  1. We are also booked for December. When I couldn’t book a night at the Marriott on my own I contacted my Silversea agent who was able to add the extra night pre-cruise at a very reasonable rate. I figure if the hotel changes then Silversea will honor the additional night at the same rate.
  2. Agree with you, Petoonya. Desperate times call for desperate measures. We are hoping beyond hope that our August 26 Tahiti cruise will be a go and have booked all Windstar excursions for the cruise. Meanwhile we’ll (hopefully) be sailing in the Bahamas with Crystal. No covid test required to enter the Bahamas if you’re vaccinated and you’re allowed to explore on your own. The trade off with that cruise is that it will be mighty hot in July. We’ll be on the lookout for any way we can get in the water!
  3. Hi, Truly! So glad you found your way over to the Silversea board and especially the Cooler. I too am mostly a lurker with the occasional post. I have enjoyed your posts on other boards and was sad when you felt you could no longer participate on one of them—completely agreed with you there. Love the vibe, the humor and the funnies here. This board is keeping me sane through this trying time.
  4. I would be fine with a Beach lounger and an umbrella. I see them in pictures of Resorts World Bimini but do not know if they’re available to day trippers like us.
  5. Oo I didn’t see a description on the website. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Yes, Crockford’s is the third hotel, my bad. Thanks for the gentle correction.
  7. The Las Vegas campus will have a Virgin Hotel (already open), a Conrad and the new Las Vegas Hilton. The downside is that the location is at a far end of the strip, not so easily accessible to the main part of the strip (Bellagio, Caesar's, Paris, etc.)
  8. For the beach day at Resort World on Bimini they are selling three types of cabanas: Beach, Pool and Garden. Besides the obvious, does anyone know where these are located on the property? I don't see anything in the pictures I've looked at that I would call "the Garden". And there are several pools-would the cabanas be spread out among all the pools? Trying to decide what to spring for. Also, it appears that I can pre-reserve in one guest's name only. It won't allow me to reserve one for each of us which leads me to believe these are cabanas for two people. These are fairly basic questions but it would help a lot to have the answers. TIA
  9. Actually, that’s good to hear. I have sailed several Viking river cruises and thoroughly enjoyed them. I took one Viking ocean cruise and said never again. I’ve been operating under the premise that it was the size of the ship I didn’t like so I thought I’d give a “larger” ship one more try. (I do enjoy Windstar cruises with 300 passengers or so). I’m booked on one of the July Bahamas cruises on Crystal and I have high hopes that it will be a much better experience. All of the Crystal threads have been very encouraging. Let’s hope I haven’t set my expectations too high!
  10. I always fly to my destination at least a day early. But what if we arrive at FLL, overnight and then take the ferry to Bimini. Would you be comfortable with that arrangement? Otherwise we have to add 2 extra days in Bimini to get an earlier ferry.
  11. I just called Crystal with questions about a possible booking. I got through in about 2 minutes. Hope that's not a one-off!
  12. Many countries do require testing before boarding a flight to that country but the requirements may be different from one month to the next—who knows? For example, Papeete. We know what the requirements to enter the country were before they closed to tourism in February. They reopen May 1 but we don’t know yet what they will require. So much “wait and see” going on with international travel. Hard to make plans, for sure.
  13. We all hope that the Silver Origin will start in June as scheduled. Silversea is requiring vaccinations, Ecuador is recently opened to tourists and I believe some smaller Galápagos tour operators have begun their tours. All hopeful signs. We are booked in December and are quite optimistic that the trip will be a go.
  14. Any chance Silversea is considering moving the Cloud to do a week or 10 days of circumnavigation of Iceland similar to Viking and Seabourn?
  15. Nothing published. Moon is not an expedition ship so I assumed it would be similar to the rest of the Silversea fleet as discussed here on Cruise Critic.
  16. Next question: Dress "code". We have been to Greece in August--so hot! DH is not enamored of the more formal dress code on the Moon. We've only done Silversea Expeditions so not so formal. Can he get by with a sport coat and collared shirt? I just can't picture a suit and tie in the hot weather climate.
  17. We live on the Central Coast of California, not close to an international airport. Always a lengthy journey to get anywhere East. But I will be in South Carolina visiting family and it's possible we could work the PHL-ATH flight immediately afterward to connect with the first Greece sailing. Hmm...intriguing.
  18. Are there any nonstop flights from the US to Athens?
  19. Can United States citizens transit through London Heathrow or Gatwick and get on a plane to Athens the same day (without the mandatory quarantine)? I've tried researching this myself and the UK.gov and LHR websites are as clear as mud.
  20. Does your travel agent’s insight extend to the possible pricing of this cruise?
  21. Your experience with Viking agents is very different from mine. I’ve booked 6 cruises directly with Viking. After the initial booking the booking agents have never seemed interested in returning my calls. In fact I’ve gotten the impression that the correct procedure is to call Viking and speak with whatever agent answers the phone. They can always solve my issues and seem happy to do so. The original booking agent’s name remains on the account so they get the commission and maybe that’s all they care about.
  22. My 2022 Egypt cruise was cancelled by Viking yesterday. I rebooked for 2023 and the Viking agent applied the 125% FCC to the new booking.
  23. Looked at the website this morning and saw this. Loved it-it made my day!
