  1. We couldn't use Uber when we debarked Vista two weeks ago. We had to use Lyft. Also, I just did a mock booking for Uber from the port and it is still showing "Pickup Are Unavailable." I'm not sure where the information that you can now use Uber is coming from because it doesn't appear you can.
  2. If you are buying it as an investment for your children, you might want to look at other stock. There are many that are better right now. It's going to be a long time before there are dividends again, if that even happens. Now, if you are buying it for onboard credit and they cruise often, then each would need 100 shares to get that. That's really the only benefit right now. Will that continue? Who knows. There are so many variables at play, including whether the company has to file for reorganization. For personal purchases I use Ameritrade. It's simple and has no transaction fees. I've never tried to purchase for someone else, so I would talk to an advisor for that.
  3. We've never been big fans of the brunch. We went once on our last cruise just to get an omelet without the long line, but that's the first time in several cruises.
  4. I sent in for three cruises back in the late spring. These were for September 2022, January 2023 and April 2023. The two cruise for next year were booked with the 50th Anniversary 50% off deal. I received notification in about two-three weeks approving credit for all three cruises.
  5. We have been on 20 cruises and have never taken the bottles our pills came in. We flew for two cruises this year and drove for another. We take our meds in daily pillboxes. My wife also brings a larger pillbox with lots of different over the count meds we might need. We have never had any issues with these. The only time we ever had an issue with any medication is when my wife had a bottle of liquid Pepto Bismol in her medicine bag. TSA did do a separate check that one time.
  6. We have been out of N.O. three times in January and are going this next year as well. The temps in Cozumel will be good. We typically dress like we would in the late Spring or Fall those days (shorts and such.) Depending on where you are going out of, it may be cooler sea days, especially at night. Going out of N.O. it is usually pretty cool that first night and last night. We take longer pants for those nights. Last time the first sea day was nice, so we were wearing shorts that day. However, on the last sea day headed back to N.O., there was a front coming through and it was windy and cool.
  7. It is hit or miss depending on the ship. I had it on Mardi Gras back in April and it was great. Last week on the Vista it wasn't very good. It was very, very thin and looked nothing like the picture above.
  8. We made our noon flight last Saturday without any issues. We are platinum, so we had zone 3 checked luggage. We were off the ship by 9, took a Lyft to the airport, were through security and sitting at our gate at 10:30.
  9. We did Lyft XL last Saturday and it was $95. You could get regular Lyft for around $60 if I remember correctly. But, there weren't as many regular Lyft available. Another couple waiting near us had to wait a few minutes to get one scheduled. That was around 9:15 or so.
  10. We couldn't get Uber from there last Saturday. It was still just Lyft only.
  11. Can't answer about the Allure, but we just disembarked the Vista on Saturday and it was a very smooth process for those who have passports. They use facial recognition so it takes only a couple of seconds. Now the line for those using birth certificates was very long. Definitely glad we didn't have to go through that one.
  12. We never did receive the email for our Vista cruise last week. We had received it for our three previous cruises, but not this one, so they may not be promoting that as much anymore. We did go in and drop off our luggage upon boarding, but our room was not ready until 1:30. As a matter of fact, our cards were not delivered to the room until nearly 2 p.m.
  13. No. We never used it on our four cruises since the restart. On our cruise last week it took less than a minute to check in. That was mostly taking the picture from the passport. Don't think they even looked at the vaccination card.
  14. We just got off of Vista today. It is the Horizons. One thing they are doing now is trying to assign you to the same wait team each night when you check in on the app. We had the exact same table every night that we ate in the dining room, which was six nights (one night we did Cucina). Everyone around us were the same group each night, though some were at different tables some nights, but still with the same wait team. We were on the upper level, deck four.
  15. We are on the same cruise. There was the one full outage. If there were anymore during the night, they were extremely short. I sleep with a cpap with a full mask and would have known quickly if the power was out.
  16. We love the Drury Inn on Poydras Street. It is about a 1.5 miles from the port. It has a great breakfast, as well as an evening dining option included if you arrive early enough. One of the great things about it is the parking. They have an attached parking garage ($28 per night if I remember correctly) where you can park on the same floor as your room and enter the building from that level. Most port area hotels you have to use valet parking that is much more expensive and not nearly as convenient.
  17. We did a four day once. It was a weekend wrap around (Thur-Mon) out of N.O. We decided then that we would not do another one shorter than five days. Not sure if it is like this everywhere on shorter cruises, but many treated it as one big party. They would be out on their balconies shouting until the early morning hours. We were also awakened the last morning about 3 am by a knock on the door from a drunk man at the wrong room.
  18. When making the table request on the app, there is a place to click if you want to be seated with others. But just keep in mind that a lot of people choose YTD so they can get a table for just their party, so not sure if there would be many others requesting a table with others.
  19. Must be you, because we haven't even had an option to choose both on our three cruises since the restart. They have asked, morning or evening?
  20. I doubt it will change this time as well. Covid has become the code word for every business that makes changes to their products or services.
  21. Very true. Carnival had already scaled back room service long before Covid. They had essentially said this same thing before, but when there was such a backlash they changed it to room service from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. instead. Now, Covid has given them an excuse to go forward with that original plan from years ago.
  22. We don't order a lot from room service. Our favorite thing to order is the chocolate cake. We order it at least once on each cruise. It's hard to find on the buffet or anywhere except paying for it at Java Blue.
  23. Any bets on how long before the "complimentary" breakfast is removed as well?
