.
  11. If you ask nicely, they will mostly likely give you another for free. Compared to other cruise lines, Regent internet is dirt cheap (and horrifically slow so I guess it evens out).
  12. Keep in mind that Regent lost a LOT of staff over COVID.....people needed to work and they went to other types of jobs. Its takes time to replace trained people. Regent pulled from Destinations to fill gaps elsewhere....and now the Destination staff is very green.
  13. As a Regent client with a lot of nights (not that it matters other than to share my perspective), I feel your description is extremely accurate and this post should be pinned as it is a great resource for others. Thank you for taking the time to write it!
  14. Sounds like they don't have transfers - interested to know if they bought their own air or booked their own hotel.
  15. If you bought air through Regent and hotel through Regent you will get a transfer. If you bought your own air or bought your own hotel, you will not. Did Regent arrange for air and hotel for you or did you do either yourself?
  16. I didn't feel any vibration issue...just on Navigator and I kind of like it there.
  17. I've stayed in the same suite - totally agree.
  18. Typically, FCC need to be used on a booking made in 12 months and sailed within 24 months....is that not the case here?
  19. Hey, I am a Gen Z....and while I am not in the majority, there are more and more of us every year. 😃
  20. I go back to your comment that this would take a lot of your savings. Being your first cruise in a VERY port heavy journey, you will not spend that much time on board vs. exploring. I would pick another line - we use Holland America for port heavy cruises sometimes as we can get a huge suite for short money and spend twice the time seeing ports.
  21. River Cruise - 100%. Not only will you be right in the center of things at each stop, you will be able to go for twice as long. The incremental benefit of a cruise lessens as you get closer to the top of the offerings.
  22. It doesn't get processed internally until 60 days out. They won't act on it before then as they have no idea who will be on what ship...they have another company handle the staffing for everyone but the top people.
  23. Ask your TA or your Regent Rep within 60 days of sailing.
