  1. Methinks it was not that alcohol was "essential" vs the high tax rates states were losing on other purchases that were caught up in shut downs ... LOL Cheers and bon voyage
  2. d2 - was that by choice or chance due to lack of inventory aboard, do you know??? Cheers and bon voyage
  3. If all you are drinking on your sailing (other than the self-serve beverages in OVC) , I support that decision... Cheers and bon voyage
  4. Our cruise ends in Civitavecchia and will need to make arrangements to travel to Rome... There is one (1) tour I saw which arranges for a group of 12 to help close and lock The Sistine Chapel, then tour The Museum and finally have cocktails in one of the The Gardens... the same company indicated there is a tour which will include a Papal Audience. I did email to find out if it was the 'Public Audience' or not. Most in our group would prefer small group tours while there, if possible. We are a group of 13. Any suggestions and input you have are very welcomed... Still trying to research hotels. Grazie and bon voyage
  5. To be expected... for the most part, in these days of sailing... Keep monitoring, prices are likely to go down, even if only for one (1) hour!!! Air fares likewise. bon voyage
  6. LOL, like a few other last names I can think of, hypothetically, one knows what happened in the short run, so I would not worry about that BUT would ask about family affiliation... As I have in the past with 'familiar/known' last names... bon voyage
  7. I take it went to LA Fitness before boarding, right???? LOL Enjoy and bon voyage
  8. As you have figured out the food part and can wade through it so you will not be hungry.... the drink part will be the same, for sure... Not to worry. bon voyage
  9. Actually, I would not focus on what others notice, it is more about what you notice and what impedes or provides the greatest enjoyment of the ship and sailing you are on... Each of us have different "requirements" or "needs" for enjoying our vacation(s) and really enjoy when our expectations are met and/or even exceeded. Please come back and let us know how you enjoyed (or what irked or surprized you) on the sailing!!! bon voyage
  10. There is no need to be disappointed, just go into your CP and reserve the time(s) and venues desired daily... Issue (re)solved.... bon appetit and bon voyage
  11. Yes and hopefully from different posters on the same sailing or same ship different sailing, from time to time... bon voyage
  12. Heck 4 - you are way ahead of it already!!!! LOL You certainly have those basics, along with a whole lot more (IMO)!!! bon voyage
  13. 4 - I can only say out of 14 in our group three (3) years ago on The Edge, two (2) did not enjoy the IV experience only, yet all else for them was great... You must remember that CC has a few specialist in criticizing, heavily and repeatedly, especially E Class vessels. While no ship is or can be perfect for all of us, it is for some of us... in many respects of course. Have fun on the ship and you will meet many passengers aboard who really love the ship and they are not on CC either... LOL Upon your return, please come back and let us know how you enjoyed your sailing and the ship (both pro's and con's from your vantage point). bon voyage
  14. What is wrong with having ones last name on their sea pass??? bon voyage
  15. M/H - you will do it just fine... You are off to a great start it sounds, even if you did wheel your own luggage aboard (much quicker than waiting for delivery...) Enjoy sail away... bon voyage
  16. ... as is not wanting to pay the difference to upgrade to a better brand if the one on the package is not available... LOL Cheers and bon voyage
  17. My input can only be, for the most part, if one believes that they are being threatened let an officer know ASAP so it can be addressed. X, IME, does not tolerate such expressions on board rather the aggressor is sober or not and I Am sure it may happen moreso after a few throw backs at one of the bars... Although, I may have witnessed a passenger or two who had other issues and became threatening to others while aboard X... but security took care of the issue, by what means, not sure, but it was addressed. Go, sail and if something like this is of concern just keep aware of the environment... I know unpleasant things happen on cruise ships, I have only personally encountered such a situation once... bon voyage
  18. What is wrong with that? Especially if one believes it is a 'money grab' there are ways to avoid it, such as bring a bottle of wine aboard for first night consumption, possibly? Cheers and bon voyage
  19. While I have never sailed CC, are you indicating that I Am getting the same experience on X's Edge Class vessels??? While some posters tout MSC and Virgin as current day 'equivalents' to X of yesteryear, which lines do you consider as a rival to current day X in terms of service, "luxury" (personally I think it is all advertizing on X's part) and price??? bon voyage
  20. As a 'current' cruiser, I do like and prefer music between 2010 and 2021.... The 'oldies but goodies' are great for a theme night... IMO bon voyage
  21. Hello all - I Am sure quite a few of you have done this and I want your input as to which company would be the best to use... There are tours which include an Audience with The Pope and I presume it is a 'Public Audience' as the fee is very reasonable... LOL TIA, grazie and bon voyage
  22. Same of The Edge - I reminded the Host that I was vegan and they relayed it to the Chef who created a wonderful meal for me... No worries at all... Your daughters will be accommodated while eating, throughout the ship!!! bon appetit and bon voyage
  23. I have read in several threads complaints of 'certain' brands not available on certain sailings... I can say that when the brand I wanted was not available on the PBP, My bartender was happy enough to upgrade me without additional charge, likewise for wine when the bottles I brought were somehow empty by night five (5)... Very accommodating, or so I thought... So no complaints on this front. Cheers and bon voyage
  24. Just think, a can of worms can bring a great catch, in the long run... then one never knows for sure until the lines are cast into the waters... Good luck and bon voyage (B2B in Dec)
