  1. Thanks. Definitely hit Scotland. I would have to say the people are some of the most friendly warm folks you will ever have an opportunity to meet. I really get a kick out of the old Scottish expressions you see. We are off to Dumries House (restored by Prince Charles trust) today for hiking and a family dinner.
  2. Wow... that's really nice. Wonder how it will hold up to the demand.
  3. Yea... I just saw this new threat that masks are required on Apex after infections surpassed 3%
  4. This was asked some time ago in 2008 and nothing negative was ever posted.
  5. It's pretty easy. I got one yesterday. It has turned into a money making opportunity for many. Just Google - Covid Recovery Certificate Just send in a Copy of you Passport and a PCR or Antigen Test Results showing when and where you tested Positive. Most sites require you to wait 10 days from initial positive results as that is what the U.S. requires, but have seen some as early as 5 days. You pay the fee 29 Pounds to 99 Pounds and you receive your certificate between 15 minutes to 1 day from submission (Often depending on price paid).
  6. Of course --- Anything less than 6 courses would be a disappointment. My favorite is always desert and I wasn't disappointed. Ice Cream made with Coconut Milk it was incredible. Iain said no - problem Wine is Vegan as well as beer.
  7. I definitely was not stranded. Celebrity for me was of no assistant and all I had to do is get on Google and was able to handle everything. My understanding is Italy can be a bit of a challenge if you are put in a Italian Covid Hotel. I think it depends on where you are. UK there are no restriction so is totally voluntary with the exception of having to test 1 day prior to Flight back to the US or COR. COR's have become a money maker for many and hundreds of on-line sites with fees of 29 to 99 UK Pounds. I obtained one yesterday and it was delivered in 2 hours. Some provide in as short as 15 minutes.
  8. Thanks Bo --- taking a look. Was thinking of you last night. My BIL who is Vegan cooked a fantastic Meal for our pleasure last night. Delicious and am sure very nutritional. I'm going to have to start trying some of his recipes when we get home.
  9. All good advise Bo. Curious if you could either send me privately or on this thread what type of insurance you have. There are so many options out there and so many that have covid limitations. It would also be good for others to understand the changing policies of Celebrity and how the Certificate of Recovery (COR) can help minimize the impact or extended Positive Results. Out of an abundance of caution as we do not fly home for another 5 days (pre-planned) I applied and received a COR yesterday.
  10. Please read below. I think the key for you if the date of your sailing is between 11 and 90 days from when you tested positive (monitored). Also they will only accept a PCR test not an Antigen. The COR is in lieu of a negative test but still require Vaccination Certificate. The latest FAQ dated May 5 Health at Sea FAQ https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/CEL_Healthy_at_Sea_FAQs Is Celebrity accepting Certificates of Recovery? If I have recently recovered from COVID-19, what documentation am I required to provide? For all sailings departing on or after March 18, 2022, Celebrity is now accepting a Certificate of Recovery. We will not accept a Certificate of Recovery in place of a vaccination record. All guests eligible to be vaccinated must also continue to show proof of full vaccination, with the final dose of their vaccine administered at least 14 days prior to sailing. A Certificate of Recovery must meet the following requirements: o Be on official letterhead from a healthcare provider, public health official or telehealth provider showing: § The Provider’s name § The Provider’s address § The Provider’s phone number § Confirmation of your recovery and completion of isolation o Be typed (not handwritten) and signed by the provider o Must confirm the sample collection date of the positive PCR test, which must be a minimum of 11 days and a maximum of 180 days before the departure date of your cruise o Date of validity must extend throughout the duration of your cruise o Include a positive result document for a COVID-19 PCR test taken a minimum of 11 days and a maximum of 90 days before the departure date of your cruise. An antigen test result will not be accepted with a Certificate of Recovery. The test results document from your test provider must include the name of the lab that processed the test, the lab’s CLIA Lab Number or Certification Number, the address of the lab, your name, the date the test was taken, type of test, and your positive result. This can be a printed document, email, or telehealth app notification. Fully handwritten doctor’s notes (such as those written on a prescription pad) will not be accepted. Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “positive” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document.
