  2. With 3/4 of the passengers having a beverage package, the less cocktails passengers order, the more profit Princess makes.
  3. Another cutback. Pre the restart, there were always 2 additional flavors that changed each evening. As I understand it, they still have a flavor other than V and C at lunch in the dining room.
  4. History: o Princess originally had two performances an evening, each about an hour in length. Seat supply could not meet the demand. o So Princess went to keeping those two performances and having a third performance the next evening. o Then Princess reduced the length of the shows to about 35 minutes and had three performances in one evening. o And then (and until now) Princess changed to only having two shows an evening.
  5. That does bring up a question. Will the Premier passengers need to reserve space in advance or will there be no advance reservations and it will be first come, first served with the possibility more will show up than there are seats set aside for this?
  6. As I remember reading about this on the RCI boards, in addition to the special section for suite passengers, RCI allows all passengers to reserve a space at a performance. This is not for a specific seat, but for being sure a seat was available somewhere. This led to lines long before the theater opened. One line was for those with a reservation and people lined up early in order to get a "good" seat once the doors were opened. The other line was for people without a reservation who lined up early and had to wait until unused seats were released a few minutes before the performance. These people could be on line for an hour or more with no assurance there would be room for them in the theater.
  7. At presentations to stock analysts, management has said they expect 50% of bookings to be with Plus and 25% with Premier. Of course this was before the just announced price increase which make Plus cost 50% more than a few months ago when it was $40/person/day.
  8. Princess expects about 25% of bookings to include the Premier package. So for a ship like the Royal class with around 3600 passengers, that could be 900 seats needed. Of course they will not reserve 900 seats at a performance for this, so like DMW which promises you a time to show up and be seated, but no table is available when you show up, many who book the Premier package will be disappointed when they cannot get the reserved seating they paid extra to get.
  9. Metered taxi fares in Fort Lauderdale are the same for taxi cars and taxi mini-vans. And $40 for the ten minute ride is a big rip-off.
  10. So, do people line up hoping to get one of the released seats or do people who are already seated relocate to the newly released seats when they see they are available?

    MUTS

The newest movies that Princess shows are those that have just been or are about to be released to the public on DVDs. Thus, never expect a movie that hit theaters in the last 4-6 months. The same movies are shown on all Princess ships, so current Patters from any ship will list what is available on MUTS on all Princess ships.
  12. In the past (no idea how it is now), once on board the accounting system basically does the charging over again from scratch, charging excursions first to non-refundable OBC and then to refundable. So it is possible that part of what one paid for excursions in advance with a credit card could end up being paid with non-refundable OBC and the person ending up with some refundable OBC. Example. Booked $200 excursions in advance, paying $100 with non-refundable OBC and $100 with CC. Booking had $70 non-refundable OBC that could not be used in advance to purchase shore excursions. On board the $200 of excursions are re-processed to use the original $100 non-refundable OBC and the $70 non-refundable OBC that could not be used pre-cruise, a total of $170. $30 would stay having been paid with the credit card, but since the CC was originally used to pay $100, the other $70 would be on the onboard account as refundable OBC. On board,
  13. Is that only for those who booked with Princess or can those who booked with a TA also use this method. Normally if one uses a TA, no payment info is available on the Princess web site.
  14. If you are on the ship using WIFI calling, can you also receive incoming calls and text messages in that mode or is it just useful for making calls and sending texts?
  15. Nor does the number of passengers. One to 4 at the same total fare.
  16. With the advent of specialty dining, food options in the main dining rooms decreased in offerings and quality. Princess has already reduced the the number and types of deserts in the MDR. The Premier package desserts (I assume available to everyone else for a price) could mean even less desert variety in the MDR and buffet.
  17. Another question is where in the theater the reserved area will be. Not all passengers like to sit in the same area. Some like up front, some in the middle, some in the rear. I assume they would just have one area set aside, so not all those eligible will like where that area is. Before this new price increase, Princess expected that 25% of passengers would book the Premier package, so on the larger ships, that could be more than the capacity of the Princess theater for a single show time.
  18. a) communication with vendors of private excursions b) access to credit card web sites to monitor the foreign transactions during the cruise c) on longer voyages, access to web sites for bill paying including credit cards
  19. Cost is the same on the Princess web site or cost is the same on the airline web site? If you are seeing the same cost on the Princess web site, you should be able to switch your flight at no change in fare. As someone else pointed out, you cannot change just one direction. In effect, you must rebook your embarkation flights also -- if still available --- and at the current Princess pricing for those flights.
  20. Only the Royal class (which includes the Majestic) has the Concierge Lounge for full suite guests.
  21. Main problem is picking up and dropping off the rental car. You may have to take a cab/Uber to the airport to pick up the car and the same to get back to the ship after returning it. When we went, there was only one rental car place anywhere near the cruise port and I have been told that location is no longer in business.
  22. Correct, aft stairs only go down to deck 6. And all you can access when you do go down to deck 6 aft is the aft dining room.
  23. The 1000 free minutes we received for that length cruise was more than sufficient. The 47.52 times (not 190 times) is meaningless unless we wanted to both be using the Internet 24x7, giving up sleep, onboard activities and time on shore to do so.
