  1. I've done it a number of times. As long as your new room / category is at least $1 higher there is no problem.
  2. I have to admit that all of the wonderful pictures Roy has posted are very exciting to me. I know all of our tastes differ but wondering how the fish in Queens Grill is. Would love to have Dover Sole - one of my favorites. Celebrity server 3 or 4 different types of Sea Bass (with different names - Black Sea Bass, Baramundi etc) I enjoy it but they taste pretty much the same to me.
  3. A really good resource is CruiseDeckplans.com - they have both have free access and a subscription service. You can select most cruise lines look at the floor plan for each ship and many rooms have photos as well as some have videos. If there is a yellow circle with camera there are pictures available.
  4. While not 4085 this is 4078 same location but Port (not a recent photo).
  5. I have to say I'm much more excited about the Cunard Cruise than I am for our upcoming Celebrity Cruises. I have had many recommendations to try out Cunard. I changed my cabin today. I discovered the one I had was a connecting room and was quite a distance from a WiFi Access Point.
  6. I agree. Are you able to order the Chateaubriand to desired temperature. We enjoy it medium rare. The desert has me salivating.
  7. My husband is from Scotland and we lived in Ireland for 3 years. All toasties I have had are grilled with lots of butter until golden brown and cheese fully melted. Definetly not fired. I think in America that a fried sandwich might be called a Monte Cristo This Monte Cristo sandwich with ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese slices is dipped in an egg and milk mixture and fried to a golden brown. A hot alternative to the usual lunch or snack. Try it with berry jam on the side.
  8. I usually set up timezones in World Clock on iPhone. Helps me know when one changes due to DST.
  9. The timezones I use on my iPhone - During and after DST you may have to play with Praia New York -5 Hamilton -4 Nuuk -3 Praia -2 Ponta Delgada -1 London I have a FitBit and unless you choose a timezone vs manually changing time it will not sync the time to my FitBit
  10. Great information. I have definitely book marked it for further reference.
  11. Yes you can bid on multiple categories at the same time. If you are awarded a win all of the others will be automatically cancelled.
  12. @rafinmd Wanted to thank you for well written live review. Looking forward to follow along.
  13. I have to agree that that was a pretty sorry looking Ham and Cheese Sandwich. Maybe something is being lost in translation. Wonder one were to order a Ham and Cheese Toastie whether it would turn out. Any pub I've ever ordered delivered a beautiful sandwich as below.
  14. I normally do the same as you and have a list of the time zones that match with ships time. I never found that you can rely on the ships WiFi to adjust for you. There is one timezone that can be problematic. On an iPhone you can also just manually adjust the time without changing the timezone but need to turn off auto adjust time. Can someone confirm at what time Cunard changes their clocks. I've been told by a number of people that Cunard changes timezones at Noon. I read this post - which indicates it depends on East bound (noon) Westbound (2AM)
  15. Thanks and good to see you here also. After 23 years sailing exclusively on Celebrity we have made the decision to try other lines. Celebrity cancelled our November TA from Lisbon to Buenos Aires and left us with 1/2 of a B2B that was Non-Refundable Deposit but they did allow us to move it to a different TA. I couldn't find a Celebrity cruise that meshed. I did find the Cunard QE2 TA about 2 1/2 weeks before our TA and worked perfect for us so booked for October 2024. I know it is far off but trying to soak up as much information as possible. As a Silicon Valley Geek Internet is really important.
  16. It is possible for the ship to charge you VAT when in Agree with you with a caveat. If the Mediterranean has at least one non-EC port then they do not collect VAT when at sea between ports. We were on a B2B recently where one let had an EC port and the other had no-EC ports. On the one with no-EC ports the duty free was closed for the entire cruise while on the other it was open. Also the crew were telling us they needed to buy internet minutes on the cruise with an EC Port. BTW our non-EC country on our Med cruise was Montenegro.
  17. Howdy neighbor! I'm always amazed when someone asks me where I'm from and I Sunnyvale who no one has ever heard of. With so many high tech companies in both Mountain View and Sunnyvale I'm amazed how many know of it. Definitely agree with your thoughts on Ponant. It is totally a different experience and can not be compared to mainstream cruise lines ---but loved it. Both embarkation and disembarkation was very efficient, civil and painless. We chose the latest disembarkation time as we were staying in Toronto and our place wouldn't be available until late. Our luggage was curbside and the shoreside team even came over to see if they could help with Uber and checked the license number for us and then told us when our car was arriving. They even helped load our luggage.
  18. Thanks for clarification. I didn't know they jumped numbers around like that. I would expect nothing less in you Penthouse.
  19. Goodie... I hope it is the same next door in 9052. Wondering if they install access points in all Queen's Grill Room. We are new to Cunard and wondering if they have Installed Starlink on their ships?
  20. I had ordered my Protective Case and Screen Protector before I received my phone so installed them right away. I didn't take out the insurance but after watching a video of how the Pro and ProMax may be easy to break the rear screen just by flexing I'm thinking about buying it. They told me I have 30 days to add it. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=iphone+15+pro+max+breakage+by+flexing
  21. Good to hear... About the only program that is buggy for me is the Books App - which I use heavily. Slowly I'm getting it to work but still I have a couple books that just disappear and leave a white space where they should be.
  22. I'm sure Iain would still be on 5 if he didn't get my hand me downs. I on the other hand am a Silicon Valley Techy and have to have the latest and greatest whether I need it or not.
  23. Mine heated up to 115 F when first setting up while charging at the same time. I haven't experienced any heating issues sine then.
  24. I've been checking the difference in prices between Business Class Air included vs Portto Port and find I can do much better booking my own Business Class airfare. I almost booked a SS cruise earlier this week for next week but forgot my sister was coming to visit.... oops. They had a nice price on a Vancouver to San Diego, California Coastal.
  25. I did some playing with the 5X lens.... really impressive. Can't wait for our next cruise to try out. Slowly everything is starting to come together and functioning as I would expect. As usually they add new "Features" and turn them on by default. One example is if using AirPods (which I do daily to listen to audiobooks) If you speak it drops the audio level and turns on Ambiant Sounds, so low you can't hear the book for about 10 seconds. One Google and one click and back to normal.