  11. I just did it and yes you forfeit $100 pp administrative fee for cancellation prior to final payment. The difference was prior to May 2022 there was no $100 pp fee at all (it was waived even if cancelled up to 48 hours prior to cruise.) New Policy is also penalties per number of days after final payment like the old days.
  12. On our recent European Cruise they didn't add any excursions but did have a wait list for for customer cancelled excursions. They did add 2 B2B excursions on our TA and 1 on the Spain Portugal. Both had lost of B2B's
  13. Good idea for personal protection if you choose. We flew out of LHR last week and 98% in the terminal and flights were mask free, including staff. Because of BA's record as of late we are flying to LHR a day early for our return flight home on UA next Wednesday.
  14. Like others have suggested I believe the EU makes recommendations and member state still retain country jurisdiction. While the UK is not in EU when we flew up to Scotland from London last week very few were wearing masks in the airport or flight. I believe that is because the UK dropped all covid restrictions.
  15. We happen to have been one of those. We were in a RS but tested one day before end of cruise at B2B testing. We were unable to get lunch and waited for 3 hours or dinner finally getting it about 9:30 PM only after raising the roof. In our case, and maybe it was all the B2B's that tested positive and the last night of the cruise but no one would even answer the Room Service Phone nor Front Desk. I'm not sure what you would do in an emergency. Thank goodness when someone delivered some documents they gave me the Retreat Hosts phone number and she came to our rescue.
  16. Good for you. I know it will be hard to believe but that Cocktail Table book may just be one of the most talked about items in you house or decades to come as you re-tell you tale.
  17. Interesting to hear about staying aboard. Really curious if you have any idea and how much time they give you before they dump you off the ship. It would at least be helpful to have a day or two to arrange either a hotel or onward journey home.
  18. Curious if you have been back. While we have not been here in 3 years it has really continued to improve and there is just so much to do in the area. Last time we visited a lot on the East Coast and had a wonderful day at the Kelpies an absolutely incredible sculpture to see up close.
  19. They are just a gathering of CC members. Usually Celebrity host with name tags (real names not cc handles), coffee, juices and pastries. Generally some crew members like Hotel Director and/or Cruise Director have a couple words and then it is free form. Some groups decided to do a gift swap bringing items representative of their home. Weather worthwhile is personal opinion but on some active roll calls it's fun to meet people you may have been chatting with for a year or more.
  20. You can have a covid test done by any facility or drugstore that does testing, Just make sure the test type is acceptable to Celebrity. As for the home test - You don't need to go deep like the PCR. you only swab about 1/2 inside the sides of your nose. You go around 5X in each nostril.
  21. We are somewhat lucky as some of our expense will be reimbursed by Celebrity but at this point I have no Idea how much. We will also be getting a refund for a day in quarantine plus a full refund of our cancelled cruise so will help cover our costs. We do have travel insurance but also unsure what will be covered and what won't. In our case we had already planned on spending a week in Scotland and self quarantined for the 10 day period before staying with iain's Family. I figure I'll start filing the claims when I get home and have access to a scanner.
  22. Having tested postie on the B2B testing March 29 and getting booted off in Southampton I have quite a bit of experience on the Old Policy but for all European Sailings after May 1 they are no longer doing B2B testing and if you test positive there are a whole set of differences -- some for cruises between May 1 and May 17 and then another change for cruises from May 17 to November 2022 This link answers all the questions about both before and after the change (on page 9) Health at Sea FAQ https://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/CEL_Healthy_at_Sea_FAQs I've not yet read what is or isn't covered for our Greenland cruises but we should consider what insurance coverage we may need.
  23. I'll have to have Iain and family get me some. I had to google on them, They look like an Irish Boxty . but Iain says they are nothing like a tatty scone.
  24. Yes the Burrell Collection had just re-opend and was pretty busy for was a weekday. I was amazed at how eclectic a collection and the curators have created many interactive exhibits. I was surprised that it to free. Today we went to Culzean Castle. We have been many times before but today were just hiking on the grounds. So how we lucked out with another sunny day. Incredible walking trails and all the spring wildflowers, Rhododendrons and Tulips are in bloom. Really worth a visit
