I was not aware that Princess was experimenting with facial recognition. All you have ever needed to get off/on was your medallion. Customs is a totally different/unrelated process.
Once you are on board you can simply have them applied to your account where they will cover *anything* you can purchase or pay for. It's just like handing them cash for pre-payment of services.
For every ship we have been on, I personally don't think that there is any difference other than possibly the decor, though I cannot speak for the Ruby since that is one ship that we have not sailed on yet.
Thanks for clarifying that point...I forgot to mention that. I'm pretty sure that WiFi calling is one of the requirements for this to work, for both iPhone and Android.
We are currently on the Sky, and we both use CPAPs. Yes, a 220 volt "European style" 2 prong socket is behind one of the beds.
And...welcome to Cruise Critic!
I don't believe that you can get a price for a transfer until you are actually booked. Assuming you have booked directly with Princess go to your cruise personalizer (this is for a desktop/laptop/tablet...not the app) and click on the travel tab. Scroll down *below* the section dealing with flights and you will see transfers.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 (Android) and have had most of the different versions since the S3. I was never able to get text messages while on Medallionnet while the rest of my traveling companions with iPhones could. On the cruise just prior to the one I'm on right now I switched to Google Messages instead of the default Samsung text app. I can now receive texts just like my friends. I wish I had discovered this a long time ago!
Nightlights take so little current (at least the LED style) that this outlet should have no problem with it. We are currently on the Sky...our outlet takes a "standard" 2 prong, non-keyed US plug.
Different ships may very well be set up differently.
I am well aware of how Viator does business and that they are a middleman, charging a fee on top of what the actual tour operator charges. Our mode of travel requires a high degree of flexibility, requiring us to sometimes cancel very close to the tour date. With Viator you can *usually* cancel up to 24 hours prior to the tour.
We did a Panama Canal partial transit this past February and stayed at the Embassy Suites (Princess hotel package). Yes,pricey but very nice and you don't have to worry about your transfers either way.
The fact that you describe it as a "transfer from the airport to the hotel" is pretty much proof that what you actually had was a pre-cruise hotel package. Princess includes the transfers to/from the hotel. Princess does not provide "stand-alone" transfers to anywhere except straight to the ship. Your travel docs should have clearly stated that you had a hotel reservation along with transfers both ways. Sorry you misunderstood.
We just ate at Sabatini's a couple of nights ago. We made the mistake of having a mid-afternoon snack. We absolutely couldn't eat everything that they laid out before us, even though it was some of the best lasagna I have ever had. DON'T eat before going...and *maybe* even cut back on your lunch!
Well, that is *somewhat* the story of the Pacific Princess in 2020. We were on the first leg of a WC where we got off in LA. The ship continued on and made it as far as the Indian Ocean before it was recalled due to the pandemic. It wasn't too long after that it was sold to Azamara. Quite possible that it was the plan all along to sell it off after that WC.
