Agreed, it is the same to the 700 people on board.. However, the cause makes a HUGE difference to the entire customer base. I am looking forward to hearing all the details when they are public.
Or the cleaning company grossly under-estimated the work required to clean Explorer's hull to a standard acceptable to NZ inspectors. We don't know which is true....but I know Regent's history and they tend to err in favor of their passengers. We have data on this all the way up to the previous Explorer cruise. I would suggest that their track record is solid and not consistent with a company that is cutting corners or one that fails to plan ahead. We will see.
There are connections on board that are extremely fast. The customer IT guy has one and so does the internal IT person who maintains the ships servers and computers. The ship also has a fast connection for navigational/command needs. A single limited bandwidth connection is used by all the staff and guests for personal use. This should be changing very soon.
I would absolutely give up a day on board for permanent 300MB D/L speeds with no latency and no disconnects...I am in the middle of the country right now with DSL.
Flossie helped me out - once per segment. Ty Flossie!! 😃
For a while there, the online reservation system was glitched and allowed more than 1 booking.
I am suggesting that you might not be able to hotspot a wifi connection...only a cellular connection. I think you can bypass it if you make the phone work as a repeater but not certain.
Apple says cellular only.... https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204023
Can you even create a hotspot without cellular data? I am pretty sure you can't create a hotspot with an Android phone while on Wifi only....maybe a repeater, but not a hotspot.
You are not sharing bandwidth with 1 other, you are sharing with the entire ship (or rather whomever is on that network - the ship has multiple networks and multiple connections).
You get to book once visit per location per booking number (in advance). So, if you have two cruises with different booking numbers (not B2B), you get to book twice per location.
