Using money onboard the ship (using credits)
Tree_skier replied to Minuet888's topic in Royal Caribbean International
You still have, on the last day of your cruise, double the $ holds of your actual onboard spend. If you don't have the credit limit people would have problems. 5 days later later does you good if you card is declined the day before embarkation. -
Using money onboard the ship (using credits)
Tree_skier replied to Minuet888's topic in Royal Caribbean International
One of the stupidest things that Royal does is preauthorize all your purchases on your card but then charge the entire amount as a separate transaction at the end of the cruise. You end up with double your onboard spending showing up as pending. While that isn't a problem for us since we have high and no limit credit cards for some people it might be a problem. Also for those without credit cards who use debit cards it extremely stupid since it's not just credit that is tied up but actual cash. -
30,000 points or $300 OBC
Tree_skier replied to jobinseattle's topic in Royal Caribbean International
As others have said, it's not a choice. After the $1000 spend you get 30,000 points. One of the choices you have with points is to convert to OBC. The other options are... upgrade from interior to Outside View cabin, discount off cruise fare (points equal the same the OBC option.), or companion or full cruise discounts. -
Aft-facing balcony cabins on Liberty of the Seas
Tree_skier replied to mizLORInj's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I agree that is a down side however the higher up you go the better. I think the OP looking at deck 9 so I think things should be fine. We just had a JS on 6 and found the obstructions to be the worst we have had on an aft cabin. However, I'd still take it over a standard balcony. This was my view from deck 10... -
Price Difference Question
Tree_skier replied to jobinseattle's topic in Royal Caribbean International
In my experience, smaller ships typically have beverage packages cheaper than larger ships. Of course that isn't universally true but not a bad "rule of thumb". Of couse Itinerary can play a role as can date of sailing but if two cruises are similar in length and itinerary you can safely expect the older, smaller ship to have lower DBP and UDP price. -
I did read what you wrote. Questioning my reading comprehension isn't going to advance your cause. You threatened legal action in your first email to M. Bailey ,which you published here on CC, so at that point the story ends for them and the only logical course of action is to terminate the business relationship. The company will take the position there is no way to salvage the relationship and any accommodation short of complete capitulation that they make will be assumed to rebuffed by you. You said you weren't scared to take them to court so go ahead. Big talk on a forum or in emails is common. Action not so much. Many people gave you good advice here on CC including the email to Michael Bailey's executive office. You chose, in your communication to his office, to go nuclear. That the next response you got from them was a cancellation, which seems perfectly reasonable to me, is not surprising. But yet you still want to rant at everyone who doesn't validate your every action. Had your email to the executive office been even slightly more measured, history has shown us here on CC, some special accommodation more than likely would have been possible. I'm sure that it is possible that a computer error on Royal's part caused your unfortunate circumstances. Your combative responses to it did nothing to resolve it. If all you are looking for is validation you have come to the wrong place. I wish you well in your lawsuit.

Aft-facing balcony cabins on Liberty of the Seas
Tree_skier replied to mizLORInj's topic in Royal Caribbean International
There are no downsides... I have had two different aft facing cabins on Liberty and would gladly take one again, they are our preferred cabins on Voyager and Freedom class ships. As to why they are cheaper I can't answer. Grab it before they are gone. This is our corner aft balcony on deck 10. These are pics from 1704. The cabin next to and connecting with the JR suites. One of the biggest advantages of the aft facing balconies is that they are double length and fit loungers as well as chairs and a table. Book it before they are gone. -
First cruise from the West Coast
Tree_skier replied to RedJessi's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I've done several of the 4 day's out of LA. I like them but not necessarily for the port stops. The last two times I didn't get off the ship in Ensenada. I don't recommend the "La Buffadora" excursion. It's kind of lame. Your weather will be good since it is summer. On Catalina Island I've done the semi submerged underwater tour a couple of times. It was cool. You see a lot of colorful fish. There is a fun little mini golf that'd I'd recommend as well. You can just walk up and play. No reservations are required. It's not a typical mini golf. -
When you threatened to take them to court in your initial email, which you presented in the previous thread, you sealed the deal for them cancelling. I don't know about you but I'm not doing business with people who choose the nuclear option as the first option when something goes wrong.

Mariner - what activities are free and what cost extra?
Tree_skier replied to suec12's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I forgot there is a cupcake decorating class that my GD participated on Navigator. That had a cost, if I remember right. -
Mariner - what activities are free and what cost extra?
Tree_skier replied to suec12's topic in Royal Caribbean International
On Mariner the only activity for children that you would pay for is the Arcade, I think. If you list specific activities folks could tell you if there is a cost. -
Do all balcony rooms have sofa beds?
Tree_skier replied to Tin can's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Now that I am not sure about. I think that that is ship dependent. What ship are you on... I'm sure the experts here will chime in. -
Do all balcony rooms have sofa beds?
Tree_skier replied to Tin can's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yes. As a general rule, Royal won't let you put 3 people in a 2 person cabin is my understanding. -
There wasn't one single post that said that this would never happen. As you said, there were lots of posts saying that the same state dept warning had been in effect since July 2023 and Haiti has been a basket case for a very very long time and that Royal will act prudently and in their own best interest, which is keeping passengers safe... "Royal will stop going to Labadee if it becomes unsafe to be there. To suggest that there is risk that Royal is ignoring is preposterous. Who knows... tomorrow they could decide to cancel. However, I have 100% confidence that the situation is being monitored and should circumstances change for Labadee Royal will make other arrangements. " My quote from the previous thread above ☝️. That others want to mischaracterize that discussion or are ducking this discussion is instructive in and of itself. Hopefully the marauding band of 4000 criminals in Port-Au-Prince won't find their way to Labadee and steal all the floating beach mats. I love those things. 😇

How bad is Cococay with 11000 people?
Tree_skier replied to Neosophy's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have one booked on Oasis in December when Symphony is also there as well. 🤯 I booked Hideaway bay. I was going to book a ticket for the waterslides as well but I'm not keen to be standing in line forever either so cancelled that idea. Ive never bothered with the slides a Cococay so I want my first time to not be overwhelmed and unpleasant. We'll be there the week previous on Icon. I wasn't going to book slides since we will have so many on the ship but I might just do that. We have Voyager in port with that time. So not near as many people. -

Thank @twangster, I always love your photo's I love Labadee, Later this year we have a cruise that goes to both Labadee and Coco Cay and it'll be interesting to do a side by side comparison. -
Absolutely, I did exactly that for my son in law on our cruise on Harmony in Dec. I purchased the DBP and gave away all my D drinks to family who cruised with us.
