  1. Nothing in this article states that any Celebrity ship will be refurbished.
  2. I have to disagree. There is only one CEO and that is of the RCG, Jason Liberty. The rest of them are Presidents of their cruise lines. Michael Bayley holds a title of President and CEO of RCCL but the CEO part is pretty meaningless in the corporate structure. What is most meaningful is that LH Bethge is a career operations person at RCCL chosen to run Celebrity as President. An Operations executive will carry out the orders from the top (RCG) and that is exactly what we are seeing.
  3. My guess is that somebody will eventually bring you drinks to your suite. Eventually. Be prepared to wait for them.
  4. Jim thanks for posting! I have never seen this before.
  5. So did you order breakfast by hanging the tag on the door the prior evening? Or is that service gone too? One of the only things we had our butler do was deliver breakfast and set it up on our balcony. Not much else really.
  6. Linda my short answer is yes we are not sailing Celebrity on our next few cruises. We have for many years sailed suites on Celebrity exclusively with an occasional suite on RCCL. They have lost us for the time being as we find better options elsewhere (at least we think so but who really knows until they try?). It is too bad really since they were an excellent option for us in the past.
  7. Not quite. If you are in a suite they have it available in a cabinet in the Retreat Lounge so you can carry some back to your bathroom. But the cabinet is only open during the day.
  8. $150 a night pp? $CDN? Where and how?
  9. Yeah welcome to the Motel 6 of cruise lines, Celebrity. They'll leave the light on for ya.😀
  10. If you want good wine recommended and served by a true sommelier than go to a land restaurant. On a cruise, you likely know more than the crew member play-acting sommelier. So just order something you pick out.
  11. Obviously. But my post was about the fact that his empire was built off of Margaritaville.
  12. Interesting thread. Post a recent table of CC benefits with just an updated date. People here play Where's Waldo looking for some type of takeaways. Has it really come to this on Celebrity?
  13. Not sure why a certified true sommelier would accept the low pay (even with tips) on a cruise ship with limited wine selections. Most are just crew members with some standard knowledge of wine in my experience.
  14. Jimmy Buffet left a net worth of over 1 $billion. Not a bad life's work from one famous song. RIP.
  15. Yes good idea! I want to have separate forums for Lobster vs Non-Lobster threads.
  16. Phone reps are sitting in a call center (or at home) handling multiple cruise lines. I think many have never been on a cruise ship.
  17. Alternative. Can you book non-Celebrity excursions at a better price?
  18. So you younger folks brought the average age down to 120? 😀
  19. Enjoy your cruise. We sailed out of Venice on Constellation a few years ago. Great experience. Loved the Adriatic!
  20. Do you think this is true? Interesting perspective. It applies to E-Class ships. But suite prices are very high across all of their ships.
  21. Agree that they would rather not pay for Loyalty benefits. But that was not the key point of my post. Many of us who have sailed repeatedly in suites - and have previously and happily paid the higher fares - are switching from Celebrity. They are losing highly loyal and consistent Suite cruisers. We actually use very few benefits if any at all (maybe a bag of laundry). If we are replaced with others who pay the exorbitant prices for suites, regardless of benefits, Celebrity wins. But if the suites become hard to sell at these prices, they did it to themselves.
  22. Yet a number of folks here are "fed up" and will stop sailing Celebrity and the Retreat "after their next 4 or 5+ booked cruises". That is a big reason for these insane prices. People are complaining but not walking the walk. I know that in some cases money from deposits and payments is on the line and nobody wants to lose that. But their ships and Retreats are still sailing full so why would Celebrity change anything as long as that continues to be the case?
